(vo) love. it's what makes a subaru, a subaru. welcome back to the campus of washington university in st. louis, missouri. we are less than 24 hours out from the second presidential debate. this one, even more crucial for the struggling trump campaign following that potentially disastrous audio leak that has a growing number of republicans calling for trump to quit the race. i'm shannon breham. this is a special edition of "fox report." trump spent his day saturday in full-on damage control trying to recover from the release of an 11-year-old audio recording in which he makes vulgar comments about women. here's a portion. >> you know, i'm automatically attracted to beautiful -- i just start kissing them.

it's like a magnet. and i don't even wait. and when you're a star, they let you do it. you can do anything. >> whatever you want. >> grab 'em by the [ bleep ]. you can do anything. >> trump turned to twitter to address his critics and supporters, blasting out this. the media and establishment want me out of the race so badly, i will never -- all caps -- drop out of the race, will never let down my supporters. hillary clinton's dealing with her own fallout heading into the debate after wikileaks dumped another round of damning documents last night. we have team coverage tonight, exactly one month away from election day. jennifer griffin is here in st. louis, but we begin with chief political correspondent, carl cameron in new york city. hi, carl. >> hi, shannon. the last the 24 hours have been the most tumultuous of donald trump's entire presidential campaign. those tapes have caused republicans across the country to denounce him, some saying that he should let mike pence be on the ticket. and so the next 24 hours are

likely to be just as tumultuous with tomorrow night and the debate in st. louis against hillary clinton, where questions about this entire episode are sure to come up. donald trump says he will never withdraw from the race. and amid gop demands that he quit told "the washington post," quote, they're not going to make me quit and they can't make me quit. he told "the wall street journal" there's, quote, zero chance i'll quit and the support i'm getting is unbelievable. house speaker paul ryan disinvited trump to wisconsin's fallfest today after hearing the 11-year-old tape of trump's profanity-laced boasting that his fame allowed him to grope women without consent or warning. running mate mike pence, who said he and his wife found trump's remarks horrifying, was scheduled at the last minute to go in trump's place today, but he canceled this morning, too. ryan said he was, quote, sickened by trump's vulgar and demeaning description of trump's sexual conquests. trump's aides believe the clinton campaign found and released the tape as part of their opposition research. >> when you're a star, they let you do it. you can do anything. >> whatever you want. >> grab 'em by the [ bleep ].

you know, i'm automatically attracted to beautiful women. i just start kissing them, like a magnet. i don't even wait. >> reporter: trump aides believe the clinton campaign has more bombs to drop. the only republican woman in this year's gop presidential primaries, carly fiorina, issued a statement saying, quote, donald trump does not represent me or my party. the republican national committee chairman, reince priebus, said, quote, no woman should ever be described in these terms or talked about in this manner, ever. even in florida, struggling in the aftermath of hurricane matthew, the republican governor had to deal with trump's lewd statements. >> i don't know why anybody would say things like that. i think it's absolutely wrong. >> reporter: u.s. senator john thune, a member of the republican leadership on capitol hill tweeted, quote, donald trump should withdraw and mike pence should be our nominee, effective immediately. conservative republican senator ben sasse of nebraska, a former christian college president, made his pitch for pence to take over. quote, character matters. @realdonaldtrump is obviously not going to win, but he can still make an honorable move.

step aside and let mike pence try. but nationwide, ballots with trump's name have already been printed and forcing him outside would be virtually impossible. pence has made no comments about replacing trump and pence insiders say trump remains on the ticket. he issued a statement saying, i do not condone his remarks and cannot defend them. i'm grateful he's expressed remorse and apologized to the american people. with a critically town hall style debate tomorrow in st. louis, trump tried to put out the firestorm first with a brief statement apologizing if anyone was offended, and then released a video overnight as outrage spread. >> anyone who knows me knows these words don't reflect who i am. i said it, i was wrong, and i apologize. i've said some foolish things, but there is a big difference between the words and actions of other people. bill clinton has actually abused women and hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims. >> reporter: former rivals chimed in aggressively. florida senator marco rubio,

who's endorsed trump, tweeted, quote, donald's comments were vulgar, egregious, and impossible to justify. no one should ever talk about any woman in those terms, even in private. and trump's democratic rivals are also pouncing. >> any republican who has said they are for donald trump, they need to be asked by the press and others and by constituents right now, do you still think he's qualified to be president of the united states? do you still think he is? >> reporter: the trump campaign believes that hillary clinton's campaign is behind the leak of this video, and they suspect that there will be more. in the meantime, the republican party has made the decision to halt a number of direct mail message pieces that were going to be out across the country, saying that they're going to have to slow down and see what happens. there's a report tonight in the "wall street journal" that the republican party in its victory fund, a joint fund between the rnc and donald trump, will begin spending money only on down-ballot candidates, meaning

house and senate members. sean spicer, the senior adviser and strategist for the republican national committee, says that is absolutely not true. what is true is that tomorrow night's debate has the potential to be tremendously consequential. and if trump is contrite and manages somehow to begin to put this episode behind him, he can continue on and potentially be competitive throughout. but republicans across the country think that if he doesn't do well tomorrow night, a lot of really tough decisions might have to be made next week. shannon? >> millions, watching. carl, we thank you very much. he is traveling with the trump campaign. thanks, carl. well, hillary clinton spending today off the campaign trail, but a very busy saturday nonetheless between debate prep and seizing on donald trump's latest controversy, the clinton camp had its own spinning to do following another wikileaks e-mail dump. jennifer griffin has the story right here in st. louis.

well, we have a special piece that jennifer has put together for us, and i think we are working on that. we'd love to roll it, but, listen, we have plenty to talk about in the meantime. until they figure that out, we've got a very rowdy crowd here, by the way of students. they're having a great type. >> these are the millennials that the campaign has been talking so much about. >> yeah, and i think we have your package now. and then we'll chat once viewers get a look at this. >> okay. >> reporter: the clinton campaign is not saying whether or not the new e-mails released by wikileaks are authentic. they are quoting members of the intelligence community, who say that it is possible that whoever hacked into the e-mails could have altered some of them to make them more damaging, calling it a sophisticated russian disinformation campaign. it should concern every american that russia is willing to engage in such hostile acts in order to help donald trump become president of the united states. the e-mails released late yesterday include thousands of campaign e-mails apparently sent

by chairman john podesta, that reveal the inner workings of the clinton campaign and contain potentially damaging excerpts from clinton's wall street speeches. one excerpt from a speech given to goldman sachs in 2014 has the header, "clinton admits she is out of touch." quote, obviously, i'm kind of far removed because the life i've lived and the economic, you know, fortunes that my husband and i now enjoy, but i haven't forgotten it. the speech excerpts also delve into her support for a single-payer health care system, like the one in canada. she also expressed praise for trade deals and open borders. clinton's spokesman, glen kaplan said in a statement, quote, earlier today, the u.s. government removed any reasonable doubt that the kremlin has weaponized wikileaks to meddle in our election and benefit donald trump's candidacy. donald trump tried to use the leaked e-mails to divert attention from his hot mike moment. quote, hillary clinton's secret wall street speeches prove what we have known all along, that

clinton is a self-serving washington insider, who has continued to deceive the american people for 30 years. clinton's spokesman, brian fallon, criticized the media for playing into the hands of russians by publishing the e-mails. quote, striking how quickly concerns about russia's masterminding of illegal hacks gave way to digging through fruits of hack. just like russia wanted. another comment she made about the transpacific partnership trade deal. my dream is a hemispheric common mark with open trade and open borders, sometime in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it, powering growth and opportunity for every person in the hemisphere. clinton told a brazilian bank in 2013, she added, we have to resist protectionism, other kind of barriers to market access. rnc chairman reince priebus issued a statement. quote, the truth that has been exposed here is that the persona hillary clinton has adopted for her campaign a complete and utter fraud. how can bernie sanders and many

like-minded democrats continue to support her candidacy in light of these revelations? the clinton campaign was expecting an october surprise. they just thought it would be coming from julian assange and from the russians, perhaps. they did not however, has besha expect this kind of gift on the eve of the debate. >> what's, t been the reaction far? >> they've been absolutely mum since this happened. you've had tim kaine, her running mate in nevada yesterday. he did make a statement. he said, it sickened him. and he called on republicans to distance themselves from trump. but the clinton campaign and clinton herself have been absolutely silent. and that is by design, we're told, by a senior aide to clinton. in fact, they have told their surrogates not to go out there. they don't want to get in the way of this narrative. they feel, let this play out for the next 24 hours, until the debate, and we'll hear from hillary clinton herself, at the

debate. so all eyes really will be on the debate, and they want that moment, because they know how many people will be watching and the anticipation they figure, another news cycle, where people would be talking about donald trump's hot mike moment. >> how is she preparing for this debate? any differently than last -- >> well, hillary clinton likes to prepare, as we know. she usually spends four full days in advance of a debate. and we were told today that she spent a full eight hours at the hotel, where she's been prepping in new york, from noon, and she left at about 8:00 tonight. this is a little bit different, because it's a town hall format. but certainly, they are going over every possible answer. they expect that they'll get some tough questions themselves, and remember, during that commander in chief fuorum, she did have some questions about some questions about her e-mails. but i would say that they are gleeful right now at the

least ten deaths in three different states. florida and georgia now cleaning up as the carolinas cope with devastating flooding. they've already had trouble with this in recent weeks. steve harrigan is live in north carolina to give us an update. >> reporter: shannon, the backside of this storm is leave wrg i am in wilmington, north carolina, but with it, some heavy gusts of wind, at times more than 80 miles an hour. and kicking up some 15-foot waves. the death toll across four states now has reached 11 and three of those here in north carolina as we see some transformers blow out behind me. the death toll here in north carolina has come from people out on the road. we've still seen a number of people out, despite warnings. one of those deaths from a car hydroplaning on water on the road, the others came from submerged vehicles. we saw more than 40 water rescues today here in the state of north carolina. in fayetteville, one woman with a young child was rescued by first responders from about 5 feet of water. both mother and child now doing

well. what's next here after this wind will finally die down, could be several days of flooding. the storm has dumped 15 inches of rain on coastal north carolina, so we could see rivers swell beyond their banks over the next day or two. also, officials are warning about the integrity of roads, including some major roads, could be compromised, adding to the severe damage, which is already estimated to total more than $6 billion. shannon, back to you. >> all right, steve harrigan live for us on the scene there in north carolina. so where is the storm heading next. rick reichmuth has the very latest from the fox news severe weather center right now. >> it's hard to believe how long we've been talking about mathew, started as a wave across the atlantic, in across the caribbean, became a category 5 storm north of colombia, causing the damage and the death toll in haiti, and finally made landfall in the u.s. across parts of south carolina, getting ready to move off the shore, but before

it does, we have a long ways to go. very significant amount of rain that is going to continue to fall. it will pull offshore eventually, but that is not going to happen until about tomorrow afternoon. so because of that, we still have a very long night ahead of us, especially into south carolina. rainfall rates are going up, even though the storm is weakening, at least in its wind intensity. we've seen rainfall totals around a foot in savannah, but you see even higher than that across parts of south carolina and north carolina. and a lot more rain to be had. because of that, all the flooding concerns going on, flash flooding going on across a good part of the state of north carolina, stretching in towards virginia, as well. and i think we're going to see the rain continue to fall in across parts of the delmarva, push a lot of surge even in towards that area as well as part of the outer banks. the storm is off the shore of south carolina, but we're watching it kind of interact with a cold front that is going to push it out of here eventually, but what happens in the meantime is that wrings a lot of that moisture out. you'll notice it's gone by

midday tomorrow, still breezy conditions, but at least the rain is over. that doesn't mean the flooding will be gone, because all this rain has to go somewhere. the smaller streams will lead into some of the bigger rivers in north carolina and cause major flooding. and we still have a lot of rain to be had. take a look at this. we're going to see some spots. there's kind of a feeder band that is lining up here across the outer banks. and as that band licennes up, a we're pretty confident this being in the scope of it, a lot of areas in the 6 so 10 inch range of additional rainfall. some spots more than that. so the flooding throughout the overnight hours and the start of the day on sunday is going to be extreme, especially across parts of inland north carolina. shannon? >> all right. thank you very much, rick. right now, a manhunt underway in california after a deadly attack on police officers. will karr is live from our west coast newsroom with the very latest. will, what tell us about what happened? >> well, shannon, authorities tell us tonight they are actively looking for a cop

killer in palm springs. they say they do have a home surrounded by it right now, but they admit they're not even sure that the gunman is inside of that home. this all started this afternoon when they received a domestic disturbance call. officers went to a house about five minutes north of the heart of downtown palm springs and went to the door and that's when they say the man ended up unloading on these officers. this is very close to the police headquarters there, so officers swarmed the scene and that house where the shooting took place, and it turned into some type of s.w.a.t. standoff that continues to go on. witnesses tell us that they witnessed emts in the streets trying to save the officers. all three were rushed to a local hospital, where the two, one man and one woman, were pronounced dead. >> i am awake in a nightmare right now. that's me. but you know what, as the chief of police in this police department, i've got to step forward and stay focused and

i've got some very qualified managers here that will take a bunch of aspects of this investigation and we will press forward. >> members of law enforcement say they're still not 100% sure that the gunman is actually inside of the home right now. they're asking for residents in palm springs to stay inside of their homes with the doors locked, shannon. >> will, what can you tell us about the officers who lost their lives today? >> well, both officers were both parents. we'll start with the first. 27-year-old leslie zarevny. she'd been with the police department for a year and a half. she'd just returned from maternity leave. we're told she has a 4-month-old baby girl. then there's officer jose vega. he goes by gill. he was the father of eight, 63 years old, he was a 35-year veteran of the palm springs police department and he was set to retire in december. he'd already turned his

paperwork in. >> today palm springs lost two brave officers, that go out every day and put their boots on the ground for everybody in this community. >> we're told the third officer who was shot is doing okay and is alert tonight. shannon? >> just a reminder, the sacrifices these people and their families make every single day. will, thank you. well, the list of republicans distancing themselves from donald trump is growing tonight. house speaker paul ryan is one of them. it's fueled by concern that trump could think other gop candidates on the ballot next week. that story is up next. and the debate countdown is on. our panel weighs in on thes do and don'ts for clinton and trump. tomorrow night on a night that has just gotten a whole lot more important and interesting from both candidates.

as the trump campaign tries to recover from that audio leak, more republicans are distancing themselves from their nominee. for many, a growing concern tonight that trump's name atop the ticket could hurt down-ballot republicans. peter doocy was in elk horn, wisconsin, earlier today where trump was supposed to campaign with house speaker paul ryan.

>> reporter: republicans in tight races are on the run from trump. calculating that they'll stand a better chance in november if they aren't aligned with their own party's nominee. in illinois, senator mark kirk says that, quo, djt is a malignant clown, unprepared and unfit to be president of the united states. in wisconsin, senator ron johnson says that, quote, donald trump's recent comments are completely indefensible and i refuse to even attempt to try to do so. and in new hampshire, senator kelly ayotte says that, quote, i will not be voting for donald trump or hillary clinton, and instead will be writing in governor pence for president on election day. on capitol hill, republican strategists are reportedly now nervous about down-ballot races. >> things are looking worse right now for republicans to hold the senate. just a couple of days ago, it was looking very positive. and when you have a big curveball like this arrive, nobody can quite read the way it's going to go. >> reporter: other experts say, this is a two-way street, and the down-ballot candidates can

damage trump the same way he can damage them. >> this could be the thing that pushes people over the edge, especially if you have a lot of high-level republicans signaling, enough is enough. >> reporter: but what do people think outside the beltway? this afternoon at the wisconsin evident trump was uninvited from and pence backed out of, women in the crowd told us they do not think it's helpful for republican lawmakers to back away from donald trump. >> they're just trying to gain from it. i feel they're just -- you know, we should be all together. we're all for the same thing, you know, stopping isis, closing our borders, getting rid of our debt. >> i can understand what they're doing, because it is -- you know, it was pretty awful. but that was 11 years ago, and i think they should go behind trump and stand behind him. >> it's bad for the party, it doesn't show us as a united republican party, and they should really be standing behind trump right now. >> reporter: here at speaker of the house paul ryan's fallfest, ryan, the governor scott walker, and ron johnson were all interrupted by trump supporters,

the presidential nominee making lewd comments about women. let's bring in our panel to talk about it. steve hayes is senior writer for "the weekly standard." dr. gena loudoun is the host of "dr. gena." rick renell is former u.s. spokesman to the united nations. all right, i want to start, guys, by playing robert jeffries, a very prominent pastor, he is on trump's faith advisory council. it seems like they're going to stick together. here's what dr. jeffries thatted to say. >> it's probably true, there are other things from his past that will come out, as well. but i think what he can do is say, i'm ashamed of what i've said, it doesn't represent why am, and i am a changed person and i will never exhibit this behavior from this point on. >> rick, i've heard from other evangelical leaders who say, listen, if -- if our choices are him and hillary, we've never been choosing him to be a church leader, we're voting for him as president of the united states. i know you think to those comments, that he hasn't given a genuine enough apology yet. do we see it tomorrow night.

>> maybe, but i am hoping that he does it before tomorrow night. i'm hoping that he has his moment where he can be authentic. i think pastor jeffries is right. there are evangelical christians in general, that absolutely want to forgive him, because they're looking at the choices between hillary and donald trump. they want to go there. and i think donald trump has got to make it easier for him. he's got to show that he is really apologetic, that this was a moment 11 years ago and that it's never going to happen again, as jeffrey says. >> he says that he has changed over time. and over this campaign and become a different person. here's a bit of what he tweeted out today. the media and establishment want me out of the race so badly. all caps. i will never drop out of the race. i will never let my supporters down. #makeamericagreatagain. he's not going anywhere, but there's a lot of chatter about how you could get him off the tick. >> there's a lot. at this point, donald trump has only two choices. when your campaign manager does not want to go on tv to defend you -- >> you're referring to kellyanne

conway, who was going to do some of the sunday shows tomorrow. she's been replaced by rudy giuliani. we don't know why. >> reince priebus also backed out. and rudy giuliani is going to be the lone surrogate now. but trump has two options. one is to sort of pull the plug, which he clearly intends not to do. and the other is to go to war, and go to war against bill, against hillary, and against the republican party. and that seems to be where things are headed. given some of the indications, the things that we've seen and read. and that is going to make for a very interesting debate tomorrow night and next 30 days leading to the election. >> absolutely, will. dr. gena, we've seen all kinds of different sides of him, but it looks like the fighter is the one that's going to be showing up and sticking around. he says he's not going anywhere. how does he find the knnuance t work with the people that he had, but he still has the deficit of trying to win over the people who have yet to make up their mind. >> i think being super

transparent and honest, he never claimed to be a pastor or a role model. he admitted who he is from the beginning. i think sticking with that course of action is the best for him. and i think the media perhaps needs to turn a little bit of attention, possibly, to hillary clinton and some of the things that she's done, that she hasn't apologized. there seems to be a different media standard for the two candidates. and i think we have to put this in perspective, because by tomorrow night, this isn't what we're going to be talking about. this will be old news. this is something that happened. and i also think there will be continued releases, every single time hillary clinton knows another e-mail dump is coming, they're going to release something like this. so people are going to have to decide what it is they want. because this is a binary choice. >> steve, this is what we're hearing all through the primaries, there are things that are going to be detrimental to trump, that they're being held by major media outlets so they can be used in the general election, and we all keep hearing from different news sources, there are more to come. >> one of the producers of the

apprentice said, you think what you'veo far is bad, wait until you see what's coming. it's a good bet that there's something more that's coming. i disagree respectfully with dr. gina. i can't imagine trump going back to the old trump or trying to be honest and transparent. i don't think that's the way he's been at all throughout this entire campaign. he can barely get through a paragraph without saying something that's false. it's why he's had to be fact checked so many timed. and i understand that there's bias in fact checking, but he says things that are false all the time. i don't think it's going to be enough for donald trump to try to remake himself at the debate tomorrow. i just don't understand how anybody could be giving him that advice. he is who he is. i think one of the reasons that this is likely to hurt him is that it's not a departure from what we've seen from donald trump over the years. it's consistent, not only the comments he's made throughout the campaign, but things that he wrote in his own books, years ago, when he talked about bagging married women, or

boasted about his sexual prowess. >> rick, there are plenty of people who think that hillary clinton says things all the time that aren't true as well, but she's not getting fact checked by the mainstream media the way that he is. >> totally. just on the foreign policy side, which i try to fact check her all the time, constantly. i mean, just in this last debate, she talked specifically about china and russia and her role in the iran deal. totally fabricated. was not what happened, for 18 months, she didn't do anything, and she's now pretending like she was going around, doing diplomatic meetings. that's flat-out not true. but our media is not really that interested in fact checking some of the policy stuff, because we have an audiotape, a video of donald trump saying some outrageous things. so, again, i think the american people will absolutely forgive. but what they have to do is they have to see a contrite donald trump and then they will forgive. this is a choice between two people. and they want to -- so many people want to choose the

tom bevin, and rick renell all with us. i want to read what they say is an excerpt from a speech that she gave in 2014 about being out of touch with the middle class. these are some of the remarks attributed to her. quote, we had a solid middle class upbringing, we had good public schools, we had accessible health care. so i lived that. and now, obviously, i'm kind of far removed because of the life i've lived, because of the economic fortunes that my husband and i enjoy. she's got to stay connected with the middle class, with the people, but this speech to a bunch of wall street bankers makes it sound like she's living a good life. >> this is the most innocuous to me. she hasn't dri she hasn't driven a car since 1996. >> she's not living like the rest of us. >> exactly. >> the other stuff, though, is very consequential and would be more consequential if it hadn't been overshadowed, dramatically, by all the trump stuff going on. >> and she talked about having a private and a public message that are different, because you

have to play all sides. is that just what politicians do or does it expose something new we didn't know about her? >> i always go back to the psychology, because that's my background, again, and i can't get past the fact that she literally is admitting to her voters that she doesn't think they're smart enough, she doesn't think they're smart enough, shannon, to connect the dots and know that she is lying to them. that would be so insulting to so many voters across the country, i would think, anyway. but maybe they just see it as a continuation, as you pointed out earlier, steve, that she has a 30-year record of, you know, corruption and crime and so maybe people are just more used to it than they are with mr. trump. >> and i want to play a little bit of what the gop's vice presidential nominee, mike pence, had to say. i believe this is yesterday in ohio, about how this plays and how the media handles it. here's what he had to say. >> really is amazing, since i joined this campaign. i joined this campaign, it's just about been two on one with the media doing half of hillary clinton's work for her every day. you ever notice that?

and it seems like the more information that comes out of this wikileaks released a whole new batch of e-mails today for your weekend enjoyment. >> all right, steve, fair to say that the media is doing a two-on-one, doing hillary clinton's work for her? >> certainly, the media has served has an amplifier for the arguments that hillary clinton has made against donald trump. now, i would argue that donald trump has made their job pretty easy by saying things that makes it easy for them to amplify. i don't know what tom is talking about, frankly. he says that we've known for a long time that hillary clinton is wealthy and out of touch. it's news for her, because, remember, she says that she was dead broke in 2000. i mean, this is news to her. yeah, i mean, i think -- to go back to the media question, i think if you look at the way that the media have focused on the donald trump and not reported deeply the kinds of things that they would report, of course, hillary clinton were a republican, there's actually no question there's a double standard. but as i say, i think donald trump has made their job pretty easy. >> rick, does this hurt her at

all -- she's really been out there trying to get millennials, which the millennials don't like trump or clinton. neither of the primary candidates are polling well with that group. she's also tried to pull in the bernie supporters, many of them are younger, and it seems like they do not buy what she's selling. now, when they hear these things where she's talking about cozying up to wall street, listen, it's a free country. if she wants to make this money giving speeches to these groups, fine. i don't think anybody begrudges her that. but is she saying something differently publicly about what her positions are and trying to align herself with bernie sanders in that wing of the party, will this resonate with they will at all? like, hmm, she wasn't really telling us the truth. >> interestingly enough, if you look at research about millennials, the number one thing is that they want authenticity. they really sense it. and they liked bernie, not because he was polished, but because they believed his message and they thought he was authentic. the irony is is that if hillary clinton would actually just own and it say, i'm really wealthy. i didn't grow up this way, but

this is an american success story. and because i'm wealthy, i'm committed and, you know, if she was authentic about being wealthy, i think that they could turn it around. but instead, her instincts are to be extremely secretive about it and duplicitous. >> the problem with that is that the way she's made her money has been a 30-year -- right? it's been confluence of big government, big business, all of those things. she's been a public servant all her life and still ends up with $100, $150 million. that's part of what i think those millennials rebel against. >> i think that's true, except where else is she going to go? she is wealthy, own it, and just be humbly accepting of the fact that you're living the american dream. be grateful. and then talk about other ways that people can get the american dream. >> but she really isn't living the american dream. mr. trump is living the american dream. she's the one who has made this money in public life. and she's not only made it in public life, she's made it, many would argue, at least, in some really corrupt ways.

and so, she really can't embrace that, because she really doesn't have that to embrace. it's not like she ever created a single job, like she ever worked in the private sector. there's just nothing there for her to embrace in terms of the american dream, so she can't relate to that average worker. >> there was so much that was made of mitt romney last time around, creating this super rich guy who's evil and doesn't care about real people. how does she embrace that and also look like, you know, she cares about people, but she owns the fact, you know, steve, that she is wealthy? >> i think it's a hard case for her to go to millennial voters and say, look, you, too, can make $100,000 on cattle futures. it's not going to work. even though she may be able to do that authentically. i think her bigger challenge is losing millennials, not to donald trump, but possibly to people wanting to stay home, and especially to gary johnson. gary johnson has done better with millennials. he's done things that, i think, would be potentially discrediting, but it doesn't

seem to hurt him at least yet. >> we'll see, if they show up on election days, because third party voters don't show up a lot of times on election day. so the weekend's controversy for both campaigns raising the stakes for tomorrow's debate even higher. our panel will have some advice for them, that's next. incredible bladder protection in a pad this thin, i didn't...

dr. gina, best advice for trump? >> my best advice would be to talk a little bit, that he has had a spiritual journey. you know, this is a refining process, you put yourself out there like this and you are going to be humbled. my husband has been in politics much of our adult life and it is a humbling experience. i think if he talks about that, from that emotional side, he could connect even more so with the people who already like him and maybe even earn some appreciation for those who don't. and i would offer the same advice for hillary, just try to be quiet. or if she could ever apologize for maybe the things that came out today, if they are confirmed and validated to be true. maybe she should say something in terms of an apology that, hey, you know, that was pretty insensitive of me to say to the middle class and say i say different things on the campaign trail than i'm going to say to you guys tonight. >> i think the first five minutes of this debate will be the pivotal, crucial moment. trump has to come up with a contrite apology, and he has to

make his case and say, look, are you -- this is a decision that the country faces. my bad words versus hillary's options. try to spin it around on her and be on offense as quickly as he can be. and hillary has to stay upright and just, you know -- >> not cough. >> not cough. >> don't start coughing. >> stay upright. and do as much as he can to stay on policy and stay on point and leave trump to be trump. >> rick? >> martha raddatz is one of the moderators. she is a foreign policy expert. hillary clinton is not going to be able to get away with a lot, so donald trump should take it on foreign policy during this debate. he should talk about the fact that she didn't boko haram on the terror list. because martha rad daddatz is t to fact check hillary and unlike any other moderator, she'll be able to do it. >> there's a big discussion about whether he's going to

bri bring up some of bill clinton's alleged infidelities, and other allegations, that are more serious than that. and there's this secondary issue of whether she then tried to quiet these women. you know, how does she handle that if it comes up? >> i think she could talk about it, what a painful time that was in her marriage. she's alluded to this before. she's done it, i think, rather successfully. i think it would be foolish for trump to bring it up. it would be like punching a wall if your football team doesn't do well. it might feel good, but it's not going to win you supporters. what he's got to do -- >> he's got to talk about hillary's attack of women. >> exactly, it's about what hillary did to the women. >> we've got to go for now, but we'll be right back. stick around.
