democratic party and some polls have biden as the loser in a rematch against trump. >> steve: indeed. also on the republican side, something new. big supporter of ron desantis early on was billionaire hedge fund manager by the name of ken griffin. he pumped a bunch of money into ron desantis campaign because conventional wisdom was number of months ago, ron desantis stood best possibility of beating donald trump in the primary. keep in mind, after the 2021 election down in florida, where ron desantis won 2022, that is, ron desantis won by double digits, like 20 points across portions of florida, okay, he is unstoppable, that is why so much went in there. abc is reporting mr. griffin because ron desantis has not had

a lot of lift off in the poll, they are pausing their support, although griffin and his team says that is not true. >> ainsley: his team says ken is not pausing anything, he continues to assess the field. many live in miami and palm beach, they are waiting out to see who the big guy is going to be, who is going to win the primary and put their money behind that individual. the estee lauder guy met with tim scott and ken griffin left chicago. he started hedge fund citadel and bought property in palm beach and moved to miami. i think they will support who wins the primary, they are pushing the one they like now. >> brian: not one side will go the whole way. they will have ups and undoes. no one has seen anything like

donald trump, twice indicted, dominating every news cycle and by having 30 to 40% lead. they are waiting to see if any court cases will stop him in his tracks. so far it let him dominate. whether people feel stalwart to back him, he dominates. the field freezes and they concentrate on donald trump's reaction and size of the crowd, instead of talking about who they are, which is typically the way things are done in the past. tim scott seem to be getting centers, but for desantis, seems his group is starting to say issue put him in adversaryial situations where he might have people challenge him more because in the past, it is a great formula, he excels when he's challenged. if you remember 60 minutes and

it. >> steve: next guest is a democratic hopeful looking to take on joe biden, robert f. kennedy jr. joins us live in the studio. good morning. >> happy to be here. >> steve: what do you make of the stories? sounds like deep-pocketed democratic donors are nervous joe is not going fast enough. >> i don't know what is happening with his campaign, our campaign, we raised $6 million first quarter, million dollars a day last three days of the quarter and that flow is continuing. we have 140,000 volunteers in the field. we have organizations that were putting together in all 50 states and we have extraordinary engagement on social media. >> brian: what do you think is the main issue you get when you meet people that you are running? what do they dive into you on? >> my issues are censorship and the war and rebuilding the

middle class. the reaction that i get from the public and if you look at my twitter feed and social media, this hunger people have to bring the country together. they are tired of the polarization and the anger and we have been very disciplined about not criticizing individuals to talk about policies and to try to figure o out, try to focus on the values americans share with each other. republicans and democrats and focus on issues that are keeping us all apart. right now the polarization is so toxic and venomous and i think more dangerous than any time since the american civil war. americans have to talk with people they don't agree with on every issue. >> ainsley: when you look at the

poll, inflation is the main concern this election for americans, is that what you are hearing on the campaign trail and what is your plan? >> i'm hearing inflation and interest rates and interest rates have cut off the higher interest rates, the government's way, fed's way of dealing with inflation is actually worse for a lot of americans. small businesses in the city do not have access to capital. i talked to an african american woman in cleveland this week who has a company that her family has run, sausage company, for 80 years. the company was flourishing, but they need capital and they survived the pandemic and the lockdown, which a lot of cleveland did not. 41% of black-owned business is permanently bankrupt. she survived, now declaring bankruptciy because of lack of

capital. local banks are hoards their funs because price of bonds are going down and it will choke every small business in this country and that is frightening. >> brian: looking at another interest rate raise, too, is what they are saying. >> inflation is horrible for middle class, may be the -- are even worse. >> steve: talking about how polarized the country is, you are life-long democrat and so many republicans are supporting you. i'm sure when you gave the number of about how much you have in campaign contributions, a lot is coming from republicans. they are interested in you advancing to debate with joe biden. doesn't look like it will happen. >> we will try to get the president to debate, we think it is important. it is important for the democratic party because ultimately the president will have to debate a republican and

likely we don't know, it will be trump. trump is probably the most successful debater in this country since lincoln douglas in the way he dispatched 16 republican opponents, one after the other, was really quite extraordinary. he has his own technique that people like and it is like going to a prize fight and you need practice. and that usually happens during a primary and asking the president to debate during the primary is asking prize fighter to practice for a big bout by sitting on the couch and eating chick-fil-a. >> ainsley: did you learn through the campaign, what your father and uncle taught you and what donald trump taught you about how to run a campaign?

important to persuade the american people democracy works and we're all participantses and people can look at candidates and make reactional choice. >> brian: when your dad was running, middle of the vietnam war and racial unrest, sense the country was coming apart. what do you think your dad would think now, what perspective do you have on this? >> you know, one of the things that he was trying to bring people together and he succeeded in doing that. last day of his life, he won most urban state in the country, which is california, and most rural south dakota and people who supported him and particularly whites in maryland and on the east coast lined train tracks after he died, 2-1/2 million people. many people voted not for george mcgovern, but for george wallace
