wasn't my favorite that donald trump has done. there were strong points definitely. i thought when he talked about standing by our ally israel, i was in the crowd, he got huge applause. when he talked about how the iran deal would go down in history as one of the worst negotiated deals, as one who worked in national security, i think that was a strong point for him. when he talked about how the system is rigged, how he can fix it, how he was going to fight for individual people, that's the kind of stuff that i think independent voters and disaffected democrats wanted to hear. what i felt was missing was there's a lot of talk of immigration but there wasn't any talk of some of the positive impacts of legal immigration like his wife, people like rubio and cruz's parents coming to america. i would have preferred to hear something a bit more positive instead of just the dauer stance on immigration. of course my favorite of the

night, the star of the show was his daughter. i think that she delivered a message to millennial women that spoke to me. she talked about -- she was warm, she was open. she talked about women needing to get equal pay and needing advancement opportunities, especially when they're having children. i was really happy to hear that message in primetime. i think that was important. >> that was something that i think a lot of republicans and even republicans, democrats wanted to hear from the convention. kudos to ivanka for speaking out about that. >> what stood out most to you? >> it was a big speech, a huge speech. there's a lot to unpack in it. we'll be doing it for days. i thought he achieved some very important milestones, one of which was that he certainly gave a conservative speech by any standard, but probably more importantly, it's one of the things he's been doing over the course of this campaign, this was a political speech. in saying that, he spoke to a very broad audience. he spoke to african-americans.

he spoke to women. he spoke to the lgbt community. this was an important step to get to in this process. it was an effective step. he also saved his dowerness and his criticism for contrast rather than just direct attack and he backed up the negative aspects of what's going on in our country with fact and that was important, too. but over the course of this week paul maafort and the rnc team, reince priebus and others have built a very effective case along with the trump children that this man, their father and this politician now is someone who will fight for you, who is -- could be a father of america just like he's been a great father to them. he's results driven. brings out the best around them. brings out the best in people around him and i think that that's something that he took into the speech last night. i will fight for you. he said hillary clinton wants

you to chant i'm with her. i want to chant, i'm with you. >> kathy, one of the other things that he also specifically mentioned, one of those bernie sanders followers trying to pull them over, morgan, any predictions for the dnc and what we can expect? of course, bernie sanders will be there. >> well, bernie sanders is going to be there, elizabeth warren is going to be there. i think we can anticipate that the dnc is going to take a hard left turn outside of the mainstream media. it's been reported we may figure out who hillary clinton's vp is going to be today. tim kaine has been wildly criticized by leftist activists that he's being too soft on banks because he signed a letter saying he wanted to ease some restrictions. so there's nothing the democratic party won't go after as it relates to banks, anybody making a profit or having a business in this country.

explain that. >> so the republicans gave it an a, independents a b and democrats a c. here's the thing, what ivanka was able to do and bring to the table, she was able to be an advocate for what donald trump did for women. i think it turned things on its head. she was incredibly well spoken. the way she explained how people are supported rather than turned away. the statistics are really powerful, competency compelling, and i do think it's important to look at the democrats. while i was only a c that is something we haven't seen in a while. democrats the whole night it didn't go that well. i think that's really, really saying a lot. >> i thought that was one of the negative. it was just a c. as you point out -- >> i don't know how talking about women equality you can get anything but a. kudos to ivanka trump. >> trump got to a lot of things. the main theme was we cannot afford to be politically correct.

>> we cannot afford to be so politically correct anymore. so if you want to hear the corporate spin, the carefully crafted lies, and the media myths, the democrats are holding their convention next week. go there. >> so some mixed results on this one. >> there were. republicans, again, gave this an a, independents a b. moments where democrats gave it a c, sometimes a little bit less. what's important is that idea of political correctness that donald trump has tapped into is something that donald trump has tapped into. know want to be able to say what's on their mind. so i think he's tapped into something here. >> trump says that he is the law and order candidate. >> has he said that? >> once or twice. here's one of those instances.

>> i have a message to every last person threatening the peace for our streets and the safety of our police. when i take the oath of office next year i will restore law and order to our country. believe me. believe me. i will work with and appoint the best and brightest prosecutors and law enforcement officials to get the job properly done. in this race for the white house, i am the law and order candidate. >> obviously this is a huge issue of late and republicans off the chart, leigh. >> off the charts. this was an a plus moment for donald trump on the republican side. he had to have a plus moments

with the republican party. this is about bringing republicans together. independents really responded well to the thinking but it's important, a lot of the stories and take aways i've heard in other media was this wasn't a fear-mongering speech. what voters told me was this was not a fear-mongering speech. in fact, he was reassuring people because people already are afraid. he was saying, i'm going to make america safe again. it was something that resonated with them. it was scary and -- >> not fear-mongering when he is talking about things that are happening. >> he wanted to make it clear he was protecting all-americans, including the lgbtq community. listen to this part. >> as your president i will do everything in my power to protect our lgbtq citizens from

the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology. believe me. and i have to say as a republican it is so nice to hear you cheering for what i just said. thank you. >> surprisingly not everyone loved that moment. >> not everybody liked that moment. some people were taken off guard. republicans gave it a b plus, independents a c plus and democrats a d. i was surprised by the democrats there. i thought this was something they would have responded to. i think there's some level of cynicism. what i heard from folks is it could be donald trump is redefining a position for the republican party and it resonated with folks once i thought about it. it is a big step for the republican nominee to come out with that message. >> could be huge for the next generation for sure. >> lee carter, thank you very

people's nominee and then when donald trump was speaking he said that, you know, he is there for those people who are forgotten, the forgotten men and women. gina, what do you think about his speech? >> i thought it was excellent. i think it's so good that he pointed out how he really is, you know, while hillary clinton's message is always going to be all about victimization and identity politics and the whole poor me thing, donald trump spelled out tonight that his -- his message to the american people is that he is for me. he wants us all to be as rich as he is. that's a great message especially when you contrast it with the democrats continued and tired old message of we're going to spend more money when we've already doubled the debt, right, to $19 trillion. we're going to do all the same tired policies that haven't worked in the past, haven't brought anybody out of poverty, haven't improved our educational status and haven't really helped anybody. there's no accomplishment

hillary can talk about and say that she's actually done. you have donald trump who has created so many jobs and wants to do the same thing for our country. >> lauren, i've heard from a lot of people who say i like what donald trump has to say, i just don't know how he's going to get there. i'm waiting for specifics from him? did he give you those specifics. >> there were a bunch of points that we talked about. we spent unprecedented resources on law and order since 9/11. trillions of dollars pumped into the system. it's hard to understand what else are we proposing. of course, the presidency doesn't control the police and state and local municipalities. i think certainly i'd like to understand more about his economic proposals which are still pretty vague. certainly i appreciate that he called out support for the lgbtq community.

he chose mike pence as his running mate. big convention speeches are short on details and long on vision. that was what he was there to do. the next few months he's going to have to explain these things. i think for undecided voters if with no one else. >> i think if he doesn't want to win over undecideds, i think that's going to be a hard road for him to climb. >> yeah. >> i met a lot of bernie supporters at the convention this week. a lot of former bernie supporters were here today all happy supporting donald trump. so i think he is resonating with independent voters. let's not forget -- and let's not forget that he got more primary voters than any other candidate in history and way

more than the democrats had this time around. i think that this will end up well for him. >> primary demographics are not the same as general election demographics. that's why i think it's -- the demographics of the country have skewed the demographics in the states. he has to win more than his fair share. he has to win independents and he has a big job to do there. >> that's definitely true. not just share numbers, republicans and delegates share. and by the way, millennials, the challenge is going to be, a shout out to millennial voters who are undecided, they understand that's critical. the challenges are that millennials are the worst in history and are rmt inclusive.

booker can be the attack dog like chris christie has been. something about those new jersey boys. none of the disastrous rollout has been happening. they've been very good at keeping it quiet and find being the right person. i think she's looking for a person that she will have a very good relationship with and she can trust. >> speaking of attack dogs, she already has one of those in elizabeth warren. so she has mentioned that one of the things that she's looking at when it comes to picking her vice presidential candidate, that would be foreign policy. so which of those names do you think would be best in that area. >> i think senator kaine has the highest marks when it comes to foreign policy and the work that he's done in the senate, but secretary vilsack has traveled to many countries since he

became secretary of agriculture. i think it was maybe one of the weaker areas for him when he ran for president a few months in 2008, but he really has spent time traveling internationally and was on a sunday talk show within the last week, really showing up that he could talk foreign policy. so, again, this bench is deep, it is qualified, it is focused. the campaign has been very, very, you know, disciplined with the selection process. >> yeah. this also comes after mike pence was chosen governor of indiana. jehmu green, thank you, we will know soon. >> thank you, jehmu. >> let's check in with ainsley earhardt. from what i understand you will talk about the infamous focus group. >> hey, abby.
