district attorney brooke jenkins says her office is waiting for more information before making any charging decisions. firefighters in san jose today rescued one person that was trapped in a fire at an abandoned home. crews were called to fourth street and saint john street not far from saint james park, at about 1140 this morning. firefighters say the fire spread to another nearby home and that both structures were destroyed. crews believe that homeless people were inside the abandoned home at the time of the fire. firefighters rescued one person who was not hurt. the two alarm fire was under control within about an hour. san francisco supervisors introducing new legislation today to ban toxic chemicals from firefighting gear . lawmakers and firefighters held a rally on the steps of city hall this afternoon. the first of its kind ordinance would ban the use of pfas forever. chemicals in firefighters, protective clothing. those chemicals are used to make gear that resists heat, water and other hazards. but they've also been increasing be linked to cancer and other serious health effects. th
