else who's not from the area, worcester. and ultimately, it came down to the story of these five men and father brooks. unfortunately, a lot of the people i talked to, i had to diminish their roles in the book. i had to take names out because, again, my editor said, you know what? i'm getting confused keeping track of all these people. focus on these men, focus on the fraternity they formed and use that as a sort of microcosm for what they experienceed at holy cross and what was being experienced, you know, across the country at that time. i think that, um, there were a couple of things that i tried to be careful not to do. one was heighten the drama too much with fake love interests and dialogue. but, no, i think the main thing that was important to me that holy cross was both special and unique, but it was a microcosm of what was happening in the country at that time. um, i am not american, i actually grew up in scotland. i am half catholic, but brady's a very handy name to have when you're reporting at holy cross. you folks seeing the heaviest rain around worcester county through saint mary's, calvert, anne arundel county, and across the bay toward the eastern shore. you are seeing the heaviest rain. there is still a lot of rain to the south and west and we'll continue to watch for that. here's where the line of storms were coming through. any time you see a line like this, you know you're going to see some strong winds. we did see winds in excess of 60 miles per hour across the area. numerous trees down in many areas. we have about 15,000 people across our region without power. then we get to the watches and the warnings. the only severe thunderstorm warnings are along the eastern shore toward talbot county. a tornado watch in effect along portions of southern maryland. but i expect this to be discontinued. there is no longer that tornadic threat once the storms move out. the green areas are all flood watches and flood warnings, including a flash flood warning for montgomery. and then toward frederick county, virginia, and frederick county, maryland. these are areas that picked up a tremendous

it is worcester of massachusetts and a tech high school. is unbelievable. they have 24 different career choices. they have an on-site veterinarian clinic where kids work with live animals, not stuffed once. the 16 day auto shop and the list just goes on but it different, not more the same. in the report i think, though it wasn't the focus, it is so important and it was mentioned by both panelists, the early intervention. i'm a believer and a system that you can't take a piece of the whole system, tinker with it or even change dramatically one piece and assume the whole thing will change. i don't believe that is true. the thing about public education in america that is most troubling to me is when the system can produce anything other than what it was designed to produce. when we graduate 75% of kids year after year after year unless you are african-american or hispanic, 50% as the report points out, that rate doesn't fluctuate like the dow jones average because the system was designed to do that. what we have to do is talk about what changes in the system h
