let's bring in california congresswoman zoe lofgren who served on the january 6th committee. for joining us. let's take these one at a time. first i want to get your reaction to those comments we ahead by speaker johnson to protect the identity of january 6th rioters by blurring capital footage! it's incredible, i served for years with mike on the judiciary committee. he doesn't make casual comments, so i think he fully intended to obstruct justice to prevent rioters from being prosecuted. the bizarre thing is that these -- the films of the rioters have already been shared with the department of justice. not only is he trying to prevent rioters from being prosecutored, -- prosecuted, it's a bozo move to think he could keep this from doj. >> you just said you think he's trying to obstruct justice? >> well, he made it pretty clear. blur the faces so the rioters could not be charged, what else is that? >> your republican colleagues are investigate fulton county d.a. and her investigation into election interference alleging there was cooperation of some sort with the january 6th

but first -- >>> joining me now is democratic congresswoman zoe lofgren.of the house january 6th committee, and she also worked for congressman john edwards in 1974 when president nixon was facing impeachment. congresswoman lofgren, thank you very much for joining us tonight. i want to start by just asking, are you concerned about this precedent that could be made from the supreme court for future presidents if they decide against special counsel jack smith? >> well, that would be extraordinary. and really, the president's u.s. versus nixon. i was actually on the staff and in washington when that case was decided, and the decision was that the president doesn't have absolute immunity. and in that case, of course, nixon was required to hand over the tapes and then, of course, resigned shortly thereafter. you know, this court has occasionally strayed from precedent, but it would be really shocking if they did so in this case. >> ginni thomas, the wife of supreme court justice clarence thomas, was involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 election. and you thi

january 6th you may not have agreed with on much, people like jamie raskin and nancy pelosi and zoe lofgrenllow members of the committee, i'm really proud of the work we did and the way we worked in a nonpartisan fashion, and we began when the committee started by saying, what are all the things that can go wrong? why have all of these committees, congressional committees mostly fail, and we knew this one couldn't. so the extent to which the members of the committee said, all right we're not going to put ourselves front and center. we're not all going to ask questions at every hearing. we're going to focus on the evidence itself, was really significant. we would not have succeeded without that. you mentioned jamie and zoe and certainly speaker pelosi, who deserves great credit for -- i think it was a decision that wasn't without risk to ask me to be on the committee given we're at totally different ends of the spectrum -- political spectrum, but also her willingness to make the tough decisions when we had to to make sure the litigation was pursued aggressively and make sure the facts were l
