we begin the hour with a donald trump story no one expected. a man with suction cups and climbing gear may knowing his way up the trump tower which also happens to be the trump home. this played out for about three hours with the elite severances unit, removing windows, cutting you this grill work. positioning themselves to take action. when the right moment came, it all happened very, very quickly. you can see the officers dragging him in very quickly. from there he was taken to bellevue hospital for psychiatric evaluation. donald trump was not home at the time. he was on the campaign trail the day after controversial remarks

about second amendment people stopping hillary clinton if she is elected president. speaking in sunrise, floored, donald trump had plenty to say about her as well as sharp words. headline making words, perhaps, for president obama. isis is honoring president obama. he is the founder of isis. okay? he founded isis. and i would say, the co-founder would be crooked hillary clinton. that was donald trump just moments ago. jim acosta is at the event. he joins us now. donald trump on the war path. no shrinking violet. he is tossing out the red meat of this crowd in sunrise,

florida. we heard donald trump address that controversy with the comments on the second amendment. he blasted the media in the way they've covered the story saying that coverage was disgusting. >> offering no apologies for a super heated rhetoric, donald trump tried to make the case that it is hillary clinton who can't get words right. she said it was a mistake. that she is going to raise taxes on the middle class. you saw that one? maybe she misspoke. we have to give them a break. >> one day after he said activists could do something if hillary clinton were elected, trump is pushing back on any notion of it. >> if she gets to pick -- if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. although the second amendment people, maybe there is, i don't

violence. >> that was hillary clinton today. jim acosta, as far as donald trump, as you said, feeding red meat to the crowd there. how did the crowd react? >> well, they seem to be enjoying every minute of it. they like this version of trump. a little earlier he was a bit more low energy to borrow one of his expressions. when donald trump was talking about the coverage of those second amendment comments, the crowd here and i have not heard the. was channelling, lock them up. er as in us, the media. you just called donald trump low energy. what do you expect? >> let's bring back the panel. donald trump called president

obama the founder of isis. >> well, by not leaving a force in iraq, invading libya, allowing to it grow to 40,000 strong. in that sense he is. i think in this case, this accusation is far more accurate. >> isis was al qaeda in iraq. before barack obama was president. at the action barr al baghdadi is the founder of iraq. the risk here is the way the whole rhetoric of this campaign is deteriorating. led by mr. trump. you're joking about it now when the crowd is chanting, lock them up. it is obvious he is putting on a

show. it is feeding something in him. we don't know. but it is crazy. where the rhetoric of this campaign, not where it is headed. it is where it already is. he suggested they could take arms into their own hands. if they didn't like the result. so it's clear what he said. >> it is not clear what he said. when this is a discussion about, you're a liar. it is only that insulting your possibly. you can't really have a discussion about the issues that are important. this is an election in which we'll decide the future direction of our country. and it is completely taken out of context. >> let's listen to what you just said. this is why the crowd yelled lock them up. when you say donald trump said, he suggested second amendment folks take arms up, he never

however, encouraging people to say lock up the media is very disturbing. and it is not the first time that he's used the media as part of his sounding board ask trying to demonize the media. this is the same person who said he wanted to loosen up libel laws so they can sue the media. that's a first amendment right. i'm sure someone with authoritarian tendencies would like. to address the the idea of me being a liberal. which is the fourth time you've fried tactic and i think it is hilarious and pathetic. if you have a resume like mine, you would know what a conservative was. and if you were a conservative, you wouldn't be supporting donald trump will as a liberal, that means you give money to someone like hillary clinton. pelosi moes, chuck schumer. liberals. that's what donald trump did. a liberal is someone who is pro-choice. supportive of donald trump. a liberal is someone who goes around and does things that donald trump has done his entire

again, i think al baghdadi may have something to say about it. the argument he's making is that president obama is weak on isis. so there's that. the level of the rhetoric here when statements like that are made. does it change the framework for the entire campaign? >> yes, absolutely. we just saw a great example of why what trump said was beyond what we normally see. he could have said, and he has in the past said that he thinks barack obama did a bad job on foreign policy. it is to trump's benefit to talk about foreign policy. he doesn't to have say barack obama was the founder of isis. he said it pretty clearly because the audience loved it. he kept saying it. and that's part of the challenge his campaign has. donald trump likes that reinforcement. he takes it to the hyperbolic

once again, both donald trump and hillary clinton face questions that go straight to their respective weak points. donald trump on temperament. hillary clinton on her honesty and the notion of fair or not that she plays by a different set of rules than the rest us. the latest chapter is the e-mails. allegations of big donors paying for jobs and access. the haste from joe johns. >> tonight, hillary clinton facing more controversy as newly released e-mails from her tenure as secretary of state, raised

questions about the clinton foundation. a nonprofit organization founded by the former president seeking favors from the state department. the e-mails obtained by the watch dog judicial watch included officials lobbying hillary clinton's state department aides and advisers to higher their associates. the clinton campaign responded that the e-mails are irrelevant, saying neither of these e-mails involved the sector relate to the foundation's work. the e-mails once again raising questions about clinton's decision making and trustworthiness while clinton continues to stumble over the issue on the campaign trail. i may have short-circuited. for that i will try to clarify. >> the issues, citing them as evidence that clinton is corrupt. >> this is big stuff. pay for play. it is illegal. illegal. we'll see what happens with it. it is very serious stuff.

>> controversy comes amid poll numbers that shows clinton beating trump nationally, 50 to 44%. and clinton ahead of trump in key battle ground states. besting him in ohio and pennsylvania. the two locked in a virtual tie in florida. clinton is also on top in blue collar wisconsin. 46% to 36%. vying for another battle ground state. >> you can build it in america. and i am determined that we'll build more and we'll be able to create more businesses and more jobs by doing so. >> clinton continues to add bipartisan support to her campaign, add go to the growing list of republican endorsements, long time ambassador and former director of national intelligence john negroponte and carlos gutierrez, the latest to throw their support behind

clinton. >> joe, what is the clinton campaign saying today about the e-mail story? >> well, these e-mails raise a couple of questions. one about former clinton staffer, trying to get a job. also about a billionaire toner trying on get access to an ambassador. there was no access or at least there was no meeting. the clinton campaign is pushing back on the notion that there was something illegal going on here. perhaps a quid proceed quo. they're also pushing back. they put out a statement calling it a right wing organization that has been attacking the organization since the 1990s, accusing them of mischaracterizing the documents and saying, the fact remains that hillary clinton never took action as secretary of state because of donations to the clinton foundation. so this is an issue that may continue to dog her.

the e-mail issue has troubled her throughout the primaries and it looks like this is one more development in that long running story. >> all right. joe johns. donald trump wasted no time pouncing on the release of these e-mails and raised questions that the relationship between clinton foundation and the state department. joining me now, the former adviser for presidents david gergen and gloria borger. donald trump says this is a pay to may between clinton foundation and the state department. you have called it a blind spot for how the clintons do business. what do you mean? >> well, i think that they, you know, they keep pledging to do things in a very ethical way. hillary clinton pledged back in 2009 there would be no overslap between the foundation, the clinton foundation and the state department while she was secretary. there would be walls. and they never built those

walls. so if there is pay for play, they didn't get much play out of it. these are common practices in all of politics that people do favors for each other. that's the way the system works. especially for donors. even so, having pledged to do that. you would have thought they would have an ethics officer set up. everybody would know the guidelines and they wouldn't find themselves seven years later in this controversy as she is running for president. >> for you this gets to the issue that many people believe the clintons have rules and then there are rules that everyone else has to abide by. >> right. 60% of the american public don't trust her because they believe after decades in the public eye, that the clintons do have a different set of rules. in this case you have the fbi director declining to prosecute,

i might add, over her e-mails but saying she was extremely careless and then you have hillary defending herself that she never passed on classified information. now you have this batch. while it is saying that hillary clinton never took any action to benefit donors of the clinton foundation, you do have these e-mails which suggest that somebody was trying to do that. will this make that number even lower? could it go lower? >> sure. it could go lower.

>> the good part for her is that voters don't trust trump either. >> yeah. i think she is lucky that that e-mail story broke in the middle of this controversy. >> all of this points out why the american public doesn't leak either of these candidates particularly. >> i agree with that. is the drip, drip, drip that seems to plague her campaign. gloria borger, thank you so much. a growing list of republicans from the elders of the party, the congress members and foreign policy experts. they're abandoning the trump

resigned ten years ago dogged by allegations that he sent sexually explicit e-mails to teenage boys who were working at congressional pages. sitting behind donald trump tonight. now back with our panel. with the "washington post," i don't even know where to begin. what to make of this. donald trump in his speech was talking about people sitting behind him at rallies. and i was reading an article behind with quotes from mark foley about why he was excited to be at that event. an odd picture to have him behind donald trump. >> one would think that donald trump would either fully vet the people behind him for the next 48 hours or so, or not draw attention to it. there is clearly a distinction between father of a terrorist and murdered exnumber of people and a guy under disgrace a while ago. but donald trump likes to make his points. he likes to have the people angry about hillary clinton. he likes to rif off the cuff.

donald trump does everything. he is the campaign coordinator. the press secretary, the fund-raiser. apparentlily, he is the advance person, too, picking people behind him. this is just another exam many of, don't cast stones if you live in a glass house. so you know, it is kind of silly because there is no comparison. but donald trump needs to stop trying on point fingers other places where he clearly makes the same mistakes as well. >> it is important to point out that my colleagues on the left, had omar mateen's father behind him who was pro taliban who gave cover to al qaeda and who is anti-gay. this is who hillary clinton had three rows behind him. and he said he was invited. you can choose to believe that hillary clinton's team who said he was not invited or you can believe him that says he was invited. we know 64% of people don't trust hillary clinton. but it is unfathomable that he had a person who is was pro taliban.

does this not get to the idea that maybe these campaigns are not as tightly run as we thought they might be? >> well, yes, it certainly does. i think the mateen things a huge screw up. i think this is a much lesser screw up. it was mostly a screw-up but we should not come fair two campaigns. hillary clinton is running a campaign. donald trump is not running a campaign. it is weird to say that because he is a candidate. he is out there on the trail. but he is not running any tv ads. he is not on the ground anywhere. there are volunteers who do it because he is not out there doing it. >> you've been sitting here ally quiet. >> i would not have invited either one of these people to my rally. >> i don't know that either one was invited. we were talking about what the orlando shooter's father was

as you might have seen, it was pretty hard to turn away. for about three hours today, a man using suction cups scaled trump tower before the nypd pulled him in through a window

on the 21st floor. this guy was climbing for several hours before police finally pulled him in. what's the latest? >> a pretty dramatic rescue. thousands of people were on the ground surrounding trump tower, looking at it. oohing and aahing it. we know this man is 20 years old from virginia. according to police, he came here from virginia last night. he spent three hours going vertical and horizontal, eraising police who were trying to tell him to get inside. and he kept saying that he was going to go all the way to the top. so it was a very dramatic scene unfolded before everybody's eyes. luckily it all ended safely. that man under bellevue hospital under evaluation. >> he posted a youtube video yesterday. what did he say? >> he told police about this youtube video as he was continuing his ascent.

and he said basically, it is a message to mr. trump. a very gothic message. he said he was an independent researcher. that he had a message for mr. trump and he wanted to speak to him and he said this was the only way that he would get mr. trump's attention. if he went about it a conventional way, nobody would listen. that was his purpose. it was sort of rambling. it didn't say what the message was but he did hope he has donald trump's attention to deliver whatever that message may be. certainly an interesting way to go about it. >> at this moment, he is in bellevue hospital receiving psychiatric attention. and authorities will decide whether to press charges. of course, this is not the first time someone has looked at a super tall building and said, hey, i need to chime that thing. >> look at this view. the video taken that i a daring chimer in 2012. the man filmed himself as he
