this morning i was in youngstown and youngstown, we produced the chevy cruz. that's a gm product that is the direct result of the president's intervention to bail out the automobile industry. >> as a former commander yourself, how do you think the president's done this week in terms of his role as commander in chief in what was really a national crisis? >> i think he's done extremely well in terms of his sympathy and empathy for the groups, his visit. i think he was smart not to go into new york city, where it's too congested, too many problems. i think he's also done well in terms of showing the power of the office by just the latest move of having the military assist in delivery of fuel. it also shows up the hollowness of governor romney, his flip-flopping. for example, on the issue of fema, he was suggesting months ago that maybe you don't need a federal emergency management agency, maybe you can just let each state fend for itself. now, imagine where we would be if someone had actually taken that advice and killed fema. you would have new york, new jersey,

youngstown is an iconic city. to think there is almost a $1 billion steel mill because of the president's policies is a very good sign. there are good feelings in ohio the way things are going. we have got a long way to go. who will move us forward? who will make the investment in the new energy economy? who will make the investments into the research and development? we have a lot of universities in ohio. we can be a huge part of restructuring the new economy. we have to make sure we do not have a bunch of ideologues in the political realm. we have to have people who recognize that investments in basic research can lead to economic development in ohio. i'm optimistic. politically, we have a great ground game in ohio. i have 14 or 15 obama offices in my congressional district. there are people knocking on doors right now, making phones. we have a huge weekend ahead of us for getting out the vote. a mobilized and energized base. we have had bill clinton here, joe biden, the president, etc. politically, we are going

blue collar akron, youngstown, across to toledo. the northern industrial part of the state, the obama campaign believes its margins will be even better than 2008 because of the auto bailout. we'll watch and see how it plays out. in the middle, governor romney has to win and cincinnati is another county we'll watch the early returns, the president's ahead in hamilton county but it's very early. >> that's a key county. we have another projection to make right now. cnn projects that mitt romney will carry the state of georgia and its 16 electoral votes. right now with 7% of the vote in georgia in, mitt romney way ahead 67% to 32%. he's got nearly 100,000 vote advantage. those 16 electoral votes will go in the column of mitt romney. where do we stand right now on the road to 270? that's what's needed to be elected president of the united states. president obama still with a slight advantage so far, 64 electoral votes in his column, according to our projection, 56 for mitt romney. it's close but we have made that projection in georgia. n
