i want to start because everybody here whether they know it or not has issues before the fcc. why you assumed this role the role of the fcc and the role that you would play as a commissioner and what your priorities are, tell us what it's meant to you coming into this office? >> thank you again for having me and i want to point out that i've known you for almost 30 years that i've been and i'm just delighted to see how well you are doing. i would like to talk about my regulatory philosophy which i'm still finessing so i have a bit to go but overarching lay, i want to ensure competition drives vibrant innovation for the good of consumers. what that means is ensuring the users in the united states are connected to high-speed broadband and that it's affordable and means having beans havingspectrum for new ane services. ensuring public safety has the resources it needs to meet its mission and also that consumers have access to services that make them safe as well. on the media cited means protecting localism and making sure that we have diversity and competition in the media marke

it's something we have been preaching when i was at the fcc formally long time not only do we have to provide the ability to have the network need use the mic? okay thank you. to have but have to be able to afford it. this became apparent during covid, that of a not afford broadband. i mean, we've all heard the stories, right of teenagers and schoolchildren going to the parking lots of mcdonald's and taco bells at the library at night to get connected to wi-fi so they could get your education. this is why we saw congress start the emergency broadband benefit, which became the acp in the infrastructure more quote permanent program but not funded forever. we saw congress say we are going to appropriate dollars.ell you like the least distortionary way to pay for all of this is for the u.s. treasury to pay for it. this is a good thing that conquers was funding affordable connectivity program but obviously they need has been so significant as we've seen over 23 mill this program that now the funding is about to run out and we haven't even get and they were intended to work hand-in-hand. we
