does not come to wyoming. she does not come here to talk to us to explain her vote or defend the decisions that she is making. she focuses a lot of time on the january 6 mehdi but is not addressing the issues that are important to wyoming. i'm the only real proven success up here on this stage. i have been fighting the issues for wyoming for over 25 years. i have been fighting to protect our water rights, property rights and constitutional rights. i been representing our municipalities, counties, the state of wyoming, farmers and ranchers, oil and gas companies, irrigation districts, small businesses. i have been representing them and fighting against the federal overreach we have talked about over and over again tonight. i have fought back and beat the epa, the usda, u.s. fish and wildlife service. i actually on the one person who has done something to get more access to federal lands in the state of wyoming. i know how these agencies work. i have the experience to go back there and actually fight against the

, who won wyoming overwhelmingly. this puts her on the opposite side of the choice of republican voters in wyoming. secondly, though, i think her larger problem is she was sorta viewed as somebody who spent most of her life outside of wyoming, even though her father had a pretty extensive political history in the state, came to wyoming in order, initially, to try to primary a sitting republican senator. that didn't work out very well. the house seat came open. she was able to run for it and win it. a lot of this has brought back some of those bad feelings that maybe she's a creature of northern virginia and not of conservative wyoming politics. her overall voting record is still reflective of a lot of what wyoming republicans want. host: is a true liz cheney and adam kinzinger voted with republicans 90% plus of the time? guest: it is true. i think adam kinzinger is more of a moderate republican than liz cheney, but certainly. and liz cheney did not position herself as a trim critic for most of trump's term -- as a tru

of course, do these people get re-elected in wyoming?ehind the scenes, publicly versus behind the scenes running here, there are republicans in congress saying thank you to her? >> well, yeah, quietly. make sure this is off the record, thank you, i really admire what you're doing. are you doing okay? they look her earnestly in the eye. she doesn't tend to appreciate this. there's a joke, in public life, there's always a gap between what people say publicly and privately, different audiences, i think anyone can recognize that. in all of my years of politics, in doing this, talking to republicans living through this, i've never seen that big of a gap between the public, the private and the conscience. and what they're able to live with. it creates a real distance. >> you talked to former house speaker paul ryan, who you said not being a crier but sobbed uncontrollable when he saw what happened on january 6th where he spent all of his entire adult life. >> yeah. >> but you also note he was not inclined to grapple with his own situation? >>

i find it a long shot in wyoming.tainly it's a strategy if i were running her campaign, yi would employ, no doubt. >> there were people -- i don't know if it was all democrats, but those who are pro abortion, right, pro choice, i should say, they were upset with liz cheney because liz cheney applauded the supreme court's decision. liz cheney is conservative. no one should expect her to be a democrat. but they should applaud her and at least support her in terms of her irpin integrity and what she's doing for the country and democracy. >> i think they are. that's one of the reasons you see her have that major fund-raising advantage. i imagine she's getting money from all over the country, people who are seeing her bravery and her courage leading this committee and likely costing her her political future as a republican in this party as it stands now. but i just don't think you're going to be able to organize enough democrats, enough independents to cross over in this primary and kind of beat the trump train at this poi

she knew this would make it very difficult for her to get re-elected in wyoming. because the republican base is still with donald trump. you know, it's unclear at this point whether it is the base leading trump or trump leading the base. at some point, you have to look at those voters and, in the face of mountains and mountains of truth, revealed not just by the january 6th committee but by, you know, events over the last six years about donald trump, who he is, what a danger he presents to our democracy, to our republic, to whatever you want to call it, and the republican base is unfazunphase that because they want what trump continues to sell. this is going to be very difficult for liz cheney. now, there's some slippage. trump has seen slippage among big donors, obviously. some leading republicans are getting nervous about the idea of him still essentially being in charge of the party. right now, the likely candidate in 2024. we'll see about that. but it's tough for liz cheney. you know, maybe she can convince enough democrats to cross over and vote in the repub

in wyoming, a retiring plant is a nuclear plant. and my administration is a partner, driving federal resources and funding. and that's why they need to be taken care of well. i want to thank cecil roberts and so many other labor leaders who are working on these initiatives. since i took office, we invested $4 billion in federal funding in the hardest hit coal, from west virginia, kentucky, to wyoming and new mexico. through the infrastructure law, we investing in clean hydrogen, nuclear and carbon capture. we have secured $16 billion to clean up abandoned mines and wells, protecting thousands of communities from toxins and waste particularly methane. and we are going to seal leaking methane pollution and greenhouse gas that is 40 times more dangerous to the environment. the american leadership back on climate, i was able to bring more world leaders together and get 100 nations to agree at a major conference in england -- scotland to change the emissions for policy. we made real progress, but there is enormous task ahead. we have to

suggested taking those lands from wyoming and idaho and montana. again, giving those lands to the department of the interior for the benefit and enjoyment of the people. really creating this democratic landscape of tourism which was a new idea. the bill was sent to each bodies committee on public lands for review and recommendation. hayden consulted with those committees and help them to write their very positive reports. on january 30th, 1872, the senate debated, they had two major issues, one was federal overreach this was the contentious issue. it brought up about the american civil war. it was not resolved in that conflict. again, the only congressional precedent was the federal government giving land to a state. democrats were very concerned about this issue, especially in the context of reconstruction. a period in american history when the federal government really exerted a self and unprecedented ways to protect the rights of citizens and provide things for them. republicans, of course, most of them, although a group of moderate republican s

and then take the land so they wanted to actually expand into wyoming to take up that land because at that point that northern entrance was really the only way in no one had really discovered the other possible entrances it seemed you know, when they when they saw the tetons they're like, what are we supposed to do with this? how are we going to get over those? right? so they the the montanans in particular saw the park as theirs and so they've just taken little pieces and i think they probably have to do with mountain ranges and also waterways that were important areas of access for the park itself. right, that makes sense. all right, so i think we're gonna ask one more question. maybe we have time for two, but did general sheridan have a role in protecting, yellowstone? that's a great question sheridan who was one of the commanders in this region of the us army actually did send a another exploring team that was explicitly military and they kind of hooked on to hayden's survey who's a little annoyed by that. it was led by a guy named john barlow and hayden was a little annoyed becau
