these power lines are powering a generator outside the zoo. there are four generators running, there's another four on standby. that generator outside is powering the reptile and amphibian room. these are one of the zones that they're particularly worried about. the reason why they're worried about it is because these animals right here need to be in a temperature-controlled environment at all times. other zones that they're worried about at the zoo, the bug house, the conservation center where they have endangered frogs. those critically need power. the silver lining is that there are animals here at the zoo that could care less that the power is out. we're talking about the bigger animals, the pigs, the elephants, the otters, the alligators. but still, this is a major headache for the skeleton staff here at the zoo. they're losing money by the day. as prepared as they are, they have no idea when the power is going to come back on. so guess what -- they're having to do exactly what this frog right here is doing right now, and that is holding

we did see a lot of police officers at the zoo yesterday.hey were monitoring the area because there's a lot of concern about fire threat. the zoo, of course, sits in the oakland foothills. it's dry out there right now. in the hills along -- >> and this is the most critical time of year. it's been so long since we've had any rain or significant rain. we're at the very end of the season before we start to see those systems coming in. we also get pushes of gusty winds, so that's what we are seeing right now. this is a live look outside in fremont and a lot of people getting up and heading to work and getting started with the day. we will have temperatures that are cool as we head out the door. some of our mountain tops have been measuring high gusts going through the north bay, mt. st. helena, seeing sustained winds at 43 miles an hour and gusts up to 70 miles an hour. mt. tamm about 35 there. we were talking about the fire around moraga. about 37-mile-per-hour gusts. then you head over to mt. diablo and those gusts are kicking up close to 75 m
