we are in yountville right now. as we were heading up here from signorello winery, that structure completely lost. the vineyards leading up looked intact. we drove up the trail and we were nearly i believe it's called pelican inn. we came across this man who lives up in the hills whose family, second generation lived up here for years. he said everything started 11:00 last night it has been crazy. he has been up since then. he lost his water, got a generator pumped the water out of the pool he and his cousins were able to save three homes back there. but he said -- we saw him he was putting out hot spots still popping up in the office that was burned and he lost farm equipment. he was not leaving. he never left all night long. we left him came up the road. and it was really quite a sight to see the fire burning along this ridge. firefighters again as i mentioned very successful one thing we noticed too silver ado trail normally very busy. it's very quiet obviously because it's closed. we have seen some fire engining

to get to the yountville veterans home.we gave them an escort and got them taken care of. also, we assisted additional 80 other people that needed to get to the hospital. we have the assets we need. if we need more to assist with evacuations, we'll coordinate that with the director and provide those services. and also, the other assets we have is our rescue helicopters. i don't know if many of you know this, but on sunday night into early monday morning, two of our chp helicopters, one based out of the napa airport and one based out of redding, between those two helicopters and those crews, they rescued 44 people, five dogs and two cats. and we're very helpful and thankful to get those people to safety. and we look forward to continuing to work with our partners there and address this very catastrophic problem. thank you. >> i'm major general dave baldwin with the california national guard. we currently have 700 soldiers and airmen on duty supporting both fire fighting efforts as well as consequence management that comes wi

yountville south-southwest as well at 6. and vacaville 8 miles per hour.pected gusts this morning 25 to 35-mile-per-hour winds in the morning hours. so it's going to continue to move flames northeast. they are calm in st. helena. what we're noticing, it's going to be a continuous shift. so this afternoon winds will be stronger later. right now in fairfield up to 17 but then we are going to see the winds change direction increasing those winds. so you can see it here with our futurecast. you get a sense of what's happening. santa rosa, napa and fairfield are on fire. the winds are going to continue to stay strong throughout the morning. today, then later on tonight, this red flag warning will be in effect for all north bay hills because of the direction of the hill. 30 to 35-mile-per-hour gusts this afternoon. when the winds shift, hm comes down. right now there's still moisture in the air but tonight into tomorrow night we'll see the winds also stay strong but our humidity levels will drop. so winds will be strong this morning and then again increase tonig

it happened around 6-30 am on oakville grade near yountville. chp says the driver was headed down the steep road to refill the water tanks when the truck went down the embankment. the truck was providing water to fire crews battling the nuns fire. no word on the cause of the crash... but the firefight has been going on for a week now.. and authorities acknowlege that exhaustion could be a factor.### (grant) we have some updates on evaucation orders that we want to tell you about. evacuation advisory orders have now been lifted in parts of sonoma county. bennett valley road and the area east of petaluma hill road. kenwood, boyes hot springs, glen ellen, and parts of the city of sonoma. exactly where these four fires are as we look at the one, the atlas fire, just to the south of yountville, that's the atlas fire moving into solano county. the partridge fire to the south of there and we talked to bob, near the nuns fire in sonoma county and the tubbs fire has been affecting parts of santa rosa. the red flag warning, once again, increases the fire danger as the winds increase and the humidity drops. winds coming in from the north-northeast at 20-30 miles per hour starting this evening and peaking tomorrow morning. the gusts may reach over 50 miles an hour for the mountain ridges, the hill tops and that's where we will see the highest gusts. the humidity will be going down once again. we'll continue to monitor those winds speeds as we go through the day. an update on how things are moving as far as highways, the road closures, let's head to mike. >> they continue to shift as it has fire shifts. highway 12, yesterday, we had a lot of closures, downed power lines and fire here outside santa rosa. those parts reopened. bob is coming up through here, in toward the glen ellen a

of course, right next to napa and yountville looks like it's coming down there on 80 as well between fairfield and vacaville. and that's over the past three hours. you can see it start to thicken up even more there right along the areas where the fires are burning. here's a look at the conditions in those areas. winds right now in sonoma coming from the southwest at 8. healdsburg north wind at 7. gusts up to 25 miles an hour but not what we were fearing so the wind gusts seem to have happened outside of the fire zones. right now, the particulate matter in the air for sonoma is unhealthy. oakland is seeing particulate matter in the range of 150. san francisco around 160. so of course that's why we're seeing the smoke in the sky. this is a look from our vaca cam. it certainly doesn't feel good on a lot of people's lungs. here's a look at some of the peak gusts we experienced today. mount diablo in the 50s. oakland hills in the 30s. san francisco in the 30s, as well. but again, it missed those fire zones. we didn't get that strong wind event in those locations we were fearing. back to y

napa, yountville, sonoma, rohnert park, santa rosa, communities nearby. that's where the smoke will continue to be the worst. now as we get look at the extended forecast what you see as janelle mentioned temperatures not too hot and that's great news for firefighters to get a handle on this. you can see from tuesday all the way through saturday temperatures in the 70s. and then we will see warmer low 80s by next sunday and monday. what i've also done on the 7-day forecast in the north bay. this is a north bay 7-day forecast is highlighted what the wind will be the next several days. because that of course is going to be key to the firefighters. it's very variable in terms of the wind direction over the next few days. but the good news is no majored wind event like last night and early this morning. on tuesday it ranges 5 to 10. wednesday 5 to 15, thursday 5 to 13, friday 5 to 10-mile-per-hour. here is the thing we are wachb out by saturday and sunday we could have more dry winds out of the northeast 10 to 20-mile-per-hour. that would be another fire wind.
