myra ruiz, wyff news 4, greenwood. michael: hundreds came out to say goodbye to an upstate lawmaker who died last week. a funeral service for senator billy o'dell took place at the first presbyterian church in greenwood. he died in his sleep on thursday. he was 77 years old and served in the state senate since 1989. o'dell represenated district 4, which included abbeville, anderson, and greenwood counties. he is survived by his wife and two children. gabrielle: deputies say the led to a murder charge for the baby's mother. anderson county deputies arrested 23-year-old joanie holcombe. the baby's body was found saturday morning, in a field near cherokee circle. officials say the body could have been there since mid-december. according to warrants, holcombe is accused of giving birth to a baby girl, and placing her in a plastic bag. holcombe's bond hearing has been delayed due to health reasons. michael: also in anderson county, the sheriff's office is investigating what deputies are calling a double homicide. deputies s

myra ruiz, wyff news 4, n columbia. spartanburg county, deputies say an investigation under way after a woman was found bleeding from a possible shooting. this is sky4 video of dive crews searching the south tyger river, near reidville road, for evidence. deputies say a woman was found face down in the grass on the side of a home last thursday -- the side of a road last thursday night. the woman said she felt like she had been shot, but told authorities she didn't know what happened. right now deputies are not , releasing any other details. nigel: spartanburg county deputies say a man who thought he was going on a date ended up being ambushed, beaten, and robbed. three people have been charged . this happened in late december. the two men charged are spencer chastain and anthony taylor. deputies say 18-year-old jessie abrams picked up the victim in her car, and the car hit some tree limbs in the road. deputies say when the victim got out to inspect the damage, he was attacked, and his wallet and cellphone were stolen. t

john lyon, wyff news 4, honea path. michael: new details right now out of spartanburg county tonight. a woman is recovering after deputies say her husband shot her, and left her to die in the yard. today, a judge denied bond for johnathan batchelor. deputies say he shot his wife, stephanie, several times in their garage earlier this month, here on reidville road. investigators say stephanie was able to talk with deputies yesterday for the first time since the shooting, and the evidence led them to her husband. stephanie's attorney says doctors are calling her recovery miraculous. regained consciousness a little while back. she's been in the hospital for three weeks now, and the doctors are optimistic that in a couple of weeks, she'll be able to leave the hospital. michael: the couple has two children, a two-year-old and a four-year-old. t being cared for by relatives. the teen known for his "affluenza" defense in court is back on u.s. soil. mexican police arrested ethan couch in mexico last month. he is 18 years old. th

geoff: a wyff news 4 update in a helicopter crash. authorities found life rafts that were carried on the aircraft, but still no sign of the crew off the coast of hawaii. the military reports two helicopters collided during a training exercise last thursday. 22-year-old sergeant jeffrey sempler, from woodruff, is one of 12 missing. a vigil for sempler was held in his hometown yesterday. dozens prayed outside of woodruff city hall. family members fear the worst. >> the worst thing is he's not gonna have a future. all the things that he would have done in life, it's not gonna happen, there's gonna a hole there. geoff: sempler graduated from woodruff high school four years ago. his grandfather says he always wanted to be a marine. allyson: and an update in anderson county after human remains were found this weekend. the coroner has released the man's name. he says 46-year-old gary burton was reported missing in august, but his body was likely in the wooded area since may or june. investigators identied burton defibrillator he had implante
