yvonne ndege is covering the polling stations for us. tell us how smoothly things are moving for you right now yvonne. >> well, back to that incident where we herds we heard gunfire. it was an attempt by security in this case and the independent international in favor of the ruling party the people's democratic party. shots were fired to see what was going on at this direction centers. we wanted to stay there but we were told for our safe and security it was better to leave. we do see many people when are heavily. officials from the independent commission have not been up here. there are supposed to be six polling units where i am. i can see 20 or so voters queuings. what voters are telling us is they feel afraid, insimilar intimidateed that they don't want people to take part of this election and that the ruling party will steal this election. but we're here to see what will happen to see if people will get an opportunity to vote, at least at this polling station so it's all organized and happening here. >> these are elections for budget

we'll go back to yvonne ndege. we're reading this again.e're getting this from the routers news agency. they're saying that the girls rescued in the army operation are not the chibok girls. and this goes along with what you were just saying. there are so many women kidnapped in nigeria. that it wasn't beyond the pale. and what is your reaction? >> we do have to be cautious because over the last six years boko haram had been kidnapping women and girls in many villages across the northeast region, across the north as a whole. and it is in theory possible as i was saying that these are women and girls from many different places. many different villages. the statement you read is being attributed to a military spokesperson. i'm going to believe that military spokesperson brigadier general who often briefs the media, if this is accurate, and we're going to check it out. obviously there will be a huge disappointment. as soon as these lines start to develop, over 200 girls have been rescued, which everybody have been speculating and many believe t

yvonne ndege is covering the story for us. what is the latest from river state? >> well, the election commission in rivers has started announcing results in this race, and so far what they're saying is that the ruling party the people's democratic party the party of president goodluck jonathan is in the lead. apparently it's managed to win at least 14l.d.a.'s, local government areas out of 23 in river state so it seems like a resounding defeat for the ruling party. people have been celebrating the fact that officials here have announced the ruling party is winning, however the picture is incredibly different elsewhere and this is happening against the backdrop of calls for the complete cancellation of the election that took place yesterday and in this areas today. what the opposition is saying just as you were in the intro is that no credible election took place, that there were widespread violence, election ma'am practices and irregular irregularities intimidation of voters and snatching of ballot boxers and no free election took place. they are calling on oppos
