"today in new york's" katherine creag is in western new york where the investigation is full effect, kat? >> reporter: and michael, the father of the little girl said that he is destroyed. what we see here out of the intersection where that horrible tragedy happened. been growing in memory of that little girl. she was only 7 years old. the child and her mother walking hand in hand crossing this intersection were hit by the driver of an suv, we have video of that vehicle. the most recent surveillance video of the suv released by police. the driver of the black chevrolet tahoe at the corner of van buren place and 61st street turned as the little girl named shayla and her mother were crossing the street. the driver struck both of them even got out of the vehicle for several seconds looked at the child on the ground and the mother and took off. the child died at the hospital. she was the only child of her mother and father. so many people van buren, 61st street have left flowers and balloons. so many people were out here, angry about this driver hoping that he or she turns themselves in.
