i arrived in yosemite and therefore yosemite arrived in me. and i was overwhelmed by the beauty of yosemite. i actually think that people who are not overwhelmed by the beauty of yosemite should seek medical care. i remember being in the on the bus with a woman that said, it's not all that. it's not that. and i was thinking how sad that she thinks that this is not all that because yosemite is that and more we should have that on signs yosemite is all that and more because if because the thing that i realized is that when i walk out from the valley visitor center i've walked out into a painting by thomas cole or thomas hill or bierstadt. and when i first saw their artwork, i thought, oh, the romantic period, there are just exaggerating this. and sometimes, you know, bierstadt had a tendency to move things around that were made out of granite because it looked a little bit more dramatic. and the lights and shadows and all of that. but when i was in yosemite, i walked out after closing the visitor center into a bierstadt painting into a thomas hi

yosemite gets a lot of publicity. whether it's a fire, rock site, or someone gets injured, it's always in the news. this week where this change did not reach many people. i think they thought initially of course you need a reservation to camp. there wasn't really clear that you need a reservation to access the park itself. that was the distinction you had to make. >> that is increasingly true. needing reservations just to access the park. at acadia, to do the drive of the mountain. i recently didn't go because i just could not manage, long with everything else involved with taking a vacation as a single mom of three kids, to figure that out. i guess one of the things i'm concerned about is equity here. reservation.gov, a lot of the website. a lot of the reservations are available six months out. congress definitely can't plan six minutes out. we definitely can't plan six months out. i think i've canceled more reservation than i have been able to use. can you talk a little bit about some of the equity issues involved i

yosemite sits there. there is plenty of snow falling now. we could have 3 to 4 feet to go in the valley that will fall. this is going to be one of those winters that goes down in memory in yosemite valley in terms of the depth of the snow pack. meanwhile, back at home, if we look at our first alert day, south bay is still getting a little bit in places. most times it is like rain. if we have a closer view to see the yellow and orange, it is right through the southern edge of the santa clara valley now. it is working its way through san jose. it will go down 101 and head towards gilroy and morgan hill before long. so that line right there is slowly marching its way to the south. if we look over towards the east, it is snowing on mt. hamilton. about 4000 feet easily, and you can see first alert doppler is reading that as snow. highway 130 is making its way toward the lincoln observatory. for everyone else, it's relatively quiet. there is the sound we were looking at. that one leaves. others will come in over the course of the afternoon. once w
