While the harmonica has been growing in stature as a serious instrument, particularly because of the exploits
of Jerry Murad’s Harmonicats, never has it flowered as it does today under the miracle of hi-fi.

The tiny harmonica is a hidden treasure of sound. Its tiny row of reeds conceals an amazing capacity for
variety in tone and color as they vibrate invisibly at the coaxing of a controlled breath of air. At the lips of a
virtuoso—and each of the Harmonicats surely is one—the harmonica is not only a complete, self-accompanying
unit, but put three of them of different ranges together and you have an orchestra in itself.

When the detail and subtlety of these tones are magnified and highlighted by the purity of high fidelity

recording, the Harmonicats are prepared to bring you superb musical excitement.
And they certainly do so here.

This Mercury Custom Hi Fidelity recording is the result of the most modern recording technique of our time. The masters
Sor this album were transferred through an Ampex 301 tape machine, a Pultec Filter and Equalizer, Altec limiting amplifier,
ne Leh er amplifier and a 150 watt power amplifier designed especially to drive the BBC Grampian Feedback
‘utting Head. :
a monaural dise can be played equally well with either a STEREO cartridge or a STANDARD 1 mil microgroove
cartridge.
Because of the fine technical equipment used in the recording of these masters, one is assured of the most faithful reproduc- :
tion in the transfer from original recording to the final masters used for processing. Printed in U.S.A,
