here's a look at the santa cruz mountains. more isolated scattered showers, but look at the area of low pressure on the coast. dropping to 978 millibars. the strongest low pressure since 2010, in january. it's been that long since we've had a low this strong. it's got a lot of instability in the air as we go through the daytime hours tomorrow with heating and sunny breaks. might see a few of these pop-up showers turn into thunderstorms at times. notice by 8:00 in the morning, the morning commute still dodging a few showers. slight chance of isolated thunder as we head into tomorrow. but rain totals tomorrow, nowhere near what we had today. more scattered areas that could still see more than an inch of rain east of morgan hill and up toward the north bay. we may see higher totals there. watch that same area of low pressure. watch what it does late monday into tuesday. follow it tracking down the coast. it's going to keep the showers ongoing. mainly to the south tuesday, and into wednesday and after all it wind and rain we need

watch the wind as it funnels around the santa cruz mountains up through the santa clara valley.'s never really a wide open path for those low level winds to get a long runway, but in the central valley there is, almost 1,000 miles long, couple hundred miles wide at its widest and that does under these situations allow a strong southerly wind, which is what's happening today down at lower levels, at the same time as this very powerful storm is sitting off the coast. it's throwing very fast winds in the upper levels of the atmosphere at a total different direction. now you've got something in the atmosphere called wind shear where the atmosphere is getting kind of torn. to
