president biden commenting on the classified documents for the first time publicly on his trip to mexico city. >> people know i take classified documents and classified information seriously. i was grouped ab briefed about s discovery and government documents taken from that office. but i don't know what's in the documents. speak on capitol hill tracking down the top democrats for comment. >> this is republican hypocrisy at its finest. >> does it bother you for classified documents were found at president biden's old office? >> i know this is an emerging issue and referred to the doj. >> we see no evidence of obstruction of justice. >> do you have a comment on president biden keeping classified documents? >> at the republican in tow committee with conducting damage

>> carley: interesting comments from the president with those remarks yesterday, lucas. thank you so much and let's bring in james comer to the chair house oversight committee looking into this issue in depth. congressman we got the president's first documents yesterday. he said he was surprised to learn they were even in his office at the biden center. but what went through your mind when you heard them say that? >> i don't dispute that he is surprised but the thing that went through my mind when this was discovered supposedly for president trump joe biden was quick to condemn the president and called the president are responsible for having classified documents and having them in and secure location. so we didn't seem to be as outraged over his own wrongdoing as the former president. but look as republicans we are asking for equal treatment here. we are just asking the

department of justice treat joe biden and the same manner they treated donald trump. every president as a history of accidentally taking documents with them that may or may not have been classified. it's been a problem with every president yet no other president then donald trump was rated by the fbi and put through the ringer like donald trump was put through the ringer. what we found out about these documents but joe biden is supposedly there were only a handful of documents and they turned them into the department of justice of archives immediately. when donald trump was there, they searched his house and they searched the first lady's closet and a team, s.w.a.t. team so to speak fbi agents into mar-a-lago. they obtained the security cameras at mar-a-lago and they didn't do any of this for joe biden. so we want to know what the difference is and why there was

such a discrepancy in how the former president was treated versus the current president. >> todd: there are two main issues here, extrapolated on the first one which a two-tiered system of justice, but the other is the connection, parent connection between this pen biden center in china. new york city pennsylvania with the biden center in 2017 opened its doors every 2,018th the university received $15.8 billion in anonymous chinese gifts that year including one in may for staggering $14.5 million. what if anything china got for those donations as it pertains to the biden records? >> absolutely. we already have the biden center on the radar for just the reason you mention appear the anonymous donations from china. because think about this, the biden center anonymous donations

to china. then anonymous buyers and we are pretty certain they were from china. then you look at the suspicious activity report that hunter biden generated and there was $1 million transfer to hunter biden's account from an anonymous source in china. i mean, this is unprecedented to have anonymous donations in the one million-dollar range going directly to the immediate family of joe biden. it is almost as if a money trail from the biden front door all the way to china and it is anonymous sources. this is a problem and why republicans are going to investigate the biden family influence peddling. we are concerned this white house is compromised because of the millions of dollars they receive from china. >> carley: congressman, who is ultimately responsible for refilling to the american people the documents were found in the first place? they were discovered six days before the midterm elections and

we are learning about them now. would it be the biden administration or the doj? >> joe biden said he would be the most transparent president in history and i think we can make the strong argument the least strong argument in his history. they are to brief the chairman and ranking member of the house oversight committee in a situation like this. but yet they never did that. >> carley: do you think that is politically motivated? >> it appears to be politically motivated. it appears how seriously they took what donald trump did in this nonchalant attitude about joe biden. the media yesterday when the story broke they were catching me in the hall the mainstream media but there is a big difference. he immediately reported this and turned it in and only ten documents. how do we know that? that is what they said and this administration has allowed a history of not telling the truth. with the fact they see trump

security cameras and know who was going in and out and searched every room including the first lady's closet but they just took joe biden for his word for it and who was paying those lawyers? there are a million questions we have. for the national archives to not give us the courtesy of giving us an update is pretty deterring. >> todd: i want to give your thoughts speaking of china what seems to be bipartisan agreement and both parties on board with the creation of a new examining of strategic cooperation and competition with china. here is house speaker kevin mccarthy how joe biden with the relationship with china, listen. >> it didn't start under this administration, but the current administration has clearly made it worse, the policies has weakened our economy and made us more vulnerable. but here's the good news. there is bipartisan consensus

that the error of trusting communist china is over. >> todd: there was a couple of things highlighted in here. the fact it is a bipartisan committee but kevin mccarthy said the biden administration is not onboard with what we need to do with regard to china is somewhat shocking and they should be the leaders of this but more specifically what is this going to do to help america and really make sure that china is kept in check. >> we know they've stole our look, they manipulate currency and we lost a lot of manufacturing jobs to china. bipartisan issue is to bring those manufacturing jobs back to the united states. there shouldn't be discussion over that yet, last year we were in the minority and speaker mccarthy tried to get nancy pelosi to go along with china tax force and she wouldn't do it. now we have done it and obviously a lot of democrats that support this and want to be involved with this task force on this issue but yet now the

administration say, "oh, it is not needed." this is another example of our concern why we are worried this administration may be compromised by china. i don't think the american people realize how much money from china to the biden family accounts has been transferred over the past decade. this example from the biden center is the newest example but the whole laptop issue is still with instances where the biden family, not just hunter biden but jim biden as well receiving money from china and anonymous sources. >> carley: there are also reports the classified documents some of them related to ukraine. then you think about hunter biden's business dealings in ukraine and could there be a possible connection there? we don't know but maybe one day we will find out. attorney general merrick garland a point of the out of chicago to look into these classified documents, if anything that rose

to the level of the legal occurrence. he has a trump appointee so does that give you confidence this will be handled clearly? not really. the concern is this happened over a second, apparently. we are just finding out about it you're the only reason we are finding out about it because a reporter from "cbs news" broke the story. if that reporter had not broke the story, we wouldn't know about it. why didn't they disclose it then? obviously it was right before the election and joe biden made the closing argument to the american people during the midterm elections that republicans were a threat to democracy. he highlighted the rate in mar-a-lago as an example why the republicans were a threat to democracy. he knew the whole time the same thing happened to him, but yet, they covered it up like they have done so many times in the past. friendly republicans are in control and finally we have a gavel and subpoena power. we will start these investigations as we speak and try to get answers to the

quadruple murder. the police body cam footage capturing the fraternity and speeding off. a woman with 2015 tender date with bryan kohberger bryan kohberger. tiktok users say bryan kohberger invited himself to her dorm, touched her body in odd ways and later telling her, "she had good birthing hips." she never spoke to him after that and the next hearing set for thursday morning. and obviously you don't want to read into a date that was clearly going awry or went awry and awed on many levels, but this is certainly odd behavior. >> carley: it is weird. i hate having to look at him. i hate the images we have to show and saying his name. the story is a tragedy. and i always go back to kaylee gonzalez's father, the family has been outspoken about this.
