now we did speak with some residents here in san mateo county. take a listen to what they had to say regarding this proposal. i don't think we should criminalize people at all because homeless people after all the while who needs helps. >> i do think because city needs to invest more in affordable housing to house said and give them a better conditions love. >> now and goes on to say that, yes, they would be providing some shelter for people and giving them 2 options. but he oftentimes sometimes those shelters are not always the safest place for them to go. now, county officials say the goal is to help end homelessness. adding that in 2022. federally required one-day homeless count did show over 1800 people were experiencing homelessness throughout the entire county. and 32% of them were on the streets or in tents back out live again. that vote is currently taking place. so we expect to hear at least somewhat of an update throughout today. as we get that information. we'll keep you updated live this morning redwood city of michael thomas is back
