police have been here for hours overnight searching the wooded area. this is what police tell us, over course of events that happened starting at 8:00 last night. a 17 year-old was coming home from the concert with her father. they stopped in this area where they told her father she had to relieve herself. they could not wait. she left her cell phone in the car, went in the woods and once sometime passed and she didn't come back her father got concerned and called 911. that is big response. we have uniformed police officer, we have swat, crime scene unit on the scene. they have been searching for her ever since. it has been eight hours since anyone has heard from her. they have been going through wood here with lights, heat seeking tea advises, they have k-9 on the scene as well and still nothing of her whereabouts. they have found some clues in the woods. they found her purse and other personally affects. they have found items of hers in the woods but they have in the heard from her. police have been contacting her friend, her family from this area. s

something that's not conducive to enjoying yourself out in the woods. that search continues beyond me 22-square miles of some of the most difficult wilderness areas in the country. we do know today that there are tactical units. there are canine units which, by the way, have difficulty and can have difficulty when the weather conditions and the rain is difficult. then also aviation units. the helicopter units are out. beyond this 22-square miles of wilderness they are also going door to door. the town of malone the town of duane, this is about just 30 minutes away from here. these are areas that they have searched before. they went back again today. i just spoke with one homeowner minutes ago that had her home searched. >> some state police officers came to our house, went up in the back. used the four wheeler and our next door neighbor's four wheeler and checked the woods in the background and our out buildings. >> what's back there? >> we have two buildings, a play house and storage building. they checked those out. and the old railroad in the woods.

the 22 perimeter search is still going on in the thick woods. they're now in the town shir airship area. police were going door to door and searching the woods behind the homes. i asked an officer, do you have a tip? is this why you were outside the perimeter in this specific area? the answer was no we just want to check it. homeowners told me this was the second time they'd come to their area. besides homes, there is the forest behind the homes. even railroad tracks. they're just looking everywhere they can. this once again, 1300 law enforcement from all levels out today searching for david sweat. >> have you spoken to any of the people who are in the homes and those cabins? we're looking at these pictures as they go inside. clearly, it just must be so emotional and frustrating for people who are there. three weeks and counting that there could be a murderer in their midst. >> reporter: i'll tell you the two emotions i see the most. they're relieved that police are so close and law enforcement is trying so hard. they are so so appreciative of t
