san antonio. rapid city a little cooler 77 for the high temperature. northeast talking high temperatures into the upper 70s and lower 80s for some of us from new england down into parts of new york city and the dc area. something to keep in mind we are going to have two frontal systems pushing the eastern sea board that could actually produce severe weather from boston down into new york city, dc all of the way down into south carolina. widespread area here that could be seeing some strong storms that could produce large hail damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes. now we have a strong cold front from canada that will produce another area of severe weather from wisconsin through eastern parts of nebraska and south dakota. this area is going to see a dramatic drop in temperatures. we are talking about temperatures that could drop more than 10 degrees and are more typical of the fall weather. we are starting to see a transition coming up soon. >> just a transition. not quite fall yet.

camp. it means the next two weeks before the convention the fate of the florida vote will be decided. if the democrats succeed in spreading this clear and plain false hood that the ryan plan will affect seniors today they will carry florida. if they do not succeed in thrilling in that false hood and i think again unleashing ryan will do that then i think it could easily go to romney. he has to initially put more pressure on florida for romney. on the other hand, what ryan brings to the ticket is a midwest appeal and we saw in the last couple weeks the midwestern states the ones romney needs to win, ohio leading all of the way up to wisconsin which he doesn't have to win but now in play those were difficulting away from romney. and ryan's regional effect is going to be the strongest.

a negative. that's not what parents want for their kids. don't forget we are all over it. fox news will have you covered as we head toward the political convention complete convention coverage begins sunday august 26th. an illinois judge will rule today on a mistrial request from drew peterson. he's the former police sergeant charged with murdering his third wife kathleen savio. if the judge signs with the defense peterson could walk free. good morning ainsley. what caused the defense to ask for this mistrial? >> it is the third mistrial request since the trial began weeks ago. each time they have accused the prosecution of tainting the jury by bringing up evidence that has been banned. this time the blunder came from state prosecutor kathy patton. she asked the witness about a froeks order savio took out against peterson. the problem with that the judge

had already warned the prosecutors two hours earlier not to mention that order claiming it would create an unfair bias against peterson. patton did apologize profusely but the judge seemed unmoved even frustrated. he could declare mistrial with prejudice which means peterson could be off the hook barring any appeals soor he could instrt jurors to disregard the comment and resume testimony. this case has been particularly difficult because savio was found dead of an apparent drowning with no physical evidence to suggest foul play. in fact peterson wasn't even charged with her murder until his 4th wife went missing three years later. prosecutors are relying heavily on evidence from other people who claim savio told them she was deathly afraid of peterson. that type of hearsay evidence is not usually allowed in court. prosecutors describe it as giving voice to a victim from

pension of 100,000 dollars or more. that's about 1.2 percent federal retirees compared to 0.4 percent of military retirees that get that much. pensions range from doctors to human resources with law enforcement being the most common. congress by the way congress members were not included in this. pensions are a growing burden. they lost 70 billion last year plus 13 billion for retiree healthcare. they have doubled the inflation rate in the past year and taxpayers are on the hook for $2 trillion. the percentage of people receiving 6 figures are so small they are highly skilled in office put risk on the public. the federal pension pays almost 33,000 dollars compared to 22,000 from the military and a little more than 18,000 from exxon mobil which has one of the best private pensions out there. the government needs to be more
