linda yee tells us, her attorney blamed it in part on a brain tumor. >> mary admits she walked out ofmann marcus without paying, but the assemblywoman decided not to fight the charge anymore. last october, police arrested her for stealing a leather skirt and other clothing worth $2500. her attorney told prosecutors she has a treatable brain tumor, which may have impacted her decision making abilities. today in court, the felony grand theft charges were reduced to a misdemeanor. >> mary's attorneys let the prosecutors know that the brain tumor was something that occurred to her, may have been an issue, but she is not using that as an excuse. she always admitted she was forgetful, she was distracted. today she pled no contest and moving forward on a very successful political career. >> i have to ask you though, if something like this, like a brain tumor can impact her decision making abilities, is she fit to serve? >> she has been one of the stellar members of the state legislature with or without a brain tumor, she is a great elected leader. she made a mistake. >> brain tumors can caus

that's where linda yee is right now with the latest. >> dana, the attack happened inside that house you see right behind me. it is on 20th avenue. police say the elderly woman who lived in there remains in critical condition at this hour. now details are still sketchy, but police believe while the old rally woman was attacked, possibly with a hammer and a knife, another woman delivering food to her from a nearby restaurant came on to the scene. the attacker then turned on her. she apparently ran back to the restaurant on noreaga, where workers called 911. now both women, the victims in this case speak only mandarin. there's some language difficulties and police haven't been able to get a good description of that suspect. they are working on that and the details on why this attack happened. meantime, the suspect is still at large. dana, back to you. >> linda, you say an elderly woman. any idea of this woman's age. >> they don't know. possibly in her 70s. she was home alone at the time she was attacked. it's unclear who may have triggered that attack and why. >> if anything changes, if yo

linda yee tonight on the disturbing details spelled out in the court documents. including some powerful words from the couple's two-year-old son. >> i really don't have anything to say. sorry. [ applause ] all right, we are going to come back to that story in just a little bit. but in the meantime, tonight a 14-year-old boy who oakland police say sexually assaulted two women is in custody. police say the suspect turned himself into alameda county juvenile hall this morning. they say both attacks happened within a half mile of each other. and in a rare move, investigators released the suspect's name because they considered him armed and dangerous. >> we strongly believe that if we did not put this information out in the interest of public safety, he would not have turned himself in. >> since he is now in custody, we are no longer identifying him because of his age. police have not determined whether the suspect actually used a gun in those attacks. >>> well it's a commonly held belief that in a disaster at sea, the captain goes down with his ship. but recently rel
