please welcome the general anthony zinni.[applause] >> it is a true honor to be here and i want to commend tucson and the daily star and the university for this unbelievable event. i have spent all the walking around in the number of people that have come out the interest in reading, literature warms my heart and it is great to see the young people out here especially now many of us that our senior would obviously, but to see so many young people interested in books and reading and authors and lectures says something. this book, "leading the charge" came about almost unintentionally. several years ago i wrote a book called of the battle for peace. it was a book about how the world was changing around us ever since the collapse of the soviet union a confluence of things the perfect storm the soviet union collapsing the rise of globalization the information age mass migrations of people now seeking greater opportunity and a host of things that i watch for my last 10 years in the military then 10 years out of the business world
