zoraida? >> martin i know that we don't have any details about what they found in there but you did allude to earlier that there would be gruesome details. can you explain that? >> yeah, that's coming from a couple of sources. for one, i know a lot of officers, they've been hearing that, as well, and the initial sort of debriefs that have been taking place. but also from neighbors. it's the neighbors that are really troubled by this. because they say, look, we saw these warning signs. one neighbor in particular who says she saw one of the girls naked in the backyard being forced to get down on the ground and other indications that things were not right. the neighbors say that they notified authorities, that calls were made and the police did come out but apparently knocks on doors didn't get any answers so the police left. many feel that if the police had taken them seriously, these young women could have been rescued years earlier. zoraida? >> and really a lot of neighbors in that particular

we're going to zoraida michele knight, missing since 2002.the other women, a number of family members thought she was a runaway and he understand today she is not so eager to reunite with even her mother. zoraida soambolin in cleveland, spoke with members of her family. what did they say? >> you know, they said a lot, carol, what's really surprising, and you mentioned to me, surprising right off the bat, a lot of family members had no idea she was kidnapped. they thought she was living in another state with somebody else. they found out she was kidnapped by the reports she was rescued. that was really shocking. another thing, her brother, freddy, talked about the relationship they had with their mother. when he was just 14 years old, his mother kicked him out of house because he showed up late for a soccer game. mixed emotions about his mother coming back, trying to reunite with michele. freddy went to the hospital, spent time with his sister, talked to her, but doesn't have very positive feelings about his mother. his mother did appear on "t

our friend and colleague zoraida sambolin about to undergo a double mastectomy. first, thank you for sharing your story. >> i was trying to figure out, carol, how do i tell the viewers i'll be gone for a while, how do i talk about my breast cancer and double mastectomy, and we walked in, and this is a good entree. i was grateful for angelina jolie. >> doctors have detected cancer in one breast. why did you decide to have both breasts removed? >> it's a really long and complicated story. but the bottom line is that there is one area that was diagnosed on the left and when i had an mri, another area and then they found that my right breast also, you know, had some issues and they were uncertain exactly what it was. and they wanted to go in and do a bunch of biopsies and i've been through this a lot recently and i said, look, at the end of the day, i need to have peace of mind and sleep at night. i have two kids that are my world. like any woman, right? and it's what you think about. i thought for me this would be the best decision moving forward so that i could fee

zoraida sambolin here with more now this morning. >> fwood morning. seattle police say the demonstrators who marched last night did not have a permit. it followed an earlier may day demonstration in the city that was actually peaceful. for safety reasons, police officers gave the unauthorized demonstrators an escort as they headed downtown. but when the crowd turned violent and officers went in to make arrests things got really ugly. >> the crowd surged around several officers on foot. those officers felt that their safety was in danger so they deployed what we call a blast ball. that created some distance and we were able to then coordinate a response to the crowd. >> police also used flash bang grenades and pepper spray to disperse the crowd. 17 people were arrested for property destruction and assault. eight officers sustained injuries but those are mostly bumps and bruises. one female officer was hit in a knee with a large rock. these may day protests happen all over the world. it's been national holiday in countries. hundreds of thousands take to
