remember when i told you weem wanted to take those federal programs and send them down to the state leveleed to make sure we go back to the basics. we've got to make sure our kids are learning reading, writing, history, science, math, art, and that's it. we don't neeral d to get thesebi federal programs. what happened is, when they started to get too big with cor federal, we have seen it from common core, we saw it was no child left behind.go they became bigger things that got away from the basics of education. when you send this down to the states, the resources the states have, they can decide where they need to go. vocafor example, i want to put vocational classes back in ourto high schools. we need to teach our kids how to be part of the economy before they get out of school. vocational classes in iowa would be very different than vocational classes in south carolina. let the states decide that.th when you go and look at these s othetar things that d.c. has decided ar te goodhe for our st, that's the problem. n what iwe want to make sure of, when we move this program soundd we make it

tell you how many times visiting my grandma in milwaukee it would be like we can get that at kohl's, weem go to kohl's. later when his beloved milwaukee bucks almost left wisconsin, it was herb who brought the team just so he could keep them there. i know that senator baldwin is proud of the bucks 2021 final win, and we all know it would never have been the milwaukee bucks without herb kohl. after working his way up from the bag boy to the basketball team owner, herb didn't have to seek public office, but he loved his state and its people too much to rest on his laurels. to him, running for office was not in any way a path to personal gain. it was a moral obligation. after winning election to the senate in 1988, herb got to work right away for the people of wisconsin. and as senator baldwin noted, he worked to expand the supply of affordable housing for elderly americans, crack down on corporate espionage, expand safe and affordable child care, secure critical medical training investments in the affordable care act, and how proud i know he was of senator baldwin, then-representative baldw
