the major indices are following where the market is going to become more apparent. we have a few more months of this. >> nicole: gary, this is nicole. we are hearing from china, they try to at least make a more free-market environment, they did put money in, right, to save the shanghai at least for now. when you talk about the tone that you are giving us, news flash, we all saw the fed raise rates for the first time in decade, what goes with that? i agree with you that manufacturing numbers i didn't do were somewhat weak, but what do we expect for 2016, the fed was supposed to be raising rates? >> gary: unfortunately i don't have good to say about the fed. marks are heading south and commodities are crashing, it tells me think really do not know what they're doing and i think this is part of the

process. look, it's very simple when it comes to markets, it is about fear and greed and greed is going away and fear is picking up so selling pix up and there are some reasons behind it, earning gross for the market is down and so is sales growth. nobody believes the numbers that are coming out of it and time and time again they continue to manipulate, i think confidence gets lost and feeds on itself. >> lauren: where do you park your money for 2016? >> gary: cash is a pretty good word right now. the great news. >> lauren: gary kaltbaum,

>> gary: happy new year to you. well, i think last time we all chatted i was not bullish on the market. regardless of yesterday i'm still not bullish on the market. i just think there's a lot of problems out there, i mean, even apart -- let's just take the economy out of it which i think is horrible, what filters into people is that we have a world kind of at war, they pick up the newspaper and they see, oh, my gosh, they are occupying federal land in oregon, we are fighting isis everywhere, iran and saudi arabia are not talking with one another, we have obama and congress fighting over gun laws, i mean, you close the front page and you go, i'm just going to go back to bed. >> nicole: you can add isis in there. you're right on target. there are so many headlines and we have had headline and

yesterday we saw a big knee jerk reaction. does this trend continue. every single sector sells off yesterday, are you going to tell me that all stocks are undesirable for 2016, there's got to be some bright spots, gary? >> gary: there's always some bright spots. you know, i like the stocks that i use every day. the fang stocks. facebook, amazon, netflix, et cetera, et cetera, and but here is a problem with those, i love, for example, amazon, i use it almost every day to order something or another, it's expensive, same way with facebook. those stocks should be good, those are expensive, the oil company stocks t problem with those is there's no demand for oil. everything is affected by interest rates, financials.

presidential candidate bernie sanders is expecting to announce plans to reform wall street, break up the largest financial institutions within the first year of administration. sanders will vow to create a too-big to fail list and he will say that the companies on that list would pose a great risk for the u.s. economy without a taxpayer bailout if they fail. his plan will force the banks and insurance companies to reorganize within a year. >> lauren: starting overnight in asia mostly down arrows, in europe that stocks also down, ftse down 5 points, cac down 24 and dax 77. >> nicole: let's check out u.s. stock market futures. the trend down to the downside. 112 points, s&p almost 14, nasdaq futures about 3 quarters of 1%.

smith&wesson with earnings for the year, strong demand at gun shows. the stock popped after hours of trading. kuwait becoming the latest country to side with saudi arabia. it's calling embassador to iran. it's unclear whether kuwait will cut full diplomatic ties. checking the markets this morning after yesterday's selloff this morning. we are expecting more selling this morning. look at that. u.s. stock market futures down across the board. dow futures 123 points, s&p futures down 15. checking on the overseas action where we, again, saw big selling yesterday over in europe, the major averages had been moving between gains and losses. right now they are down. the ftse in london just barely at the -- at the flat line, cac in france and dax in germany down.
