the workshops are running still through this month. the march 2nd deadline is a saturday or a sunday. i can't remember. but, saturday or sunday but the march 2nd deadline is critical. we want to make sure that students get help during those workshops. at those workshops we have college financial aid experts who are there providing students with those, you know, answering those questions, those hard questions. helping them through the actual application. we have lots of volunteers. we trained over 100 volunteers this year. we had 34 workshops that we're offering when we get back from this next break that students have in the winter, we'll have about five other workshops that will be available and they're offered throughout the state of california. >> and so what i'm getting from what you're saying is that there really is no excuse for you not to go to college. if money was the excuse you can drop that excuse because it really shouldn't be. >> yes. and even more importantly there's an incentive for attending a cash for college workshop s

it was actually part of every discussion in every workshop including the kickoff workshop. i remember a discussion about the incorporation of privacy at that point. what seemed to happen and we could go back and have a discussion about what the psychology was but intended to be an issue where the maturity on some of how you implement, what are the building blocks you build for privacy protection was less mature than what was true when a lot of cybersecurity areas and partly based on that it was relegated even though we brought it up at every workshop it was one we kept saying this is one we need to work on and one of the consequences of that is midway through the process the privacy principles were but basically in a stand-alone section as an appendix and i think maybe that is what caught everyone's attention. stakeholder groups working on the frame work, all 3,000 of them jumped in. was actually an interesting perspective on how the framework worked. a group of industries said this doesn't make sense to have this be an attachment. is based on the same data protection princ

ehealth five workshops. my hats off to any of you who went to five of those whacked -- workshops. i know the stories that that was not in fact a trivial commit and. in the end, the participation from industry was amazing. we ended up with over 4000 comments from 300-something different organizations. or to the port, you can see how the framework evolved and grew in direct response to industry input. with each iteration it got stronger and more refined. framework.lly your it represents the best consensus we have among government, privacy community, and others about how to do cyber security right now. that is because of the contributions of all of those different groups really stepped up and provided thoughtful and useful input. what is the groundwork -- framework, what does it do? the framework recognizes standards and practices to help organizations manage their cyber risks. i like to think it provides a common line which for discussing cyber security oath within and across different organizations. it offers guidance for how organizations can address privacy and civil liberties as

that was one of the things we saw throughout the workshop process. we didn't realize how you network -- unique -- it was having the conversation and address the challenges and how to work together. we put out a document called the road map that lays things out there. we talk about the processes out there and elevating them and the third key piece is how we work with industry to develop situations and innovation. >> i think we have heard since the framework came out, from a large energy company that said they are using the framework to talk to their board and have that conversation and they were doing that with preliminary and now the final framework. top banks in the united states are using it. one of the largest it companies in the country is hiring a new chief information security officer and they will judge as a baseline how that person does their job pace -- based -- on the framework and whether they meet it is move forward based on the tiers in the framework. so that is giving us a sense it is being used and that is a really good sign for what w
