. >> brendan wilson was killed last november on a path that led to woodbridge high school. julie carey was the only one there as the gunman detailed the confession confession. >> reporter: for the first time we heard them say the alleged trigger man kawain smalls confessed to the shooting the day after brendan wilson died. smalls' sister lured wilson into the woods saying she wanted to buy drugs. once wilson got there, smalls ambushed the high school student from behind. he told police he fired multiple shots at point-blank range into wilson's back. after the teen fell to the ground smalls fired a final shot into his head. the victim's mother heard many of the details for the first time. >> treated him like a dead animal. to treat him like a dead animal. >> and shot him again. >> uh-huh. shot him again. >> reporter: the judge ruled there was enough evidence to move the case forward to a grand jury that will meet in april. coming up more from the victim's mother about these new revelations and what the detective says was the motive for the shooting. i'm julie carey, news 4.

he lives in woodbridge and goes to osborne park high school in manassas. a fellow student had concerns about the student in the past. >> a student who asked not to be identified said the suspect often talked about his support for isil. he said, he really believes that is right. the student even said that he wanted to go to syria after graduation. in the meantime, abc is concerned that he used online context to help make his way to the country to fight with isil. the suspect is a juvenile. online records indicate he was interested in bitcoin and had taken math and science classes where he worked on a robot. he is very smart. he became very aggressive about his islamic faith. he was always really passionate about his religion. we all knew that. it wasn't until junior year that he tried to convert me to islam. he would say my religion was false and it hurt. senior year, i thought he had stopped. he and the fbi believe the team became more discrete. prince william school tells us they are not aware of any potential threat to the school community. now, abc has

at woodbridge high school. he was arrested friday. by law only police officers can carry guns on school grounds in virginia. >>> the man who is suspected in a series of random shootings in maryland is now linked to nine. police say among the targets maryland live casino. hong young was already accused of shooting at a number of facilities including an nsa building. investigators say he also fired at two drivers. no one was injured. court documents show young told officers he heard voices telling him to shoot and he is being held without bond. >>> coming up a man from prince george's county will spend four years in prison for stabbing a transgender teenager on a metro train. reginald clieber is his name. he was sentenced today in connection with the attack on the green line last summer. prosecutors say they will not tolerate hate-filled violence in the district. before the stabbing clieber asked the 15-year-old if she was a boy or a girl. her friends say they sprayed mace on clieber. the teenager did recover from her injuries. >>> as p

today she learned details of how the woodbridge student was shot to death last november 10th. >> i was shocked. >> reporter: this large memorial now sits alongside the path to woodbridge high school where wilson's body was found. five suspects have been arrested in connection with his death. most of them teenagers. at the preliminary hearing for the alleged triggerman kawain smalls -- >> did the defendant admit he shot mr. wilson? the detective, yes, he did. there had been a dispute between wilson and the defendant's brother. they asked two of his sub languages to help ambush and rob wilson. his sister lured wilson there saying she wanted to buy some pot. he ran up from behoond and placed a gun in the small of his back and fired several shots into the teen's back. when he started shooting brenden wilson fell to the grond, testified the detective. for the last shot he moved the body over and fired into his head. >> to treat him like a dead animal. >> and shot him again? >> yeah shot him again. >> reporter: the victim's mother foond finds some comfort and encouraging words in a facebook

abc 7 has now confirmed a 17-year-old boy from woodbridge who has been arrested and accused of helping a man join isil. because of a suspect's age, his name has not been released but we know that he attended osborne park high school. federal investigators say the teen used on-line contacts to help the fighter make his way to syria. at this point the teen is charged as a juvenile. federal prosecutors are working to upgrade those charges. an update now on the long battle over the affordable care act. better known, perhaps, as obamacare. today, opponents of the law again took their case to the supreme court. as scott thuman reports, their argument hinges on just four words. >> it is the latest and potentially debilitating argument against president obama's signature law. should subsidies only be granted to customers in a state-run health exchange like in maryland d.c. and about a dozen others. >> we believe it's time that have been cursed by washington take a stand. >> those wishing to revoke so-called obamacare say look no further than these four words.
