yerba buena island of the former bay bridge alignment. and the proposal there is rather than demolishing the pier all the way down to the mud line of the bay, as was in their original bcdc permit, caltrans has proposed and bckc has approved removing the upper portion of the pier and then constructing access from the shoreline out to the pier, as a public access improvement to bring people out on to the bay and give them a different experience along the shoreline. so this is where pier e2 is relative to the east end of the island and the new bay bridge. and this is some shots of the construction in progress. you can see they've already taken the pier down to the intended level and back to the shoreline they've cruxed it. -- constructed it. and planned view of how that will tie in with the proximity to the torpedo building and access back to north gate road. because caltrans needs to do some environmental work in the vicinity of area where the parking and bike racks are indicated, there will be a phased improvement to the site, with some in

everything from oceanside to southeast plant and all the computations including treasure island and yerba buena. we have all the preventative responsibility, maintaining maintenance and also keeping up with work orders from operations. i would say one of the things fortunately for me is the staff is incredibleably motivated. the staff here knows what to do, how to do the job safely, and it makes my job incredibly easy. >> they know the job, and they know the challenges, and i think it's all about personal pride. they want to do a good job. from our maintenance group to our i.n.c., dedication to the people. when they're going home, and they're crossing the bay bridge, and they get a call that there's a problem with a pump station on treasure island, they return to work. they turnaround in westbound traffic and get back to work and get this pump back in line, and i can't tell you how much that means to me as a boss and the city and county of san francisco. >> as a group, if they didn't do what they do, the streets would be flooded with waste and gray water, and it could become a health hazard. we

this would help us to develop the yerba buena island bike path that comes across the san francisco open island bay bridge, across the islands and across the west span of the bay bridge into san francisco proper, so we've been working with a whole bunch of folks for a potential first phase that comes down treasure island road, eventually hoping to bring that bike path and pedestrian path all the way over to the main land, excuse me. we've also had good conversations with the water agency transportation agency. this is weta. our projects manager, eric cordoba presented in february or march, and we've been working on different ways to bring water transit to and from the island. this is a perfect route that we hope we will be able to bring in time for the first housing on the island in a couple of years. in terms of outreach that chair haney mentioned, we do have outreach in april. we will be presenting that to the island businesses in particular to sit down and have good cocreations session, to figure out ways to shape that transit policies for the community there. with that, i conclude my

the vitality and again the longevity of the treasure island and the yerba buena islands are actually encumbered on the proper maintenance of the 300 plus acres of parks, the largest in the history of san francisco. i think the takeaway -- it's unfortunate that some of our commissioners were not part of that delegation to new york, because the exercise there was to look at signatures, iconic parks throughout the country. what the genesis are, what are the models, successful models that people are utilizing to maintain these parks. parks are extremely very expensive. one of the mistakes that people in san francisco finally realized, when the san francisco development agency was dissolved, they had created all of these parks. and even as i speak, the city is still grappling with the maintenance of all of those parks. here you have all of these assets, all over the place throughout the city. and we do not know what they're going to look like in 20 years' time and even don't talk about the 30 years. we have the responsibility here at this agency for the maintenance, for some of the spaces
