i think that they were all or almost all administrators that were in the workshop. and they were all or almost all from schools that are not demonstration schools, and that seemed to me had not had training yet. so there was a huge amount of interest, and everybody was very enthusiastic and really happy to hear the small amount that they were able to learn in the short time. but it seemed to me that -- i'd just like, as this goes along, i'd be very interested to come to these conversations. i appreciate you giving us the schedule, so i can try to be available for some of that. but it made me realize that we need to pay attention to the fact that we sort of have a role or a certain kind of interest from staff, people of a different kind of parents, and trying to integrate that and make it work together and tell the parents what we're telling -- you know, what we're doing for the administrators and the teachers and vice versa will will help us to have the same information for everybody. and peep have lots of -- people have lots of presume ugses about this. so i want u

from the time of the workshop, we have reduced expenditures for the next fiscal year by $2 million. we will walk through what some of those are. walking through the proposals for consideration in the budget that we will be bringing forward. slide #six shows the major changes from the current fiscal year projection of $820 million in the budget going to next year and the following year. again, most of this are things you have seen before. a few things about point out. on the salary benefits line, proposing management reductions in the current fiscal year, and the overtime reductions of the second fiscal year, falling in it -- falling in it -- following an increase in the next fiscal year. i think we are chronically under-budgeted over time. why we do have some over- spending over time, we will try to bring the budget up in the spending down to what we think is the right level of overtime for the next fiscal year. because of a number of initiatives that we are overtaking, including the prop g initiatives, they are expected to do better in terms of bringing the overtime costs down. it

. >> we have video of previous workshops.ell us the benefits of what you are having. >> there are numerous benefits. it is an annual event where individuals can get free assistance on the orientation process to become a u.s. citizen. one of the main benefits we want the community to know about this year, is the fact that once you naturalize, if you have children under 18, they automatically become u.s. citizens, which is a huge benefit. >> who should go to this? is it those who applied or want to apply? who are we targeting here? >> it is pretty much open to anyone who qualifies for citizenship. i think that's a major thing. you have to have your lawful permanent residency card or green card. >> for how long now? >> for five years for most folks. there are skeexceptions for peo for three years. but people who want to become a citizen, become engaged, especially in the year of elections, vote in november. >> when they go to this workshop, it might be intimidating for some folks. it is intimidating talking to two attorneys here

this morning, i sat in on the workshops and i was very encouraged. a lot of people like roma were there, people we have all work together at various points in our lives the last 20 years, but there were also a lot of new faces, young faces, and it is encouraging that our city has so many dedicated women were willing to spend the time, volunteer time for the most part, to make this city one of the greatest leaders for women's issues and rights and equality. i think we have proven that. i am very encouraged that perhaps in the next four, five years we will get ahead in terms of our own country stepping up to the plate. thank you again, and thank you, shelly. as you move into the workshops, this is the sixth workshop we have done rolling this across the country. we want to hear it. this is the first of five remarks -- frameworks. we have the nationalç response framework. this is the first framework following the presidential disaster directive saying that we will have those as a basis of how we move forward with recovery. this is the first one as we move forward from the federal level. it is a national framework. how many people are feds? i should have said, how many people are not feds? put that out of your mind. this is how we all come together and work together for recovery as we go forward. thank you all very much.
