spent several years in the area. >> how is the kathmandu valley responding to this loss what looks like to be 2,200 lives now? >> clearly, people knew that the capital was vulnerable. 1934 an earthquake wiped out the city. people knew and always prepared there during my time there, we dealt with these sorts of issues. back in 1996 cyclone hit, bangladesh was involved. the embassy was involved in rescuing hundreds of people. no one knows nepal better than peter bodey. there are thousands of americans there. there are two trekking seasons. one trekking season goes from middle of march to middle of may. the other one is in october and november. you'll have the largest number of tourists in the country and there are surely americans not

only in the capital but also in two other regions, cluth one by everest. this is going to be a lengthy rescue efforts. >> give us some perspective on the base camp at mount everest. how hard is it to get there for rescuers? >> we've flown helicopters in there and rescued people. there was an american team there. there was a book that was written called "into thin air" a story about a people trapped on a mountain. there are so many people at base camp there are going to be hundreds of there. they can walk down from there to 15,000 feet below. it's a couple hour walk out. >> i imagine they are in fear too that it might happen again. there are reports that all of a

sudden they felt the ground shaking and they went outside of their tent and seeing this huge sheet of ice coming toward them and oh, no what do they do now. >> there are 26 japanese that died at another place just below there, but the region between kathmandu and the pokaro is just as easily heavily trekked. there are thousands, if out there, and and there's another area that happened to be the center of the maoist revolt in that area. that is probably a place that had more difficulty but we're not hearing about it. there's very little communications in that region.

>> we appreciate your perspective. baltimore, overnight violence exploded in the treat. thousands protesters were protesting the death of freddie gray. he died of a spinal injury after being arrested by police. last night, that protest turned violent. >> it got pretty nasty. one protester stole a police hat and stood on top of a car. you see multiple people standing on top of cars. police are coming out in riot gear trying to figure out what to do. all of this happened near camden beyond a reasonable doubt and the -- yard and the stadium there was asking the 36,000 fans inside as the baltimore orioles were playing the boston rs -- red sex to stay -- red sox to stay inside. can you imagine? >> this has occurred apparently as the result of freddie gray 25 who died on april 19th.

he died of three broken vertebrae in his neck and a crushed windpipe. as a result six police officers have been suspended with pay. the department of justice is investigating and by may 1, the baltimore authorities say they are going to issue a report as to what happened in the transport of freddie gray who apparently ran after seeing the police and then allegedly was arrested with a switchblade knife. he went into a coma an our or two after he had been picked up and transported by the police and now as a result we see this rioting in baltimore yesterday. >> we're hearing from witnesses last night. people were having dinner outside camden yard the ballpark in downtown baltimore, when protesters game a mob, and smashed windows, and looted convenience stores. nobody intervened as they stood on police cars smashed the

windows, trying to flip them over. the question is why? we saw this in ferguson too. the police standing back and allowing this stuff to happen. >> it's absolutely unacceptable and what you've seen now is 36,000 people virtually being held hostage to the activities out in the street and you see that scene there, where are the police? >> yeah we will hear later from freddie gray's sister who is saying this violence does not need to happen. she's calling for peace. we'll continue following this story as the morning rolls along. right now, we need to get to other stories making headlines. one person is dead and four sailors missing after sail boats cap-size off the coast of alabama. nearly 200 people were participating in a regatta. the coast guard is searching for more survivors. heightened security in l.a.x.

wrong. he was giving a normal brief on suicide prevention at the army ranger camp up in my district and after the fact someone up the chain of command decided that using scripture or talking about his faith was not something he should be doing. really everything we looked at and me being as a chaplain in the united states air force reserve, he did not do anything out of bounds. the army would not remove the letter of concern from his file. >> when you look at morale issues that are going on in the military right now, in fact, the washington times has cited that troop morale has gone down 30%. do you think that's because of policy changes or just an environment and a culture that some of these military members feel like they can't even express how they feel about things and their faith?

>> well, i think right now what we're dealing with is people who claim to be tolerant are actually are intolerant. chaplains are there for everyone whether they have faith or no faith and the chaplaineds need to be operate within their own background and right now they seem to be under attack. >> what's the danger of this? when you can't pray in a trying time what's the danger? >> we're in an environment where our military needs to be at the top of readiness, it means not only physical well-being but also mental and spiritual well-being. that's why it's important that chap lanes be able to fulfill that role. good chaplains can work with people of faith and no faith. what's happening right now you have a minority group that basically wants to say that this should not be a part of the

good morning, everyone. hospitals running out of critical antibiotics. the plob is on the rise. a disturbing new report claim hospitals across the country ran short of 148 antibiotics from 2001 to 2013. theage time without a drug was close to nine months. >> how concerned should we be? let's ask the host of fox news channel house call dr. david tsumati. good morning. this is really a frightening story for a lot of americans. especially one story which says in 2010 that 20% of patients have been adversely affected by the results of these shortages. to vanco my son, people may have heard of that.

why is there a shortage and what can we do in american hospitals to make this better? >> it's obviously a big concern in all the hospitals for doctors and then patients. i think the statistics thaw mentioned. there are 148 antibiotics that you mentioned in this. we can deal with this. the last five years has been really bad. the statistic that you just mentioned, 20% time it had a adverse outcome on the patient. part of the problem is the super bugs are getting smarter than us because we overused antibiotics over the years. you've got mrsas these are getting resistant to our antibiotics and some of it is our fault. we're not making good antibiotics. there's not enough money in this business. the profit margin for these antibiotics and companies are not doing so well.

we haven't had great ones coming in the pipeline. it takes 2 to 3 billion dollars to make one of these antibiotics. when they come the companies are not going to profit for this. furthermore, the government is pumping more money to hopefully in the next few years we'll have a better outcome. you mentioned there are some things that we can do as patients as well. for example, not going to the hospital not only does it clog lines if you are going for something that's not a serious ailment but you can also pick up something and get a serious illness while you are there. >> that's an excellent point because c.difficile is one of those infections. you get these at the hospital. don't go there if you have some cough or sneezing. you go to the hospital for serious stuff. 29,000 people died from c.difficile. try to ask for a private room if

you can. hand wash. ask your doctor should i get this antibiotic. >> when people go to a hospital they expect that there's communication between the doctors, the nurses and the pharmacy and the people that are making these medicines and we saw in the survey there's no communication going on. so if i have pneumonia, if i have c.difficile as you are talking about, if i have some essential infection and the doctor says to me there's no antibiotic first-line antibiotic to treat this because the drug companies aren't making a profit what are we doing in this country to make that better? >> that's a very important point and it's a huge concern and your point is well-taken. we need to do a better job. we need to make sure there's better communication between the hospitals and pharmacies and manufacturer. sometimes, the manufacturer only makes one antibiotic and they can run out quickly. we need to beef it up and invest more in our antibiotics and protect the patients. the message to i allot of

on top of a car. all of this was going on as the orioles were playing the red sox. 37,000 people were urged to stay inside because of the violence outside. >> they were held oxing as protesters resorted to looting, property destruction, turning over of cars and eventually the police got it under control. as you know freddie gray was killed under circumstances that are being investigated by the baltimore authorities and the department of justice. he died of three fractured vertebrae in the neck and a crushed windpipe. they are trying to get to the bomb of what happened to him. six police officers have been suspended with pay. at the same time freddie gray's sister is asking for people in baltimore to keep the peace. >> freddie would not want that.

animal here in just a second. when we do different things we want to want to show special characteristics. we have a bird here that's a bird that you would see traveling through south america in the grass land mainly eating insects but when they come up to oh maybe a reptile like a snake or a lizard they'll hunt that as well. here he is. right here. this is just a plastic little alligator but he'll pick it and make sure t ready to eat and that's exactly what they do in the wild. an amazing bird you can see walking around the grassland and really they can fly but they spend most of their time on the ground hunting, looking for things. it's just amazing how fast they can run as well. unbelievable animal that you would find here at the animal encounter village at the columbus zoo and aquarium.

>> good morning, much of nepal's capital city kathmandu is reduced to rubble. that death toll at 2,200 people but the number will increase as the after shocks continue and they try to find more bodies but increasingly they're recovering bodies. on saturday a massive 7.9 earthquake shook the entire region around noon local time. panicked residents rushed to the street as the earth shook furiously. the initial earthquake was felt from india to china. the total destruction is just beginning to be realized. nepal is a poor country and many of the buildings are crudely built so the infrastructure has been devastated by these. bridges and roads have been destroyed. at least 17 people part of teams trying to climb mount everest were killed making it one of the deadly yesterdays on the legendary peak.

>> with immigration numbers expected to grow what does this mean for the future of the american worker? let's ask host of sunday morning futures, maria. what does that mean? >> it's a tough story for american workers. the fact is that immigration is at the root of so much economic development and in some cases lack of in terms of jobs. so as the immigration numbers have increased, here's the numbers. since 1970 the foreign born population of the u.s. is up 325% and at that same the same time frame wages are down sharply in the double digits and the amount of money that the 90% bottom in term of income earners has declined sharply. >> exactly. that's the point. the top 10% benefitted. everyone in my neighborhood is a beneficiary of increased low skilled innovation. most lose. >> most people lose and the issue is i think everybody agrees that this has been an

immigrant country and that we are diversified and want to see immigrants in this country but when you start looking at the impact that it has on american workers you recognize these issues in terms of the path to getting there and keeping the boarders open are difficult and it does impact workers on the wage side the skill side and the opportunity to work. >> what about the argument that these are jobs that americans don't want? that these immigrant workers legal or illegal are taking jobs. >> it's hard to say these are jobs that americans don't want when you look at young people and the unemployment rate of young people today above 20%. young people want a job. so yes, at some point you want to see jobs that are high paying that require skills. those jobs going to americans but at the end of the day it's a job and when you first get ouftt of school you don't have skills and you just need a job. >> exactly. today you have quite a show put together and this is
