zoetis, pfizer, celebrating its ipo.e animal health company is coming to post 9 in a few moments. over at the nasdaq, the american heart association is go women movement, celebrating national red day to raise awareness for women's heart disease. we have barely gotten to some of the big stocks moving today. >> we had exxon mobil, helped by refining margins. that is the story in the oil patch for the third and fourth quarter. refining is where the sweet spot is. we've seen a lot of refiners have amazing runs this year. certainly we're watching that one. >> 2012 for exxon, the second best year since they set a record in '08. earnings of $44.9 billion. earnings $44.9 billion. they've taken so many knocks for mistiming, some say, natural gas prices. but clearly their portfolio is able to make up for some of that weakness. >> it's a behemoth that keeps lumbering on. apple also earns a lot of money, too. they're neck and neck as to what they put up in the early numbers. >> that is true. apple, by the way, since we're mentioning

zoetis shares begin trading today under ticker symbol zts. meanwhile, tri-point homes shares jumped over $2 after its public debut on thursday. the home builder trades under tph. a challenging year resulted in disappointing earnings at ups. the shipping company reported a net loss, which the company says was caused by fewer shipments across the globe and weaker- than-expected holiday sales numbers. meanwhile, at mastercard, the company saw higher revenues due to an increase in credit card use. mastercard shares shot up to an all-time high of $536 before closing at $517. and, candy company hershey's is far from bitter. sales for all of its candy categories where solid, while profits were up 5.4%. law school applications are about to hit a 30-year low. this year about 54,000 applications are expected, according to the law school admission council. in 2004, 100,000 students applied. would- be students are turned off by pricey tuition, a massive debt load, and the lack of jobs in the field. some schools are trying to lure new students with tuitio

zoetis makes vaccines and drugs for livestock and pets. its a tough pill to swallow for merck & company. the drug company beat earnings estimates, but has released a cautious 2013 profit forecast. the company plans to delay action on its osteoporosis treatment until 2014. the company also notes falling global sales due to competition from generics. shares dropped 3% friday. the mcdouble could be causing trouble for mcdonald's. ground beef prices are up more than 6% and it's reportedly eating into profit margins. customers are lovin' the two-beef-patty burger that sells for one dollar. but it's a bad deal for franchise owners, who can lose money. according to a reuters survey, the mcdouble is selling for $1.09 in san fransico, $1.80 in alaska and $1.89 in new york. consumers will shell out big bucks in the name of love this year. come february 14th, americans will spend $20.8 billion on valentine's gifts for their sweeties. that's around $134 per person. shoppers are getting cozier with spending this year. sales are predicted to rise 3.2% f
