item 14 is a workshop to the commission on land use policy. i would love to hear your feedback after that to see if those are the kinds of workshops and the way to present its, and i would like to get your thoughts on whether that works for you. today, we will try that and see if it works. we're trying for something closer to the kind of discussion we had at our retreat, where there is more resolved conversation before we have actually britain's sunday down as a policy. president vietor: with the idea be that we would have a workshop and then at the subsequent meeting we would have a resolution or action item necessary or recommendation to come forward? >> we would headache recommendation, resolution, policies subsequent at the next meeting. it would dictate how much information we are crafting. but it really is to have that broader discussion, more free- forming kind of discussion, as opposed to being stuck with something already written down. there are other topics like that that might be useful to have it in that fashion. president vietor:

and -- when we started discussions about this think bike workshop. we did this in other cities in the u.s. and we will be in that other big california city, los angeles, in a few other days. thursday, and -- thursday and friday. and i was convinced quite easily about the use to have these kind of work shops in l.a. but i thought san francisco, there's so much going on already. we had leah and for almost nine months in amsterdam and chairman david chiu and others for a week. and there is such great organization here and there are so many ideas. there are so many professional little here already about bike infrastructure and the future of biking. but it will come down to implementation and it's perhaps a bit like riding the wiggle. you have to push hard and hopefully we might be a sort of additional support, a sort of small electricity motor for you to push your -- up that hill. and it will come down to implementation and leadership and it's great to have a sort of down to earth approach during these two days. working in teams on i think three importan

somebody is particular disadvantage, 24 workshops, for the broader spectrum, you are more like 10 workshopsafter they completed that phase, they are beginning to get an idea of what they would like to do after school or during summertime. then they are ready to move into the second phase, internship or work experience part. >> when do the paychecks today kicked in? >> the first paycheck comes around july 1st. school is out of, but in the middle of june, coming into the internship and working through a couple weeks, at the end of the summer you are getting a stipend check. to the summer after you gone through the training. >> what does the training? it cannot be just all you. talented as you are. >> we have a great staff of about 15 very talented professionals who work in the first phase. the real killer part is the work experience. a company like the gap, kaiser permanente, chevron, the city of sentences go department of children youth and family. they all work with us to provide at work experience in the internship experience. they would write a check to keep you afloat? >> more than that.

at the workshop earlier demonstrated, cpuc owns a range of property. the commission is responsible for managing these properties for the benefit of the rate payers. they all come back for approval by the commission. the proposed pilot program to advance the city goals with sustainable food production. in july of 2009, the mayor of san francisco issued a general order, which has them take action consistent with the goal francisco. it required all of the departments, including the puc, to conduct an audit of our land that would be suitable for food producing land, and in april of this year, the san francisco board of supervisors passed the agricultural ordinance, which amended the zoning code to allow small-scale farming in areas previously deemed residential. since january of this year, we have been working closely with different partners and with commissioner vietor, the agricultural alliance, to work with us to tell us how the puc can better align itself with the city ordinance, and we did a quick assessment looking in city properties and at issues su

these workshops were led by you for your alumni. they facilitated the trainings and help to create the curriculum for the trainings. you if warriors then utilize their newly learned skills to lead you to advocacy day here in city hall on wednesday april 6, an historic day of youth civic engagement when high-school students met with their elected officials to talk about the issues they care about. on youth advocacy day, you for years led interactive workshops with high school students and city government and also help students prepare for their meetings with elected officials. they met with officials from some various departments, members of the board of supervisors, and mayor edwin lee. mayor li was gracious enough to address all of the participants. he shared his history and inspiring words about the importance of youth in city politics. i am happy to share with you today that mayor lee is here to help celebrate youth warriors.
