kelly wright has the latest for us. >> good morning.th this is a dramatic story about a young man who deserves the medal of honor. it is the highest award given to members of the u.s. military. they are ordinary people who do extraordinary things beyond the call of duty. such is the case of army staff sergeant ty carter. he will be receiving the medal of honor for his heroic actions in afghanistan. he was a calvary scout there in the 4th infantry division. and a report of his action states that on october 3, 2009, at combat outpost keating, carter risked his life to deliver ammunition and medical aid to members of his troop involved in a fierce firefight with more than 300 taliban insurgents. the taliban opened fire with rocket propelled grenades and gunfire killing eight soldiers and wounding 25. it was described as one of the bloodiest battles of the afghan war. and carter received wounds as he helped save lives. in fact he also risked his life to pull specialist steven mace to safety who was wounded by gun fire and he says all the he
