we've got to come together as a country. we've got to come together as human beings. we've got to come together as one. >> host: thank you. have any legislator come out and also support of what the president has proposed principles wise and was looking to to gain support or at least rally support? >> guest: there are members of congress particularly in the house who fully support the entire list of things the president has put out. i have checked but i'm sure that the chairman of the house judiciary committee is in favor of these proposals. the question is can he can yout traction, looking to past? there is a group in the house that paul ryan is tasked with putting together a bill. i don't think about it every single single thing in the seven-page document. they will pick and choose like they're taking from the menu. the same goes for efforts in the city.

has support in the past week the presidents priories also include a southern border wall like with a democrat who voted for in the 2006 secure fences act because in a radical proposals pick many have gotten bipartisan support in the past. the trump administration is ready to work with congress to achieve these policy objectives and to ensure safe unlawful admissions come defend the safety and security of our country protect american workers and taxpayers. today the first lady flew to west virginia to visit the lees plays, the nation's first nonprofit recovery center also provides service to parents and families dealing with addiction. lilies how streets in france for neonatal abstinence syndrome which occurs when the big withdraw some drugs he or she was exposed to in the womb before birth. according to the government accountability office, an american baby is born with nas at 825 minutes and 40% of% of babies born addicted to opioids go into the foster system. each situation is a tragedy and

the first lady is doing incredible work to raise awareness about this important issue. looking ahead to tomorrow the present will continue his push to provide tax relief to hard-working americans. he will be traveling to harrisburg, pennsylvania, to deliver remarks in attendance at the event will be hundreds of truckers. to keep our economy moving literally and they're excited about the president's tax reform plan which will create more jobs and a power workers and families to keep more of their hard-earned money. before i take your questions i'd like to offer an invitation to all of the white house press corps, on behalf of the president and first lady and the administration, to bring your children to the eisenhower executive office building on october 27 to celebrate halloween where there will be lots of fun and i'm sure lots of candy so we can sugar your kids up and send them back home to you. and with that i'll take your questions. >> over the weekend the
11:19 am
president said that he wished to secretary of state was a little tougher, and now today he is suggesting secretary tillerson has a lower iq than he does. so my question is, , why would e president what somebody who thinks -- not particularly smart as a secretary of state? >> the president certainly never implied the secretary of state was not incredibly intelligent. he made a joke, nothing more than that. he has full confidence, full confidence in the secretary of state. they had a great visit earlier today and they're working hand in hand to the president's agenda forward. matthew. >> over the weekend senator corker call the white house -- the president to lead the country into world war iii and said quote he considers me. he would have to get anyone who cares about our nation. what can you tell us about the interaction to the senior republican making commerce like that and is a concern of the top republicans to make?
11:20 am
>> senator corker is entitled to his own opinion, but he's not entitled to his own facts. the fact is this president has been an incredibly strong leader on foreign-policy and national security, and he's been a leader on this front. and i think that's been seen and demonstrated time and time again since he took office. a few examples come over 20 nations have significantly reduce economic and diplomatic ties with north korea. further isolating them. he's got in china and russia to sign on to the toughest u.n. sanctions against north korea ever. his new strategy is destroying isis. we have tremendous battlefield gains throughout iraq in syria with europe he got more nato allies to pay their fair share and you strengthening that alliance. we are also exporting energy like coal and natural gas to eastern europe. his vision of rentable realism is creating calm around the world in defeating our enemies. again, senator corker may have an opinion but the facts certainly don't lie. the president has has been very successful in this front.
11:21 am
>> going into the weekend president said his principles for the dreamers legislation on capitol hill and clear and it was a provision for building the wall. the president had earlier said he would do the wall at a a lar time, do the dreamers first and put security measures and into the wall later. did he change the goalposts? >> no. the the president is simply stag his priorities for what a responsible immigration reform should look like, and that includes those three-day priorities. that's what he's promised congress to atlantic that's exactly what he did. i don't think we've been inconsistent on the front and certainly not unclear. the president has talked about his priorities repeatedly, and in this case over the weekend laid them out in a very detailed fashion. >> has he insisted the wall be any part of any traveler legislation? >> i'm not going to stand up and negotiate from the podium with you guys do something for the president and congress to work
11:22 am
out but we are laying out our priority. that's exactly what we put in the document and we will work with congress to try to get the most responsible immigration reform package that we can. >> speaking of goalposts -- >> that's three questions already. >> a follow-up question. >> good thing he's a a reporter and not a math teacher. >> i was horrible in math. -- [inaudible] sent a letter to chief executive all the nfl team saying like many of her fans we believe everyone should stand for the national anthem. it's an important moment of her again. we won't want to honor our flag in the country and our fans expect that of a stick d7 meeting next week to discuss this. even the position as a league by the commissioner, what's the white house reaction to what it looks like the nfl is going to do? >> i think we would certainly support the nfl coming out and asking players to stand, just as the president has done. we support the national anthem, the flag and the men and women who fought to defend it.
11:23 am
and our position hasn't changed on that front. we are glad to see the nfl taking positive steps in that direction. >> i had to but i realized -- the first is i want to ask about tax reform. you suggested there be adjustments to strengthen -- [inaudible] adjustment for change. i'm wondering if there are going to be changes to the framework, and if so if that might be things like modifying the state or local deductions or changing the pastor interest rates we've heard floating out there. >> with a heavy adjustments to this time. i think our key principles, we've laid out remained the same and no changes to announce today. >> two of the president allies of suggested senator corker reciter does a president think senator corker should be let?
11:24 am
>> i think that's a decision for senator corker and the people of tennessee, not for us to decide. >> a follow-up on the senator corker question are the president said senator corker was larger responsible for the iran gold which the present has hinted he wants to renegotiate. that was a deal that was negotiated by barack obama is administration. why does the president think that that was largely bob corker salt? >> senator corker worked with nancy pelosi and the obama administration to pave the way for that legislation basically rolled out the red carpet for the iran deal. those are pretty factual. john. >> over the last few months the president has criticized a number of senior republicans, sometimes in very personal terms. senator murkowski, senator flake, leader mcconnell. most recently senator bob corker. what do you say to critics who say that the president is alienating himself from
11:25 am
republicans that he will need to move his legislation forward? >> i don't the use and need in one. i alienated themselves by not actually getting the job done that the people of this country elected them to do. they all promise and campaign on repealing and replacing obamacare. they haven't done that. they campaign a tax reform. probably we see that happen. we are committed didn't think we'll get there a time atomic and congress has made promises and failed to deliver. it was being alienated its people that a promising things and not delivering on them. >> one were on speech i'm going to skip around so i can get more people in. >> you talk last week about the plan on iran and we often know the present feelings. what a not clear on sicu connection. how is a certified iran nuclear deal lead to an opportunity to go ship on all of these other issues that you have with iran like exporting terrorism and cyber crimes, et cetera?
11:26 am
>> i'm not going to get ahead of the president announcement but he will make that later this week, and we will be happy to take more of those questions after that announcement is made. >> the president referred to bob corker can. i'm wondering if the white house continue to work or contingent plan to work with cynical christine -- gives oversight to the iran a court that you've always said you don't like the are you working with them to change about law an oyster widget. >> was we are certainly which were with him but he wants to, put forth a real solution of the part of the solutions and not part of the problem. >> facility on iran? >> again will be happy to work with all parties on bettering the american people, and if he wants to be part of that we certainly would be happy to talk about it. charlie. >> former secretary of state hillary clinton said, condemning the behavior of one of her
11:27 am
hollywood donors hard-won civic the president said he wasn't surprised by the news and said he had known harvey weinstein for some time. my question is, does the president have reaction to clinton's statement? secondly, does he have his own reaction on how much did you know about harvey weinstein is behavior? what's his response today? >> i don't know if you seen the secretary clinton's statement comes i haven't had a chance to talk to him about that so i would want to weigh in on what his reaction might be on that front. >> what about his response, he said he has done for a long time? >> i think that speaks for itself. there's nothing to add. olivia. >> has the present reached the decision on whether to recertify iran or not? >> the present reached a decision on an overall iran strategy and wants to make sure that we have a broad policy to do with that, not just one part of it. as i said last week, to deal
11:28 am
with all of the problems of iran being a bad actor to god that i write anything to add today at that point. >> would you like to talk still way with a 90 day recurring certification? >> i will let the president speak to that link this week. >> what does the president attended with his executive order on health care reform? secondly, the president when he was resending daca said when the resisting that was because it was inappropriate for the obama administration to do with executive order what couldn't get that with legislation to why the typically comes to healthcare? >> look am i think the american people have demanded something happened. they have elected a number of different people to congress to deal specifically with this issue. you can see it reflected in the number people that campaign on that and went on to win officer and due to congress to act it's no surprise the president is going to try to take action to provide flexibility and relief to the many americans who
11:29 am
continue to suffer under obamacare. that's a positive step forward and one more detail. >> what exactly is he going to do? what is he going to try to do, we've got some jim crowism present but not a lot of specifics about what he can do with executive orders and why it might be effective when it comes to lowering costs? promises were pretty high we heard -- >> again, to take action as much as we can to help provide the flexibility and that really, that's what the president is going to do. he's going to make an announcement on that later this week and we will see that i agn by the end of friday. john. >> thank you. two questions. the president said senator corker asked to be secretary of state when they met privately before he took office. that is almost historically unknown that someone would actually ask for a cabinet position in the meeting with the
11:30 am
president, at least in the 21st and 20th centuries. does he stand by that statement completely? that the senator asked to be named to the position of secretary secretary of state. >> i have talked to him specifically about that but i would imagine the the present wholeheartedly stand by statement on that. .. he would seek independence from spain through negotiations. >> our position hasn't changed but we would certainly welcome the present conversations between us and them and moving forward but there is no
11:31 am
different from what the president said when he was here a couple weeks ago next to you are welcome to talk with catalonia -- >> i think that is up for the people of spain in catalonia but our position is still consistent with what the president said a couple weeks ago back at a couple of questions. do you stand by your statement that bob corker rolled out the red carpet for the run deal. >> i do, i just made it about ten minutes ago that he originally opposed the iran deal and led an effort on capitol hill to have it reviewed by congress and former president obama not wanting that to take place and how can you say that he rolled out the red carpet for the deal that he worked with them on that legislation that rolled that out. that is what helps put things in motion and he may have voted against the deal ultimately but he not only allowed the deal to happen but give it credibility. i stand by districts pick one follow-up. does the present repeated display in the oval office today
11:32 am
give the highest tax nation in the world, why does the present keep saying this and it is not true overall spectrum are the highest tax corporate tax in the developed economy and that is a fact. >> that is not as it said that is what he is talking about. with the highest corporate tax country in the developed economies across the globe that is accurate but he would keep repeating the claim -- that we are the highest tax corporation. but he said are the highest technician. >> the highest tax corporate nation seems consistently. will have to agree to disagree. >> president talks about the economic and you see that as a way to [inaudible] back we certainly want to move tax reform through and i think the president's position, american companies have been forced to
11:33 am
send their operations in more apparently a lot of their jobs overseas due to decades of increased taxes and overregulation. in addition to historic tax and regulatory reform the president is looking at additional ways to bring jobs in profit back to our shores. >> sarah, the congress is putting together [inaudible] does the president want these talks to continue or does he want the partial measures that the united states is proposing to end the talks. >> the president wants to continue the conversation but the president ultimate goal is to make sure that we get the best deal for americans as possible and certainly for american workers. he has been clear that he thanks the current structure is not a good one and was a better deal. we'll keep moving forward. we'll see how these conversations go and that is where we are in the process back in [inaudible] will have a readout as we always do about
11:34 am
meetings. i will get have is up. >> do you think these ongoing fights with kids on capitol hill helped the president agenda, tax reform first and foremost? >> the president is very committed to getting tax form done and he's calling on congress to get there .-ellipsis they are non- another vacation right now and we would all be a lot better off if they would stop taking vacations and start staying here until we get real things accomplished but the president is here and is committed to working with them to do that. >> the senate is working today but how specifically those belittling the chairman of the foreign relations committee help with tax form because the president -- >> hopefully, senator corker who has been someone who has been consistently talked about being a fiscal was presented with possible cut that he would certainly for those back to the
11:35 am
president agree -- >> tie up loose ends, you said that the nfl is getting massive tax breaks and he called on congress to change tax law. what specific changes the calling for the nfl claims no longer seeing tax exempt status. while the nfl may have given up its tax-exempt status a few years ago it has been well-documented that billions of taxpayer dollars continue to subsidize the construction and renovation of professional sport stadiums. in this industry and they are using money from american taxpayers to build the very field they play on is it really too much to ask that they show respect for the american flag at the beginning of the game. >> is it appropriate for the vice president of the united states to send taxpayer money to go to the ballgame or he will walk out and players take any knowing that they would be taking an action that it is appropriate for the vice president was invited and he attended that game. it is always appropriate for the leaders of our country to stand up for the national anthem, to stand up for our flag and to
11:36 am
stand up for the men and women who fought and died for it >> [inaudible] accident said there would be adjustments made to the tax bill being worked on and you just said that adjustments might not be made if the framework stands as it is so i am curious -- the final piece of legislation but he asked me specifically if our priorities for change, priorities remain the same but the final piece of legislation hasn't been finalized. this is the time of negotiation but the principles and priorities that we have laid out are not up for negotiation. >> this is specifically talking about the negotiation point versus state ticket items that may or may not be redlines sorry i didn't hear the first part talking about basic negotiations and about top end, top number that have been laid out. >> he laid out his and those have not changed, that remark is still the same. >> [inaudible]
11:37 am
>> there is still some positions that he is working to fill and a lot of individuals that are in the queue and going through the process, the vetting process is very lengthy. certainly we want to fill some of the open position but not all of them. the president came to washington to drain the swamp and get rid of a lot of duplication and make government more efficient and if we can have one person do a job instead of six, then we certainly want to do that is a taxpayer dollars. >> sorry -- >> [inaudible] >> i'm sorry -- i believe he was there to president an award and i don't know all the details.
11:38 am
i'd encourage you to contact the vice president's office. i my understanding is that he was asked to president an award a few weeks ago. >> [inaudible] is the president telling the truth about this account to smart. >> yes. >> when you were talking about states and local governments and is the president sporting federalization takeback power out of the hands of states and government? no, he is making the point that if these individuals are going to be supported in a large part by subsidized by taxpayers that a large percentage and majority of americans have said they want nfl players to stand that he is drying that connection between the two. >> i am saying the federal tax law doesn't apply here but certainly we know they receive
11:39 am
tax subsidies on a variety of different levels. >> regarding the american. [inaudible conversations] >> again, he wasn't questioning the secretary states intelligence he made a joke, maybe you guys should get a sense of humor and try it sometime but he simply made a joke, he's been extremely clear time and again despite the fact that you guys continue to bring this up and create a story he has one 100% confidence in the secretary of state, he said it multiple times over the last couple of weeks and we are trying to move forward and focus on the agenda while you guys want to move forward and talk about who likes to. >> i'm going to go to amos,
11:40 am
tight time you're the president. >> [inaudible] can you tell us more about the president's plan and immigration tax form and a whole bunch of other things. >> as i said a few minutes ago, in addition to the historic tax cuts and regulatory reform the president in looking at different ways that we can bring jobs and profits back to our shores and that is all i have on that front at this point. also, the president is getting ready to have an event here shortly so we will end. but will be here the rest of the day to ask your questions. thank you. >> president earlier today meeting with secretary of state former secretary of state, henry kissinger in the oval office. they talked about a number of things and before that meeting the president spoke to the
