the bill drew national attention this week after republican leaders exiled transgender lawmaker zooey zephyrhey said her remarks against the bill violated decordecorum. more than a dozen states have banned transgender care. joining me is alana redfield with the williams institute, a think tank that focuses on gender and sexual orientation issues in law and policy and informs these conversations with facts and not rhetoric. that is why we havbo gender affirming care, especially for trans minors, people immediately think surgery. they think it's pharmaceutical. is that the right context in which we should be having this conversation? >> thank you, victor. that's a great question, because actually there's a lot of misinformation about what kinds of care trans youth might receive. for very young kids, it's often just affirmation of their gender. as they get older, it's talk therapy. for some kids, it involves puberty blocking medication which would delay the onset of puberty. in some cases it's hormone therapy. in very rare cases is it surgery. >> at the top i said these are states that are now
