so, orville wright was the only wright brother to actually fly and teach here at the college park aviation museum. as part of their contract with u.s. army signal corps, including providing an airplane to provide training, they were trained to use our army officers to learn how to fly. that's why we're here at college park airport. they began training here in october of 1909, and this gallery here is done in as in wilbur's hangar to be reminiscent of the hangar space. at the time, there were the two army officers who learned how to fly. were frank lamb and frederick humphries. they actually weren't part of the army signal corps, but they were the ones who were chosen to first learn how to fly the wright brothers and the lines were here only just over a month. they soloed within a few weeks and training only stopped when a crash destroyed damage to one airplane. they had. this room is filled with many loans from the smithsonian national museum. the smithsonian air and space museum of a lot of the medals of the lamb and humphries, as well as benjamin savoy, who were some of the earliest avia
