[applause]
1:14 pm
mr. kaine: my wife and i are so proud of hillary clinton. clinton,d of hillary because she has been and is a great history maker in everything she has done, as a civil rights lawyer and first lady of arkansas and first lady of this country and senator and secretary of state, she has made history. she became the first major party
1:15 pm
nominee as a woman to be president and last night, won the popular vote of america. that is an amazing accomplishment. it is an amazing accomplishment. i am proud of hillary clinton because she has held fast to dreams. age,as inspired at a young an epiphany that if families and children did well, that is the best barometer for whether society does well and in everything she has done, she is focused on that. we know she would have made history as president in one sense, but we have never had a
1:16 pm
president whose entire family -- entire career was made about the empowerment of children and families. i was excited to have her there and make history as the first women -- first woman president. i am proud of her because she has made such a wonderful team. there is a beautiful and comical parable in the new testament about a vineyard owners who hires people to work and says i will pay you this for a full day, then he hires people at noon and says i will pay you the same thing for a half day and those who started earlier the day say hold on, we don't like that you are treating everybody who came late just as well as us. here is what i have come to know so well about hillary clinton. the team that she has assembled over the years are people that are so deeply loyal to her because she is so loyal to them,
1:17 pm
it is inspiring. i have seen that same degree of loyalty and compassion and sensitivity extended to the most recent folks who joined the team , the folks you came to the vineyard with just one hour to go. for loyalty and compassion to people, if they are with you, they are with you and that is remarkable. i am proud of her because she loves this country. nobody had to wonder about hillary clinton, whether she would accept an outcome of an election and our democracy, nobody had to ask. nobody had to doubt. she knows our country for what it is. she knows the system that we have. she is deeply in love with it and she accepts it.
1:18 pm
she has been in bottles before where if it did not go her way, she accepted it and woke up the next day and that old the dreams she has held fast to. i want to thank hillary clinton for asking us to join this wild ride. about a week before, she asked if i would be her running mate. i went up to westchester and sat down with hillary and bill for about three hours of conversation to try to determine whether the wood -- whether we would be the right people to be on the ticket. when we got in the car back to the airport, i said to my wife, i don't know if we will be on this ticket, but we will remember that three hours for the rest of our life. we will remember 15 days that we have had with this fantastic couple of public servants for the rest of our life. hillary and i know the wisdom
1:19 pm
and words of william faulkner. he said they killed us, but they have not whooped us, yet. because we know, we know that the work remains. that the dreams of empowering families and children remain and in that work, that important work that we have to do as a nation, it is so comforting even at a tough time, to know that hillary clinton is somebody, until her very last breath, is going to be battling for the values that make this nation great. now, please join me in welcoming secretary hillary clinton. [cheering and applause]
1:21 pm
a very rowdy group. you. here, and ir being love you all. last night, i congratulated donald trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. i hope that he will be a successful president for all americans. this is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for, and i am sorry that we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country, but i feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built, together, this fast, diverse, creative, unruly, energized campaign.
1:22 pm
you represent the best of america and being your candidate has been one of the greatest honors of my life. i know how disappointed you feel, because i feel it, too. millions off americans who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort. this is painful, and it will be for a long time, but i want you to remember this. our campaign was never about one , iton or even one election was about the country we love, and about building america that is hopeful, inclusive and bighearted. we have seen that our nation is more deeply divided then we thought. thought, but i
1:23 pm
believe in america and i always will. if you do, we have to accept the results and look to the future. bowel trump will be our president. we owe him an open mind and the chance to lead. our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power, and we don't just respect that, we cherish it. it also enshrines other things. the rule of law, the principle that we are all equal in rights and dignity, freedom of worship and expression, we respect and cherish these values, and we must defend them.
1:24 pm
let me add, our constitutional democracy demands our participation, not just every four years, but all the time. let's do all we can to keep advancing the causes and values we all hold dear. making our economy work for everyone, protecting our country and protecting our planet, and breaking down all the barriers that hold any american back from achieving their dreams. halfent a year and a bringing together millions of people from every corner of our country, to say with one voice that we believe that the american dream is big enough for everyone, for people of all races and religions, for men and women, for immigrants, for lgbt people and people with disabilities, for everyone.
1:25 pm
now, our responsibility as citizens is to keep doing our better, build that stronger, fairer america we seek. i know you will. i am so grateful to stand with all of you. i want to thank tim kaine and and holton -- and ann holton for being with me on this journey. been a joy getting to know them better and it gives me great hope and comfort to know that tim will remain on the front lines of our democracy, representing virginia in the senate.
1:26 pm
to barack and michelle obama, our country owes you an enormous debt of gratitude. [applause] we thank you for your graceful, determined leadership that has meant so much to so many americans and people across the world. , mark, and chelsea charlotte, aden, our brothers and our entire family, my love for you means more than i can ever express.
1:27 pm
you crisscrossed this country on our behalf and lifted me up when i needed it most, even four month old aden who traveled with his mom. i will always be grateful to the creative, talented, dedicated men and women at our headquarters in brooklyn and across our country. you poured your hearts into this campaign. for some of you who are veterans, it was a campaign after you had done other campaigns. for some of you, it was your first campaign. i want each of you to know that you were the best campaign anybody could have ever expected or wanted.
1:28 pm
to the millions of volunteers, community leaders, activists and union organizers who knocked on doors, talked to neighbors and posted on facebook, even in sites, private facebook i want everyone coming out from behind that and making sure your voices are heard, going forward. to everyone who sent in contributions as small as five dollars and kept us going, thank you, thank you from all of us. to the young people in particular, i hope you will hear this. spent my entire adult life fighting for what i believe in.
1:29 pm
i have had successes and i have had setbacks, sometimes really painful ones. many of you are at the beginning of your professional public and political careers. you will have successes and setbacks, too. pleasess hurts, but never stop believing that fighting for what is right is worth it. [applause] it is worth it. we need you to keep up these

fights now and for the rest of your lives. and to all the women, and especially the young women, who put their faith in this campaign and in me, i want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion. [applause] ms. clinton: now -- i know, i know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling. but someday, someone will, and hopefully sooner than we might think right now. [applause]
1:31 pm
ms. clinton: and to all the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams. [applause] ms. clinton: finally -- [applause] ms. clinton: finally, i am so grateful for our country and for all it has given to me. i count my blessings every single day that i am an american. and i still believe as deeply as i ever have that if we stand together and work together with respect for our differences, strengthening our convictions, and love for this nation, our best days are still ahead of us. [applause]
1:32 pm
ms. clinton: because, you know, i believe we are stronger together. and we will go forward together. [applause] ms. clinton: and you should never ever regret fighting for that. you know, scripture tells us, let us not grow weary in doing good for in due season, we shall reap if we do not lose heart. so my friends, let us have faith in each other. let us not grow weary. let us not lose heart. for there are more seasons to come and there is more work to do. i am incredibly honored and grateful to have had this chance to represent all of you in this consequential election. may god bless you and may god bless the united states of

peace, the fight against terrorism, the situation in the middle east, economic situations , and preserving the planet. on all of these topics, i will very soon start discussions with , which. administration will come into office on the 20th of january. i will do it with sincerity and openness because the position expressed by mr. donald trump must be confronted with the interest that we share with the u.s., and our common history will help us engage in that discussion. france will also continue on the way of transatlantic cooperation , without concessions, and in

understand the concern felt by many people -- all the peoples of the world, including the american people come in the face of the current world situation. we need to find the answers. us in ours are within develop our social model of anti-democracy. more than ever, this election should lead us to take our responsibilities more than ever before as france, and because the eu is the framework within which we worked, france will be doing that with the rest of europe. thank you for your attention.

p.m. turnbull: on behalf of the us to, i offer my congratulations to donald trump on his historic victory, and offer might best wishes to secretary hillary clinton, who has fought a long and hard-fought campaign. let me say that i understand that australians have been confronted with the intensity of the political battle in the united states. president-elect trump himself described it as being at times and nasty campaign, and it was certainly by our standards are very bitterone -- a one. but you see already the way he has reached out to bring americans together come and the americans do fight the political contests hard. this great nation of the united states has the capacity to come together, and it will, behind the leaders, behind the

president that they have chosen. now we have no stronger relationship, whether it is on the battlefield or in commerce, then we have with the united states. they are great and powerful nation, they are great and powerful friend. and our relationship with united states is built on millions of australians and americans who have been working together, fighting together, serving together, for over a century. we have stood together in so many conflicts side-by-side. americans understand that they have no stronger ally, no better friend, then australia. in the enduring national interests of our 2 countries is such that our relationship will continue to be strong. we will continue to work
1:48 pm
together, as we have done, with many presidents in years past, to take on the challenges of our time. whether it is the challenges of global terrorism, whether it is the challenges of ensuring that we maintain the stability of our economic order, whether it is the challenge of ensuring that we maintain the stability in our region, which is underpinned by the strength of the united states, which has been the foundation of the rules-based order in our part of the world that has seen the most extraordinary transformation in living standards in human history. so i have great confidence that all of our engagement will continue to be strong and intimate, filled with the trust and confidence that is characterized it for so many years. now, the obama administration will continue until january 20.
1:49 pm
i want to acknowledge the great leadership of president obama, vice president biden, and the holy administration has given during their term in office. president obama has guided the united states and let the world -- led the world through many challenges, challenges of the global financial crisis, dealing with the challenges of terrorism, dealing with the challenges of -- we face in the middle east, where our servicemen and women are fighting side-by-side with their american comrades. so this is an historic moment. it has been a long campaign. it is one that australians have , withsed with awe consternation, indeed, from time to time. but let me reassure all us australians all that the ties that bind australia and the united states
1:50 pm
are profound, they are strong, they are based on our enduring national interests. politicians and governments, congressman, senators, prime ministers, and cabinets will come and go according to the will of the people of australia and the united states. bond between our two nations come out here, interests, our shared national interest, are so strong, are so committed, that we will continue to work with our friends in the united states through the top administration, just as we have through the obama administration, just as we always will. we have so much in common. shared values, democracy, the rule of law, maintaining the international order upon which our security and prosperity depends.
1:51 pm
the american people have made a great and momentous choice today. we congratulate president-elect trump, and we look forward to working closely as ever with his administration as it is formed and when he takes office early next year. thank you very much. ladies and gentlemen, a few hours ago presidential elections have finished in the united states of america. thisve been following campaign with attention. and i would like to congratulate the american people with the end of the electoral cycle. and i would also like to congratulate mr. donald trump with his victory in these

elections. we have heard his electoral slogans when he was still a candidate of the presidency. spoke about restoring relations between russia and the united states. we understand that the way to that will be difficult, taking into account the current state of degradation of relations between the u.s. and russia. and as i have repeatedly said, that is not our fault that the russian-american relations are in that poor state.
1:53 pm
russia is ready and wants to restore the full-fledged relations with the united states. i repeat, we understand that this will be a difficult way, but we are ready to play our part in it. and do everything to return the russian-american relations to the stable and sustainable development track. serve the well-being of both russian and american people. and have a positive effect on the general climate for global
