and i thought maybe they are doing something good finally. turns out we got our own guys. it's very disturbing. and the other question i think that should come up and will come up is certainly if representative waltz and others are able to ask questions is going to be what is going to happen with these resistance fighters? are they finished? are we helping them at all? are we going to work with the taliban as if there is this new respectable nation? steve: that's one of the things the republicans plan to point out to tony blinken hey, you know the people you trust from the taliban? half of them are on america's most wanted list by the fbi. come on, you got to be kidding me. the "wall street journal" puts out essentially a line of attack on the administration by talking about the thousands of people allied with us over the last 20 years. they are stranded there. of i know the white house doesn't like to use the word stranded but they are stranded there. headline on the op-ed page those still left behind in afghanistan the u.s. isn't doing nearly enough to free those who are trapped. they go on to say that there are

thousands of sir. vimplets or special immigrant visa people who should have been evacuated to a secure location and they say the white house needs to tell not ask the tall ban and whatever wants to do leave can do so at america's invitation. the biden administration wants nothing more than to watch itself of the debacle in afghanistan and it has a political incentive to play down or obfuscate the number of trapped afghans eligible to come to america. the world shouldn't forget that thousands of would be americans men women and children face arrest or death because of the white house rush to the afghan exit. so, in other words, mr. president, figure a way to negotiate with the taliban if that's what you're going to do but convince them that every person who he wants to get out can get out. brian: forget about reasoning with them. also a report in axios that said our cia director met in

there were these others, the other 20 or so who had some connection. maybe they had spoken at a conference. maybe they had professional relationship. many of those, i think, don't rise to the level of conflict of interest. but, whatever the case, all 27 of these people were absolutely wrong by making an assertion in february 2020 that they essentially knew there it was a natural, quote, unquote, natural origin to this pandemic that wasn't connected to a lab incident and that any suggestion that people like me and others were making, raising the possibility of a possible lab incident origin was a conspiracy theory. that was not just wrong. it was dangerous that's why i have repeatedly called for all 27 of the signatories of this letter to publicly state that they were wrong to recant it and join our demands for a full investigation into pandemic origin. rachel: i mean anthony fauci himself laundered u.s. funds

you again. steve: what do you make of gavin newsom say hey if you vote to get me out of office, we are going to turn into texas? is that what you really want? >> you know, californians could only be so lucky is to have at least half of texas' policies when it comes comes to regulation. california's are voting with their feet. i was one of them. they are leaving california number one state they go to if they leave is the state of texas. there's a reason for that you can earn a living here. you can have part of the american dream here. can you afford to have a home. homeowner rates in texas are 10% higher than california. california has the second lowest home ownership rate in the nation. steve: chuck, when you move to texas, you can have a good job because there are since 2018, 272 companies have moved their headquarters out of the high tax state and heavily regulated california to go to texas. chuck, explain why you left the state of california and are now

in austin. for it was deeply personal. number of reasons. i was the aerospace industry in california 13 years before i was elected to the state assembly in 2004. all of those companies moved. they moved their headquarters out of california. so if i was going to do the same thing, i would be living out of a suitcase. the other thing is we took in my in-law's who needed care and attention. they had dementia. and i couldn't afford a big enough place where they could live under our roof and we could take care of them. out in texas we could afford a bigger place and i have got a swimming pool. so, yes, it's a much better life out here. and, you know, californians have this opportunity with this recall. they have a chance a second chance if they vote yes on the recall. and i'm hoping that we may see my friend larry elder, perhaps, get in and make it. and if he does, you know, california isn't going to turn into texas overnight. but what someone like larry elder or the other republicans running might be able to do, is they could slow the decline of

today. i have lots and lots of questions for him. i want to know first and foremost what led to this? how did we get 13 americans killed over there? how did we leave multiple americans behind enemy lines as hostages? and how did we instead of bringing all of these si vimplet interpreters that we wanted to get out of there that we had already been vetting how did we bring out all of these unvetted afghan refugees that we now really don't know much about that are coming back to the united states? i want to know about all of these failures. i want to know about why they are taking credit for things that they had no business taking credit for? we had a successful evacuation of american citizens from the state of texas and the first thing the state department did was try to take credit for that first successful evacuation after august 31st which they had absolutely nothing to do with it. and i'm sick of them patting themselves on the back about the evacuation and how they got so many thousands of people out in the midst of the unmitigated disaster that they created. is he going to have to answer all those questions and there are a lot more questions than that. rachel: congressman, it was shameful that they would take credit for it especially since so many of the groups that were

successfully evacuating americans doing the jobs that our u.s. government should have done said that the state department was actually hindering and blocking their efforts in a very deliberate way. so, yeah, very shameful. i am concerned about this vetting process that you are talking about. and what kind of answers do you think you will get? because i have been hearing things about child brides again confusion over why some very clear allies and interpreters were not evacuated, but other people, planes full of people that had dog nothing for america did make it over. >> i think this is just another, rachel, just another example of their absolute failure. i think that they were desperate to get people on those planes to rack up the numbers so that they could show the american people that they were getting people out of afghanistan. when, in reality, what they were doing is just putting a whole bunch of refugees on the planes and they weren't really able to screen and find the people that we wanted. they weren't able to get our american citizens out and they weren't able to get these dedicated siv interpreters that have put their lives on the line

for 20 years to help us. that's who we wanted out of there. instead we got a bunch of these people. we don't know how they are being vetted. the vetting process supposed to take months. people back here in the united states taking ubers going out into town. i don't know what's going to happen but it's going to be really bad. one thing that bothers me today we were already told we were going to have 3 minutes to question secretary blinken today because he has a hard time that he has to go. he is driving the agenda on when he is going to talk to us and how long is he going to speak to us. brian: here's the problem too. the state department is still driving things with the defense department at least open to work with private groups to get people out. the state department still has control of the entire process. i think you have to focus on, number one, they are going to say it's trump's plan. we pushed the deadline back it would have been worse if trump was there. number two, why wouldn't they pull auer hardware out? and, why weren't they aware that this that kabul will will fall? every other province fell without a fight. would would kabul look to be any

kirk joins us now. first of all welcome this morning to "fox & friends." >> good morning. rachel: i'm assuming turning point has over 100 employees and are you defending your right as an organization to not force this mandate on your employees? >> oh, yes. we have well over 200 employees most of which by the way are young. mid 20's, spread largely across the country, so it's not like we are running an assembly plant in very close quarters. and we will see the federal government, if necessary, if this rule comes down as it was articulated in the press conference. still waiting to see what the rule says there could be technical details in it. it looks as if joe biden is will to use federal power almost police power as alan dershowitz has described to go after private business. look, i have made the personal medical decision, which is where these decisions are going to be made to not get vaccinated some employees have made the decision to be vaccinated. i don't ask, i don't care. that's their own personal

rachel: so, we have been talking about this all morning, charlie. i mean, i know turning point has been used to having liberals on campus. you know, accosting some of your members of your organization but what is it specifically about 9/11 that upsets so many liberals? doesn't seem to have the same unifying message that so many of us think it should have for even on campuses? >> that's such an important question. so this was our chapter at michigan tech university in michigan. thankfully nobody got hurt this one person was wearing a dress or something and coming over and kind of toppled the table over. our students handled it brilliantly. we have cultural and historic amnesia. we have no memory of things that came before us. and our entire country acts as if we are trying to find our own identity by deleting things that

planners, facilitators that we killed in the first strike. it's unusual but those names aren't out there. and given this "new york times" story, i think members of congress need to get some heat to blinken this week to understand how did we kill a u.s. aid worker if the "new york times" is right. seven children around 10 innocent civilians, listen, these sort of things happen in warfare and it's terrible and awful. but i would like to know how high up the chain did the authority go to have the strike? did it go all the way up to the president? what intelligence did we rely on? you know, this is sort of the problem, brian, like i find it hard to believe that we had anyone on the ground checking to make sure this u.s.a. aid worker was in fact an isis facilitator when the "new york times" was reporting he was loading water canisters in his car to give his family water. this is a tragedy and this is what will happen when you don't have ground intelligence. brian: right. he was loading up water. they told us something else. they said second dear explosion there was no secondary explosion according to eyewitnesses.

final hour of "fox & friends " for this monday. we all know we've been talking about it coming up on a month how chaotic the withdrawal from afghanistan was. joe biden said we're going to be all out by this date and people thought that's impossible. he meant it and he tried to do it, but we left a whole bunch of people behind. later today the secretary of state, tony blinken is going to go to capitol hill and he's going to first today address the house tomorrow the senate, republicans want to know exactly , you know, how many americans are left, how many of our allies are over there, did you realize you're screwing this up so bad and the democrats say hey now isn't it true that donald trump started this thing and it's 20 years of mismanagement, you can't hang it all on joe biden. rachel: that's right, and what's interesting is we did speak with representative ronny jackson and he said he's only going to get three minutes but with those three minutes here is what he plans to ask. secretary blinken. >> we're already told we'll only have three minutes to question secretary blinken today because he has a hard time that

he has to go. he is driving the agenda on when he's going to talk to us and how long he's going to speak to us. i have lots and lots of questions for him. i want to know first and foremost what led to this , how did we get 13 americans killed over there. how did we believe multiple americans behind enemy lines, and how did we instead of bringing all of these sib interpreters that we wanted to get out that we had already been vetting how did we bring out the unvetted afghan refugees we don't know much about coming back to the united states. i want to know about all of these failures the state department completely 100% ignored all of the advice that we're getting and they went ahead and this. they ran this evacuation. brian: so they are getting some people out. they have about 100 over the weekend on commercial flight s. we don't know who they are. what i found really unbelievable and not plausible is that the state department nixed the planes going out because they said we don't really know whose on it we don't have proof we don't know what the plane is going to do. we don't even want it to land in a third country.

worst things i've ever seen in my time in government. steve: catastrophe indeed and brian, talking about vetting of the 100-some thousand who wound up over here. do we really trust the way our state department has vetted these people, because given how does, how do we vet people on our southern border that we allow in. of course now, you know, it's just a matter of time before afghanistan falls completely into al qaeda's control, and that's what happened 20 years ago and that's why the past is so scary and one of the al qaeda spokespeople said over the weekend, during the 9/11 commemoration they said 9/11 is a positive event for al qaeda. they said u.s. leaving afghanistan is a validation of osama bin laden's vision and the blessed attacks they called them and that, afghanistan, is just the beginning, so they see us getting out as their chance to get in and take over. rachel: right and that's part of the poor planning. you talk about the people coming

over not being vetted. a lot of people have asked, why didn't we have a third country or a regional country where people could go to if they were going to be refugees? steve: just get out of afghanistan. rachel: right. not just so that we could vet them and eventually bring them over but maybe reset el them there. that's a lot cheaper for america and in many cases i spoke with ric grenell the former ambassador of germany and one of the things he learned as an ambassador working with the state department is many refugees prefer to stay in the region. they don't necessarily want to come here and that of course would have been safer and better for americans, especially in this way that we did this , but brian, when i see how few steps were taken, the rushing that morgan ortagus talks about, it really makes me believe what many people believe, including many of the gold star parents whose sons and daughters died at the kabul airport, many of them believe that this was rushed so

that joe biden could have this , you know, celebratory, we got out of afghanistan moment instead he made it more painful on the 20th anniversary. brian: and he knew how it was going to be received and to me that's why he recorded his address and didn't speak live at any of those events and he was not happy with a lot of the signs that greeted him which is blank biden on the way there because what you did is you became non-partisan when it comes to 9/11 and fighting back and going in and going after the terrorists and inflicted all of this horrific pain on our country, he gave the keys right back to them and he bragged about the airlift, and then just mocked people that said it was going to be messy anyway. i'll bring you to mike morel, the personal cia briefer to president bush as well as obama. he said the taliban is saying we didn't just defeat the u.s.. we defeated nato. we defeated the world's greatest military power ever, so this is a celebration going on that we

defeated the soviet union, it fell. now we're defeating nato. maybe that will fall too, and look at what we're seeing now. american hardware, and ingenuity that we picked up, had to stop these ied's and blowing up our humvees we have that v-shaped on the bottom and they have all of these now. between 50 and $80 billion worth of our stuff. rachel: and they're literally decimating whatever hope there was for the resistance, with our own weapons. imagine being the resistance fighters who were working with us at one point, knowing that they're being decimated by our own weapons that somehow were left, again, part of this poor planning. how did this happen? that's one of the major questions that's going to be asked in this hearing. how did we leave afghanistan with these weapons in the hands of our enemies. steve: that's right and so the congressman men have three minutes and they are going to say, you know, secretary of state blinken, just yes or no answers, but he will, we've seen this movie before. he's go eking to try to run out the clock, not a lot of

substantive answers unfortunately. meanwhile we'd like more answers about what is going on, what is the in tension of the administration when it comes to more covid mandates. thursday afternoon, the president made it very clear , if you want to work for the federal government, you're going to have to get the vaccine. however, members of congress, because they're in the legislative branch they don't have to and neither do people who work for the court system so it's one thing, the administration is going to make all the employees of the executive branch get the shot but everybody else in the federal government, nope. sorry they will not be required, under law, under statute at this point, to get the vaccine. rachel: and there's an organization turning point you isa its founder charlie kirk was on with me earlier in the show and he says that turning point who has over 100 employees, mostly young people who many don't find that they are at great risk of the virus, he says he's going to fight back

out in washington state there was one high school that wanted all their players to be in red, white, and blue and it was a great idea a tribute to patriots day and 9/11, and at the last minute, an unnamed staffer at this high school pulled the plug , said you know what? that might trigger somebody. rachel: and it might offend somebody so i think we have a quote here from, this is from jason rantz broke this and said fairly upset and confused. steve: this is a student. rachel: he said i was upset and confused as to why the theme was changed so i went around asking students and our leadership. they had explained that red, white and blue was going to be seen as racially insensitive, and may affect people in a way that we will not understand, and for that reason, we were to change our theme. steve: and schools did not go into the specifics about who be offended, they just pulled the plug. brian: it turns out this is one parent who said this. we now speculate the school

officials did this because the majority, minority opponents might be offended by american pride. in america, we're usually not offended by patriotism and american pride. rachel: but this is what woke culture is all about. this is this idea that america is not good, that it is, you do so much on the history of america, you see how it's being torn down, you see how our founders are being maligned that is part of this way of tearing us down and by the way, it's doing more damage to us as americans than anything the terrorists could ever do to us because samantha powersly they did what they did on 9/11, because they said we were bad, right? the west is bad. we're doing it to ourselves, our children are getting this , cultural marxism, this idea that america is not good and even the idea of american exceptional ism is also very controversial. steve: exactly. fox news did reach out to the principal, we have have not yet
