he was an immigrant from the former yugoslavia and he learned english by watching documentaries many years earlier. when we watch this it was a line in the documentary. as is the ship that carried a bomb and was sunk at the end of world war ii. there was very little about it. being that kid i went to the library and i found nothing. i couldn't find any books and i found a couple of paragraphs here and there but i wanted to know more. what i did learn i wanted to make a movie about it. i wanted someone to make a movie about it and i thought by the time they did i would not be old enough to do it. by the time i was old enough someone surely would have made the story. by the time i turn 21 and graduated from pepperdine no one had made it. this was 2001. there's a book coming out called in harm's way but that was not out yet. i wasn't familiar with the other book. i just wanted to make a movie and i thought i would do it in two or three years tops.
