memory of mckalay lynch she was a third grade student who passed away on mother's day and commissioner wynns and i attended her memorial service at sunset last friday. and i have to say, for such a tremendously sad event, a 9-year-old child should not lose their lives and for a tragic and sad event, it was just so pitch-perfect for an elementary school the entire school community was in the cafeteria, most everybody was wearing purple because that was her favorite color, all of the classrooms did art projects in their own way to remember mckayla and to honor her and the students spoke about things that they remembered about their friend and classmate, teachers spoke, and her mother spoke and her father spoke, remembering her and thanking the school community for really being a safe place for her. and for a parent of a child with a severe and profound disability, i can't... i can't think of any greater gift to know that when you send your child to a school every day that that school is loved. and celebrated and appreciated. and that is what... the gift that sunset gave mckayla and her family,
