the most famous story about this in the 70s is what happened at yale. yale had a women's crew team but they weren't allowed to use a boat house. the men had a really nice boat house after they worked out in the icy winter, kind of like what we've had this week or whatever. the men could go in and change and get warm, take a hot shower, and then ride comfortably back to campus. the women had to work out on the water, even if it was raining, and then just go sit on a bus in their soaking wet clothes until they went all the way back to campus. and a lot of them ended up with pneumonia, and they wrote grievance after grievance and then finally the captain of that team and some of the other women went into the office of the president of the university and took off their shirts and with naked torsos stood in a row with title ix painted on their chests. they got a boat house. great story, right? okay. so let's say in some scenarios you would see schools adding here, trimming there, but everyone had a kind of independent solution. and in fact, a lot of schools
