and yountville. clearlake, ukiah.ree, four five inches potentially six inches of rain falling in parts of northern sonoma, northern napa county. that is why we have that flood risk starting on wednesday. and that's why i want folks in these areas to do their storm preps today and tomorrow, have them complete by wednesday morning, just as that rain begins to arrive. so looking at rainfall totals through the rest of the week, i mean, it is not out of the question that there could be some areas in parts of mendocino, lake county, northern portions of sonoma and napa county that we're closing in on a foot of rainfall outside of the north bay, a lot less rain, less than an inch of rain in the south bay, the inland east bay, probably an inch of rain in the city through the week that we can handle, but we're focusing our attention, certainly on the north bay for the next 5 to 7 days. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. sunny and breezy today. increasing clouds tomorrow. by wednesday and thursday, the worst impacts wil

yountville over eight inches of rainfall. boulder creek in the santa cruz mountains, also three quarters of an inch of rainfall. san jose zero. but this is what we're seeing in a warming world with climate change. as we are seeing these atmospheric rivers also changing now, we know that our atmospheric rivers help recharge our water supply. it helps fill the reservoirs, but can also cause flooding and other hazards when we get too much all at one time. and it can also bring more rain happening faster. and that's definitely what we're seeing with this storm system. could see 50% more runoff from flood risk and all of this heavy rain coming so fast all at one time. we're seeing this storm system that's continuing to spin across the pacific northwest. but notice this other little feature behind that. that's another area of low pressure. and so these two are going to kind of spin around each other. this is going to become the dominant low and really kick things into gear and push this system farther to the south. and much more of

but this graphic here coming up for you, showing you the big range and rainfall totals from yountville over five inches, half moon bay, 0.82. oakland just about a quarter of an inch of rainfall. and look at livermore, barely measurable 0.01 and other parts of the bay area have not picked up much rain at all, so this has been focused up in the north bay. here's our live camera looking out toward sfo right now, where we have some cloud cover in place, but not much in the way of rain activity. so here is that system. as you can see, this was basically the same satellite we were showing you yesterday that moisture stream continues to move on into portions of the north bay. especially we've had some steady rainfall for other parts of the bay area, but as we showed you, those real high totals have been up in sonoma, mendocino, parts of napa county, as well as we come in closer to the bay area. radar, right now, we are showing you this flood advisory. so this was in place yesterday. it has expanded across parts of the bay area once again, including parts of marin and napa county. and it has b

. >>> we continue our first alert weather coverage with sooji nam live in downtown yountville tracking the storm's impact on the peninsula today. what's the conditions there right now? >> reporter: that's right. i am here in downtown mountain view. i've been out here all this afternoon. it's been on and off. early in the afternoon it was pretty light rain, but definitely it's picking up the past few hours, a bit lighter now, but residents are definitely expecting more rain through the night. it's a gloomy and soggy friday on the peninsula as the atmospheric river that's been stalled over the north bay finally makes its way south. i started the day driving on skyline boulevard, where there were strong winds and heavy rain throughout the morning. along the coast carrie lee in half moon bay was having a case of weather whiplash. >> i think especially this year it has taken us by a little surprise because it was like really, really nice weather through october and through the beginning half of november. >> reporter: she runs highway 92 succulents. carrie said the rain impacts her business,

it's a similar story with the cell moving into yountville.pretty much near mill valley and vallejo for areas to the south and east. this morning it is a quiet start, but it's the north bay. we focus our attention today because this atmospheric river is basically stalled and there's a lot more moisture off the coast that's moving into the north bay throughout the afternoon and into the evening. it's a level two today for that heavy rain in the north bay outside of the north bay, the showers are a lot lighter and the impacts are minimal, but that heavy rain created a flood watch in the north bay this morning. we have some gusty winds and some rough surf, so here's future weather just watch how that heavy rain stays in the north bay all day long. a couple of light isolated showers are very possible around lunchtime outside of the north bay, but that heavy rain continues into the afternoon and into the evening. daytime highs will be in the mid 50s to the mid 60s. we'll talk about the flood watches and the wind advisories coming up in eight minute

santa rosa 8.89 yountville 6.78, san rafael over five and a half sonoma just over five inches. so with this number here in santa rosa and really for a lot of the bay area on these high totals, we've now seen four months worth of rain in just two days. many cities average only two inches for the entire month. so here's what we're looking at the system right now. meeting up with that atmospheric river that's just kind of hanging out, that moves through tomorrow. we'll see a second one back behind it for sunday and early monday. it doesn't look nearly as strong, so i'm not really concerned about that. but let's go ahead and take it into what we're seeing with that right now. and you can see on storm ranger doppler radar, we do have that rain up into marin, napa, sonoma counties, little to nothing here, san francisco to the south bay, but where we still think we could get in on a break would come as we head through later tonight, maybe around 910 and 11:00, we'd actually be looking at some dry conditions for the north bay, as this system just lifts off to the north for a little bit

so big totals to the north, calistoga over 13, guerneville, yountville, sonoma, san anselmo all over 7 to 13. novato at the novato library 512 petaluma. also over five napa in town, probably up to about five by now. you can find a lot more than that. and on atlas peak and other areas higher elevations or even northward, the russian river at guerneville is now expected to crest at 34.2. we told you this would happen and it is. this is a couple feet above flood stage. it looks like it will be higher at the hacienda bridge near healdsburg. so flood warning out this goes until 4 a.m. actually, on the russian river, 4 p.m. for east central sonoma county. but the areas of focus will be johnson beach, guerneville and of course, hacienda bridge. but our system is moving and so all week long people are saying east and south, where's my rain? they're taking it all in the north. well, that's true, but the pattern has changed a little bit. they're still getting rain, but now look at marin county lit up now heading over san pablo bay, heading more towards southern napa county and solano county. a

also here, saint helena, yountville and napa included in this with some widespread 30s. so you want to make sure to bring those pets inside. check any exposed irrigation pipes outside as we could get some patchy frost. you want to cover up those sensitive plants so how low is it going to go? well, you'll see the average here of 35 in calistoga, 34 in santa rosa, 37 in napa. i think up into the north bay, we could even get temperatures going a little colder than this right here in clear lake. 31 dublin 37. we may actually get to some mid 30s here through the south bay as well. so some frost advisories may be extended here throughout the rest of the bay area. nonetheless, it's going to be cold. so right here on that 7-day forecast, once we get over the chill saturday morning, another chance of some spotty showers sunday and monday. and then we got some sunshine tuesday, wednesday and thursday. and we're also looking at those temperatures for the inland valleys coming in with the 60s. so we got some november weather on the board coming on in. feels like it for sure. thanks,

yountville over eight inches in the santa cruz mountains, we are close to an inch, while in san joseare still waiting for those raindrops to come down. but once again, taking a look at more of those widespread rainfall totals since this storm began has really been blowing a lot of records out of the water, and we're seeing our storm ranger tracking this system. it's parked on san bruno mountain, and we're going to see the storm covering much more of the bay area. and at times, the showers will continue this weekend with some breaks. the cierra will have a winter storm warning in effect, so this storm system still is really having a high impact on the region. but starting now to push into other areas and let's take it now to our ginger conejero saab now in the north bay, where some neighborhoods have seen over that foot of rainfall in the past couple of days. and there's more in store. ginger. so what are you seeing there in santa rosa? yeah, i imagine that people in these neighborhoods will be watching closely. kari as the rain continues. we're on francisco avenue here in santa rosa.

yountville street level radar heading into napa, boyes hot springs seeing some downpours as well. some parts of the north bay have received anywhere from a half a foot to a foot of rain. occidental, picking up even more than that. and as you will notice, there is a flood warning up for sonoma county. also, flood warnings for the russian river at hopland and a flood warning for the navarro river at navarro, as they are both expecting minor flooding in the next 24 to 48 hours. there is a flood advisory going for urban and small stream flooding for a good chunk of the north bay, where the atmospheric river has just been sending heavy downpours across the region. you look at the rest of the bay area and you'll say, what rain today? we've only had some very scattered light showers right now right around the santa cruz mountains. we're seeing some light showers as well. it is a level two on the storm impact scale for the north bay. not so much for the rest of us right now. as you will notice, there's another low developing tomorrow. everybody goes to a level two storm 6:00 tonight. heav

the estimates are nearly three inches at napa. 2.5in at santa rosa, nearly five inches at yountville.the north bay is the hardest hit area in terms of rainfall totals. and that's why this flood watch is in effect for the entire north bay. all the north bay counties through friday night. flooding is not only possible, but likely in creeks and streams and in low lying roadways. excuse me. we also have a wind advisory in effect for all of the north bay and the bay shoreline and the coast. that's in effect until 6 a.m. tomorrow. winds the steady winds, the consistent winds will be out of the south at about 20 to 30mph, but gusts will reach or exceed 50mph. obviously, there is the possibility of downed trees and power outages. right now, we're looking at gusts of 30mph at half moon bay and 33 at concord, 30 at oakland, uh, 30 at hayward. all around the bay area around 25 to 30 mile per hour gusts. and because of this storm activity and the winds out to sea, we have a high surf advisory in effect until 6 a.m. friday. breaking waves will reach heights of 19 to 22ft. obviously dangerous surfi

but a few of you up towards yountville, saint helena and calistoga certainly could get close to the freezingk. and then right here over the east bay, we're checking in with 40. now, as we head through the day tomorrow, i am expecting lots of sunshine here throughout the bay area, from the north bay to the south bay. so i think overall it's going to be really enjoyable for us. and while we start off cold, we got a really good rebound coming. our way on those temperatures. we should manage to get up to 63 out here in concord, 60 in san jose, 62. morgan hill also low 60s. martinez, napa and santa rosa. so let's go ahead and move things into next week. if you remember yesterday i talked about some updated rain chances we could see in the long range. it looks like all of that could actually be speeding up by several days. so by the time we get to next tuesday, we're looking at what could be an atmospheric river starting to form out here in the pacific. now, the way things are showing it right now, we start to get in on a little bit of rainfall here. when we head into wednesday, atmospheric river

this is video of hopper creek in yountville spilling into a nearby street. and according to noaa, the russian river is currently sitting at just over 32ft. that qualifies it for the minor flood stage. for perspective, this morning, the river measured at about 28ft. the east bay also saw more wet weather today. heavy rain and winds knocked out power for several residents, and in the berkeley hills, a landslide shut down part of grizzly peak boulevard. debris blocked a lane of traffic. uc berkeley sent out an alert this afternoon urging people to avoid the roadway. let's bring in ktvu meteorologist mark tamayo, who's been tracking this storm all da. mark. hi there. greg. >> yeah. all week, in fact, we've been talking about the atmospheric river locked up in the north bay, finally making its move to the south today, leading to some real heavy rainfall, some flash flood warnings. and right now, the focus is moving into the south bay. rainfall totals over the past 24 hours. kentfield 3.86. boulder creek 3.74 san francisco. that's pretty impressive. almost three i

yountville over 11in, san rafael over ten inches napa over seven inches san francisco 53.72. oakland is about 2.68in. now, what's going to happen next? well, here's the forecast model and we will have a few lingering rain showers. first thing tomorrow morning. so you might wake up and notice some some raindrops out there. but we are expecting somewhat of a break into saturday afternoon, although there's a chance of still a few scattered showers sunday. by the afternoon hours, another system wants to come on board. it's not a major storm, but still it will bring in some scattered rain showers and this monday deal. this. actually the focus could be down to our south down toward down toward monterey bay. so we'll keep an eye on that. and then into tuesday, the chance of a shower looking way ahead into wednesday and thursday, forecast models suggesting we could have a chance to dry out. here's the satellite and the radar. and once again, that active radar pattern throughout the day. rain here in the bay area, also out toward the sierra. these are all of the storm reports. and the

you can see that 0.32 in fremont, maybe a little bit more than that in yountville in santa rosa.cking this up on the monday system, you can see we've got rain here, snow in the mountains and then stopping this on wednesday. not all the models are buying this, but it looks like a progressive flow where we could see a little bit more rain as we get into the end of the workweek. in terms of snow, mainly in the higher elevations, but still picking up anywhere from two to about five inches through your monday afternoon and evening. today, 66 downtown. that's average 67 in oakland with some low 70s where the sun is out for a little longer in san jose and the accuweather seven day forecast. so we've got increasing clouds, drizzle perhaps along the coast tomorrow with 60s to near 70. level one system on monday, the winds kick up and the rain arrives with partly cloudy skies on tuesday. and then by the end of the week we'll have more clouds and perhaps some rain or drizzle, but we'll keep you posted on that. stephanie. >> all right. lisa, thank you. when we return the legal fight against

ben lomond, sonoma, yountville, petaluma and oakland 0.04 to 11/100 as really cold air. i'm not used to showing this. usually in november, more likely december, january or february. all those speckled bands could easily drop some pretty good rain. and the upper system, the low, is going to be parked over us, at least parts of it. tomorrow morning. that's when the coldest air arrives. so mendocino county, lake county, northern napa county, up into sonoma county. you can see the line there. santa rosa, cotati, penngrove petaluma, now moving into marin county as well and beginning to thicken up some cloud cover there about san francisco. over to oakland and parts of the east bay. so that will be the area of focus later. there's a pretty good bands offshore, and some of these could easily swing in later today. there's not a lot associated in this kind of a pattern, but you can get a brief downpour maybe a 10th to 15/100. and low and behold, some thunderstorms are also possible. i mean, the parameters for it really aren't that great, but this kind of a cold air mass, the days
