. >> congresswoman zoe lofgren today following the money to an interesting place, this is -- this isesting, i think. and it is certainly an as yet unresolved part of the january 6th investigation. basically it's the question of what they're going to do about obstruction and witness tampering. the january 6th investigators say they know of multiple instances in which trump personally is said to have contacted a witness about his or her testimony to the investigation. they say one specific instance of that has already been reported to the u.s. justice department. but what congresswoman zoe lofgren described out and what's in the introduction to the report they released today implies that people on the trump side, members of the trump team have repeatedly been inducing witnesses to lie, inducing witnessing to withhold information, using veiled threats, promises and even money offering employment, offering to make one witness financially very comfortable, also providing lawyers for these witnesses. lawyers who then seem to be acting in trump's interest and not in the interest of these cl

joining us this morning is congresswoman zoe lofgren, she serves as a member of the house january 6thmittee. i thank you for being with us this morning. you were a part of that subcommittee studying whether to issue criminal referral so the justice department. what are you looking at? and what can we expect? >> the subcommittee is made up of all the lawyers. we met a couple times. what we want to do is to make sure that whatever recommendation, and that's all it is, to the department of justice that we could make is firmly rooted in the evidence that we have uncovered. and so we're working through this. we're not quite done, but we will be done within days for sure. taking a look at all of the evidence, comparing the evidence to the criminal code and then discussing that amongst us. there's no acrimony involved. we just want to be careful lawyers about this. >> the panel has made a case against donald trump. is there any scenario where criminal referrals are made that do not include the former president? >> we're looking at everything. our charge as a subcommittee was not just crimina

zoe lofgren at the beginning of this process was deeply skeptical of congress issuing criminal referrals. she thought it wasn't really their purview, who was maybe outside of their jurisdiction not really the right exercise for congress to be doing but over time they gained a level of confidence in the investigation that they were doing. they realized that they were ahead of the justice department in many aspects, and that they also realized that they had a role to play in educating the public about how certain actions violated certain criminal codes. they felt that they could even prevent present evidence and influence even the justice department and how to interpret some of these statutes to apply to what they believe were crimes that happened on january 6th and what led up to it. so i do expect that we will see multiple criminal referrals on monday but what's yet to be determined is exactly what charges and what they will recommend against which individuals. >> one other thing -- while there's two other ways of looking at a. they're either gonna put a lot of pressure on the doj, speci
