zachary kiesch has more from people who live near the home on jackson place. >> reporter: police went door for this afternoon in alexandria informing residents of a violent robbery suspect still loose, and asking questions. >> it's very quiet. family friendly. stable neighborhood. >> reporter: for about 15 years now darrell nuremberg has called the northridge neighborhood home. >> close to the city. as new people come here and spend their lives here it's not very transient. >> reporter: friday this house on jackson place turned into a crime scene when an elderly couple returned to their home. inside an intruder in the process of carrying out a robbery. spooked perhaps, the suspect stabbed the 84-year-old homeowner. that man still in critical condition. and darrell says that's not all. >> the gentleman's wife was brought to an atm machine. that's the word going around the neighborhood. >> reporter: not far from here about a year ago, another alexandria resident was killed inside of her home. the suspect in that case charles severance, has been charged. >> randomness of this has everybo

right now news 4's zachary kiesch live on weeping willow court where the man was found. what's going on zach? >> reporter: folks are waking up here with news that somebody was murdered here in their neighborhood. just to take a peek and look at where we are, this is a set of apartment homes and townhomes just behind me here. last night about 12:30, a resident found somebody slumped over the steering wheel of their car. police determined that that person was shot and killed. you see the police tape here. you can see it's been an active scene. take a look at the video from last night, it was busy busy down here. detectives checking out the silver sedan, trying to pull some information there. it's very limited at this point. we do know again it's a male victim. the i.d. of the victim is not yet known. they h have it out to us later today. many residents here have been trying to walk down this path here this police tape here is blocking this path. folks trying to walk their dogs get a start to their sunday. they're learning that a gentleman was shot and killed just behind th

as news4's zachary kiesch reports, now they're hoping to one day be family pets. >> reporter: if dogsld talk rusty would have a story. >> 23 dogs were transferred in from a dog meat farm in south korea. humane society international handled that operation. >> reporter: rusty and all her friends arrived on two separate flights, both monday and tuesday to dulles airport, saved at a price tag of about 2500 bucks. >> they would be sold at markets, and people would purchase them for their meat. >> reporter: now they have a new lease on life, it seems. new names, for sure. like cocoa and snowball. rusty looks like a little lion. the previous owner of the dogs was trying to get out of the business. >> he said come to my farm and visit my farm along with -- we have been to several other farms, too. he's just the first to say, what would you think of taking our 23 dogs. >> reporter: here at the animal welfare league of alexandria they have become superstars. today the dogs got time with the press and were transferred to five other shelters until they're ready to be adopted. shelters in loudoun,
