commissioner wynns? commissioner wynns: this past weekend, i was at the unity conference, of the latino school board members association and the coalition of black school board members. a lot of people -- they asked me about that, and i have a lot of interesting material. then i just wanted to say this, because i just got this. san francisco has been named number one in "barron's" magazine as the 10 healthiest cities for families -- in " parents" magazine. the city by the bay rose to the top of our list in part because of its gutsy move to bring healthier foods to schools. san francisco booted soda and high-calorie, empty food five years before the state did and was one of the first places in the country to push for school gardens. california's with whole grain breads debuted in 2007. now, at least have have them. skipping, it says san francisco also goes the extra mile to keep kids active, with playgrounds, recreation centers, and 60 soccer fields, and there are miles of car free roads during designated

commissioner wynns: i appreciate that. for the public if you -- you should go look at roosevelt and the brickwork is extraordinary there which is why i was told they decided to make a big investment in that. it's a beautiful art deco kind of brick work. if you look, you'll see small metal, looks like rectangles, very expensive, even in those days, steel structure built on the inside with these rods coming out and things that hold the bricks on the facade and in the 1989 earthquake, that brick building, not one brick fell off, yet right along the area, there are houses like many in san francisco, stucco, one story above garage with brick facades around the garage and when you walked down the street you saw houses where the bricks all fell off. you know there was enough shaking that the bricks would have come off in the case of roosevelt, which is a brick build, would have probably fallen down. so i appreciated that and love that building. it's an extraordinary building. i want to say that we're so lucky to have these buildi

goocommissioner wynns: i wantedo make a few comments. there are reasons to do this. for decades we have been talking about changing kindergarten age, but most people who are experts in early childhood believe we should, that most kids in day age we now have in california, a quarter of them are too young for kindergarten, so this was put in place as a compromise so school districts would not lose money. one of the things that is most challenging about it is whatever the political motivation, this is an enormously complex challenge, and this is not the time to engage in that because it costs money of. they are making this an even more difficult for us, so i have one practical question that comes to mind. if you look of the number of kids, i am presuming that next year there would be one classroom in the school. if that is true congress it seems like the only practical way to do this. we are going to have parents complaining about schools. they are going to say i want the same access as before this was in place. go i want you to tell us what teachers are saying about th

we have a weak report coming from wynn resorts out of macao.the big four macao-based casinos are listed here in hong kong, down between 5% and 6%. that was the impact on the hang seng, the nikkei down over 1%. the stock that continues to weigh on the nikkei, olympus down another 5% in tokyo today. that's the reaction to its admission that it paid a fee to an adviser of $687 million. now, that fee was initially raised by the former ceo, this gentleman, michael woodford. he was fired on friday. the management said there were differences in management direction and methods. he was fired after raising this whole issue about the acquisition which involved that big payout. michael woodford is a 30-year veteran. he was fired on friday. as i said, that $687 million that he was quoting in which the company now confirms, is actually double what the chairman, the current chairman of olympus, said on thursday. the number is a third of the value of the acquisitions. the acquisition came in around $2.1 billion, almost $700 million worth of that went out for

is there is no more comment on items 6 through 11 -- commissioner wynns: i want to comment on the retroactivity. if you could comment about the issue that we thought this was there, and we need funding for it, that is something i would like to know. an e-mail would be fine for me. the other thing is the issue of retroactively, i appreciate the concerns about that, but on this issue when the money you think is fair from a certain source, that is a legitimate retroactive ishiguissue. you are making an amendment, because you have the wrong names, so there are things that become an attractive -- retroactive through nothing we can control. and we have had people say, they did the work, so we have to find a way to pay them, so if there is a way to distinguish them, most of them are just all the information is not there or the money is not there. we make those judgments ourselves by looking at the reasons, but some staff inside might be good. >> this is somewhat of a moot point, up because the reality is we are moving to make this electronic. it takes so long. some of the problems we have had is that
