and he worked with a director at the gma, -- toledo museum to initiate a series of workshops. the first one happened in march of 1962. and harvey sent out a letter to a group of other ceramics professors and invited them to come to toledo and participate in the glassblowing workshop or -- where they would experiment. and so they came here and set up a furnace. they built a furnace. they did not know how to melt glass, so they went to a local scientist who worked at a company that made fiberglass. and they began to experiment. there was a retired glass blower named harvey who worked in libby , he came in and help them to get the hang of what one does with a blow pipe. they blew things like these three objects you see laying on the deck here. they might look primitive but the idea was that they were experimenting with glassmaking. harvey would go on to make a very sophisticated body of work. and other artists you see represented in the case were also making glass in the 1960's and 1970's. so, when harvey had these workshops, he had a great moment -- a successful moment with expe

we have some financial services workshops and some employment readiness workshops that will be happening construction training program, unfortunately, or fortunately, we postponed it until july 12th, and so it was initially intended to start june 14th, but we found that we had a smaller candidate pool and so we wanted to an toibl have more time to recruit candidates, so we are actively recruiting candidates now and we will begin the class july 12th. and newsletter is set to come out this month and so it will come out at the end of this month and i'll be sure to forward it to kate so that members of the board can receive the newsletter. very excited to report that we have -- before we we had the emergency prep workshop last month, thank you to the board member julia for her assistance and planning and showing up on the last completion plus celebration day. we had 21 participants who enrolled and we had 17 that completed the series and on the 24th, the group attended a celebration gathering, socially distanced, which included pizza and every participant was able to receive a gift bag with

this is a follow-up from our boor workshop february 2021. this is part of process that we'll going through with the board over the next few months to have those conversations about trade-offs and levels of risk. what we want to do is spend at least the next two board meetings giving you as much information as we can to support you in making some of these important policy decisions. we have done surveys like this in the past. we did combine questions through other surveys. this will not be the only source of survey day you'll get in 2021. i will cover that in a little bit. as i noted in the last item, we kind of have a stack number of meetings to cover what the need of the transportation system are and kind of where the priorities are. where should we focus our resources. we will not have the resources to do everything we want. we have to go through a prioritization process. that is a policy decision for the board, the board of supervisors, the mayor and even the voters of san francisco. we're going to start off with having that conversation
