. >> for the first time since he was fired george zimmer is talking about what happened.est known for his catch phrase you're going to like the way you look, i guarantee it, zimmer was the face of that company. earlier this year he was fired from the fremont-based company and now is telling how he learned about it all. zimmer says they basically began throwing him out of his office, offering him a figure head position instead of his job as ceo. then asked him to resign as director of the board and when he didn't they sent investors with ballots on without his name on. >> the markets continue to climb as we near the end of 2013. but things could be changing. let's check in with hampton pearson live at cnbc's washington bureau. good morning. >> yeah, we've got futures that are higher after stocks posted small gains monday. the the s&p 500 closing at a record high, although the markets did pull back on comments from several federal reserve officials who signaled they could at least discuss cutting the fed's massive bond buying program at next week's meeting. that program has

zimmer's pay according to the chronicle, has doubled, dr.roon's pay has dubilityd and murray's has quadrupled. the base pay was well over a million bucks. but they earned much more from their retirement packages, their bonus packages or indeed deferred compensation. now the universities are pointing out that scuch awards are there as an incentive to retain successful presidents like these three. and they also recognize their achievements for the total tenure, not just one year. they also point out that a key part of their function these days, particularly private schools, is fundraising. and that takes up an awful lot of time and these guys bring in more money than they take home. that is certainly true. meanwhile it is also worth mentioning that student loan debt in this country now exceeds $1 trillion. and look at this figure here. this is average what is owed by students, $29,000. and that's the average. a lot of people in this building carry more debt than that. you know who own more than the presidents? >> yes? >> the college football c

zimmer, he took home $3,358,723.17. he didn't take home that 17 cents, i made that up. >>> joseph bayone, 3,324,864. and the third highest was this man, dennis j. murray, he took home $2,688,148 and mr. murray has actually been the president of that college for more than 30 years. now, according to the chronicle, dr. zimmer's pay doubled, more than doubled in 2011, dr. ayune's more than tripled and murray's quadrupled in more than four years. the base pay was more than $1 million. and like many others, they earned much more from their retirement packages and they're bonuses or indeed deferred expectation. now, the universities are pointing out that such awards are just an incentive to retain a successful president. and to recognize the achievement of a total tenure, not just one year for these guys but all the time that they are at university and that is 35 years in the case of this guy here. it is also a reflection of one of the key parts of their job these days which is fundraising. and when you think about it, that's

in june, men's wearhouse ousted it's founder and chairman, george zimmer, in a dispute over the direction of the company. more trouble at target. banks including jpmorgan chase and citibank may sue target to pay for costs associated to last week's widespread hack attack. also, at least three class- action lawsuits have been filed against the retailer, alleging that target failed to maintain reasonable security procedures. last week, it was revealed that a security breach put data of 40 million target customers at risk. target says it is working closely with the u.s. secret service. swiss banks could be getting ready to "tell all." 300 banks in switzerland are considering seeking u.s. amnesty. the justice department is putting pressure on banks there to disclose details regarding american accounts. it's part of an effort by the justice department to crack down on offshore tax evasion. switzerland has long been a popular place for americans to park money due to lack of regulation. if banks choose not to tell, the government could pursue an investigation. lawmakers will head back to the hill
