chad myers unless the weather center. chad, where's the bad weather and where's it heading next?ll in south dakota, nebraska, kansas, colorado. that's the worst of it. what's happening right now is that the sun is setting. even though the sun on these pictures, you can't see it, it's actually warming the ground a little bit. when that sun goes away and the roads are a little bit wet, that wet becomes ice. so that's the black ice we are going to see tonight in this area toward the west. it is slowing down. the storm is now cut off from the moisture source. we call this a low pressure system that is kind of just swirling around. i like to call it a ho ho. you get the idea. there's not any additional moisture getting into the storm so there won't than much additional snow. there will be ground blizzard conditions. we still had over a foot of snow in spots. now it's just blowing around, it's just going in all different directions. so even though some spots have picked up a foot of snow, as you saw, there was a three-foot drift, then you could see the driveway. that's how it's been go

cnn's chad myers joins us. merry christmas. >> merry christmas. good morning. things look pretty good for today. there's not that many in airplanes. only 9 the 4 have been canceled. even some are in phoenix which are likely not even weather related. the rain is what we're talking about here. driving today, getting to the next place in your location. new orleans had two inches of rainfall yesterday and in some spots around louisiana it is still raining. don't get me wrong, louisiana has been in a horrible drought. they will take two inches of rainy time they will let them. there are blizzard warnings across nebraska, south dakota, kansas. there will be a little ice to the west of minneapolis in those areas where you go to the lakes and do their ice fishing. it hasn't been nearly cold enough for that. there's your rainfall for the next couple of days. could be an inch or two. not so worried about air flow travel today. flying in and out of omaha, lincoln, sioux falls, all of those areas there. but it's the rainfall that's going to hit the east coast tuesday night
